This is what i think only a few of us have expected ! The last minute goal from Sittingbourne against Burgess, our 1-0 win against CDG and the 6 points deduction against Leatherhead !

So we will face Folkestone; won our home game back in October 3-0 with Kelly,Adams and Pogue the goal scorers. And 11 days ago we lost away 2-1 with a goal from the spot from Adams.

What can we expect ? I think these are matches with their own rules; one game of 90 minutes and i think we have a decent chance to make it to the Final.

Hope a lot of supporters will make the trip and will be the 12th man of Terry's team.

so if we win Tuesday and Guernsey were to beat leatherhead, would we travel to Guernsey unable to take much support while they have a 1,000 plus, bad enough in a lg fixture, but a play off final, although they could say the same, brings up again the question what div should sides be in,what do others think.

Final will NOT be played on neutral ground. Will be played at the ground of the highest placed team. i.e. if it us & Guernsey then the game will be played at Guernsey as they finished higher then us. [Remember Tooting]

Don't think will be able to get my passport in time!!

Bearing in mind it's a bank holiday next weekend would be surprised if there will be enough available seats for players let alone fans?!

Prices will be much higher too!

Surely Guernsey playing at home would be an UNFAIR advantage (whoever they play).

I personally think this match should be classed as a 'cup match', which means they would have to play it on a neutral ground on the main land.

Totally unfair, I`ve said it from the beginning , they should not be allowed in the league, for most people it`s a non starter, just cant get there, should definitely be at neutral ground.

Hi all, Invicta fan coming in peace.

Firstly it will be great to see you all at Tuesday's play-off, don't think either of us really expected to be playing each other in the semi-finals, we were on the runway at Guernsey just about to take off when the Leatherhead news came through!!

Having spoken to a number of people at Guernsey on Friday, it would appear that their ground is unavailable next Saturday and so whoever wins our game will be at home in the Final irrespective of who it is.

Hi Rev59,

I can assure you this isn't a wind-up, as at Friday their ground isn't available and they are resigned to playing the Final away.

Although of course as we have learnt in the last couple of weeks things can change!!

Thanks Pilch, great news for both of our clubs! Of course if Leatherhead beat them then we would go to theirs, but you would be at home to them.

Thought your ground was the best in the league we've been to this season so well up for coming back again so soon! We'll bring a lot I'm sure and sure that you locals will get behind your boys so hopefully a really good crowd!

If Guernsey get to the final wouldn't be surprised if its at a neutral ground like Lancing as happened with their FA cup tie this season against Dover...just a thought?

Guernsey were told that they couldn't play FA cup games on the island by the FA.

Would be fine with Lancing if needs be, as long as it doesn't involve spending literally 100's of Pounds to see the game then I think we'd all be ok with that!

dont get talk of where final will be. if we play like yesterday final will be at folkestone. also have we enough fit players to put a team out? if we did get to final and guernsey beat leatherhead which i think wont happen then sure guernsey will play at a neutral ground they not likely to give us a home advantage. hope i am wrong but reading folkestone website they have a fully fit squad an think they will be to strong for what is left of our team.

leenny guernsey could play fa cup games on the island but only original game and kick off 3pm. when they play dover there was rugby game i think and dover would not agree to a change of time so it was played at lancing. but think if they were away and a draw then the replay had to be on mainland.

That sounds more like it now Peter. Have been reliably informed that if and it's a big if this is the case then Guernsey will most probably be asked to choose a neutral ground to play at.
I think we just need to concentrate on Tuesdays game first and not get carried away.

Dan- train from LBR to Swanley leaves at ten past four via Peckham Rye. You then join my train and we all go down in the car. You would have to leave work 5 minutes early! You are just scared of my amazing driving skills!!

Good luck to all tonight....just gutted I can't be there for this one.
If I could have chosen our first opponents in the playoffs it would certainly have been Folkestone, as I think they have that Jekylll and Hyde quality about them, rather like us, and are just as likely to 'not turn up'. Certainly feels rather like Dover all over again.....though the two teams from 2007 were both stronger than tonight's.
I shall be following from afar. COYU !

From the Folkestone Forum

"I know the Noyz Boyz haven't been loud purely because numbers have been short and with minty moving away to IOW, but there will be a good turnout tonight and we're asking you (if you want) come stand behind that goal and join in! At Guernsey it was a great atmosphere made by the folkestone fans!

Should be a night to remember! See you all there!!"

---------------------------------------------------

Finally!! proper singing opposition fans in this league!!!!!!! Going to be a much better atmosphere in a good stadium if they go for it this time :)

It has been confirmed that if Guernsey win they would have to play at the opponents ground ( NOT a neutral venue )

Another incentive to win tonight and hope they do too!

FFolkestone should have had the game sewn up in first 30 mins , since then Hastings been at least as good and dominated for much of second half. 2-2 probably fair scoreline but they should have had a first half red for vicious tackle on Trevor . ET and who knows what it will bring?
Not sure of Leatherhead still playing two late Guernsey goals give them a shout.

tthe dream is over for at least another year löst 3-2 overall i feel a fair result could have been very different if they had a red instead of a very lucky yellow in first half but other than that no Complaints about ref. Feel for tim - scored our first and their third (no way his fault though) and missed a sitter of a header two minutes earlier.
Ho hum at least we know what is needed for next season - a proven scorer two fill backs and a quality manager who stays more than a couple of months. Aidfield playmaker would also be nice.
Anything less and we will be lucky to get this far next season. Lose a few players and things look vrry bleak indeed.
Good lucl Invicta. Do the south coast proud i. Surrey.

I feel for Tim especially as it was Nathan Furgeson who got the og. I thought the ref wasn't as good as you thought lp, he bottled the nailed on pen for handball in the first half, should of sent their player off and allowed them to waste time when their player went down with cramp before being subbed.
Interesting to hear the league secretary comment on how poor the ground was and that they may well have to do something to get the ground fit for Saturdays final, myself I honestly can't see how they're allowed to play there with a stand closed and seems the secretary didn't realise either. I thought it a couple of weeks ago how poor it was. No doubt the inept league won't bat an eye lid and allow the final to go ahead there after all.
I cannot see Folkestone beating Leatherhead on Saturday, for me they were the best side in the league including Peacehaven.

I thought our boys did us proud from around the 50th minute tonight, not a great first half but certainly took the game to them second half, even their directors thought we were going to beat them. On to next season certainly need to work hard on keeping 5 maybe 6 players and build a decent strong squad around them.
Well done to each and every player tonight a cruel way to loos a semi final but that's football.

Agree with you Lenny, 50min+ we played well and thought everyone gave it their all. Josh pelling yet again keeping us in the game with some crucial saves and he was quick of his line all night.

Thought our support tonight was fantastic, could only have been 10% of us lot singing but we sang til our lungs gave up and our voices were gone, need more of that next season! But fantastic sing off and banter with the folkestone fans, most of them even took the time to shake our hands on their way to the other half, top football fans. Have a lot of respect for that.

Well done to all the players tonight and good luck to Folkestone in the final, all ways back the team we go out to i say, then we can grace the fact we went out to the best team.

On wards and up wards onto next season, keep 5-6 players and bring in a new back 4 (but keep corrigan at LB of course!!!) , a new winger and play maker in midfield is what we need, think Frankie and Kenny can continue the job next season if hopefully they both decide to stay!

Enjoy your pre season break and see you all next season

Obviously the result was a big disappointment for everyone at the club but, in truth, I really don't think the club was anywhere near ready for a promotion this season.
Many of us thought that for much of the season our position was false and, in the early days, we consistently got points that we didn't always deserve. Our results from Christmas onwards rather better reflected our true standing within the league which were far more 'mid table' than 'top two'. Ultimately we relied on other results to grab a play-off place and really can have no complaints about not going up.
We seem to have got through an extraordinary number of players (just like recent seasons) but, too frequently, 'what had arrived' was no better than 'what we had'. I don't think at any point we really knew what our best team was and players were constantly shuffled around to try to find that 'winning formula'. We struggled at full back and,far too often, we looked devoid of creative ideas through midfield and relied on rather hopeless kick and chase football.
Where do we go from here ? Well, while I have always been a huge fan of TW I think we need him in a coaching not a management role. JM's reign was disappointing; we hoped he would have the contacts to bring in some genuine quality....but it just didn't happen. We need a manager with a good reputation to attract players who will believe that this club has serious ambitions of success as good players won't travel far to play in a mid table position in our league. Hopefully some quality young players will emerge too.
It would be nice to say that this was a season of consolidation and rebuilding.....but I'm really not sure we are in a better state than we were one year ago.
This is SUCH a poor league that we surely must start next season as one of the favourites but, from what we saw of them, Guernsey will take some stopping. Anyway....we await developments with great interest.

Very good performance second half onwards. We played with spirit and took the game to our hosts. By the second period of extra time I really felt that the game could go either way. Really cruel deflection for Folkestones third goal which was against the run of play at that time. I couldn't help thinking how different the season would have been if we could have played like we did last night in every game. Capability is there but consistency let us down over the season. A terrible lack of signings meant that - especially towards the end of the season we were shuffling players into positions that they were not always comfortable in. Time to build now. As Baz said probably 5 or 6 key ones to keep and go from there . Theres no doubt that it's a poor league and our exit strategy starts now. One thing that was good to see last night was passion for the shirt from the players and awesome support from the fans. That's two positive signs for next season right there. Hope we build on it.

Invicta supporter here.
A big 'thanks' to all the fans who came over last evening and made somne tremendous noise
encouraging the team. I know there have been some questions on your forum lately about
desire and attitude in the side, but this was in abundance last night and not for one second
did heads drop.
If lady luck was with you on Saturday at Sittingbourne she packed up and went on holiday too
early yesterday. A real body blow for the winner but 'swings and roundabouts' and at least that
prevented the nightmare of penalty kicks. There was very little between the teams and shame
there was a loser.
Your good luck messages at the end were all appreciated and helped make the evening one to
remember. A very noisy Cheriton Road!
Good luck going forward.

Well done to Folkestone, best stadium and crowd of the season by a huge margin.

Despite the end result a great evening at a very similar sized club to ours starting with the fans 'kick about' within the ground!

As Rimmer said the first half of ET was very enjoyable with both sets of fans next to each other and the good natured banter was in full flow! The 'We hate Dover more than you' sing off was excellent!

The players tried their best on the pitch and to lose like that is heartbreaking. Very proud of all our fans last night, must have been near 200 Hastings in the end!

Probably picked up a handy 2k or so from the shared gate as well with no expenses which should help with rebuilding and strengthening next season.

Be interesting to know why the league take a cut of 26%. I really don't know what gives them the right to claim that seeing as it's the clubs concerned in the play offs that have put in all the hard work all season in staffing the games paying for the up keep of the ground and paying officials fees etc etc. really baffles me.

If Folkestone don't go up, would be very happy to go back there again. Proper club, proper fans.

Got to say that I thought both sets of fans were a class act last night. Loved the banter - even if they did call my drum a biscuit tin! ( which was a bit strange coming from someone holding a "Fisher price" one)
It was hard to take going out to a fluke goal after both sides had put on such a great perfoirmance, but thats football and I wish them well against Leatherhead. Folkestone are a nice club with decent supporters who all shook our hands at the end. What an advert for non league football.

As for the Ryman league - cashing in on 26% of the gate? Their brass fronted neck knows no limits.

Can not disagree with any of the above, great night, exciting games, great atmosphere, had everything, shame someone had to stay in this "godforsaken league", but there you go...........
both sets of supporters done their teams proud. Even managed to get the other half to come ,for her first football match ever, she loved it, even though it was a late by the time we got back.
Best of to Folkestone against Leatherhead, I think their gonna need it.....

(enjoy yourself Winchy?)

Gutted, football can be so harsh.

Agree with everyone, great banter with the fans in Extra-time, and a cracking game. Thought the lads battled well. Really thought we was going to nick it in the end of ET, but it wasn't to be.

Good to see Eldo back in the side too, anyone know if that's a permanent move?

And Mick It was great, right from flying past you on the motorway. Looks like your other half was enjoying the match!

I can't see Rusty coming back permanently Winchy, he still manager of Little Common but proved he can still play at this level. Stroke of genius by Terry signing him on deadline day if you ask me, I really was chuffed when I heard yesterday that he had been signed, he's such a versatile player.
