After the draw against Whitstable Town we will now face at The Pilot Field the number 13th of the Table Worthing Worthing.jpg

The West Sussex side - The Rebels - played 5 games in March for the League and lost 3, drew and won 1. In the Cup they won away to Burgess 0-1 and lost last Monday at home to Peachehaven 1-6.

Hastings have to win this fixture also in mind that next Monday Play Off rivals Faversham visit The Pilot Field. Hope that the injuries who suffered some players from the last games are over so Terry White can bring a full motivated team on the pitch.

Hope to shake hands with fellow Hastings supporters because i will visit both the games on Saturday and Monday.

Not sure what the highlight of tomorrow will be, Bert flying in from Holland or Lee Carey flying in from Worthing? We all dream of a team of Lee Carey's, ..........that song has to make a return tomorrow.

If Bert's coming over to see the match, I don't think a half-time tannoy mention and intro is out of the question.

Always good to see someone following the U's from another country and showing an interest by becoming a regular poster, so to say information posted was 'daft' Is harsh. Enjoy the games

Ha ha! After Berts efforts to get here I'm sure there will at least be a tannoy  mention. It's good that we appreciate his efforts and his support in spite of one sadly typical crass comment which is certainly not representative of Hastings supporters . I look forward to meeting Bert and hearing the " team of Lee careys" song. That is if he hasn't changed clubs by tomorrow!

Solid win, the red card certainly helped us out. Used the extra man well in the 2nd half.

Looking at the league and remaining fixtures, hoping for a Guernsey defeat of course tonight. Also noticed that Folkestone's last 2 games are against Merstham and Guernsey, which could be interesting!

Very little in it for half an hour but once we were a goal and a man up we were never in too much danger. Once again it was a game littered with wayward passes but at least we did at times produce some decent football, albeit against a pretty limited and deflated side.
Actually had Sam Adams as my MotM despite Trevor's hatrick. Also thought Matt Darby and Tom O'Connor got through a lot of good work today. I guess Tom V's withdrawal was part fitness and part tactical as he seemed to be attracting a lot of attention from the ref. Also thought KP did pretty well today although to be honest with a bit more guile we'd have had six today.
Let's hope none of our injuries are too serious....I particularly want to see JJ back as Tim at Centre Back is ageing me significantly.
Finally, great to say 'Hi' to Bert today.....look forward to catching up again on Monday.

Well if a contentious decision ever turned a game this was it. For half an hour we were our normal dire self, hopeless long balls, no cohesion, the front two constantly caught offside, and only one team trying to play football, that being Worthing. Then came that penalty decision and sending off. From where I was, behind the goal, it looked like chest, what do others think? but once the penalty was given the ref had to send him off. Sam coolly slotted it home and after that it was pretty much one way traffic. Trevor, who never stopped running all day hit a fantastic hat trick and Taser had his best game in a Hastings shirt and caused problems all day. But surely that little bit of luck, which by the way was long overdue, surely once again just papered over the cracks. Worthing looked average at best but for half an hour looked much the better side. We have by the looks of things just one fit defender left at the club, three more players went off injured and depending how bad they are, we look like we might struggle to get 11 fit players on the pitch on Monday. Add to this some very disturbing rumors going around about the treatment of Danny Ellis all is still not well at the Pilot Field. But lets take the positives, a much needed win today, with Merstham breathing down our necks, and a win on Monday an absolute necessity. Lets just prey TW works some magic in the transfer market over the next 48 hours.

Nice to meet Bert today and at 7ft 8 tall we could have done with him at the back today.

Re. the penalty John - from my perspective in the lower part of the stand looking directly along the line of the very hard hit shot it was a 100% intentional handball that saved a certain goal. Consequently the penalty and red card was just.

I thought (with others) that we looked dire for the first 20 minutes or so. We started to press and the goal was welcome but not undeserved. Thereafter we started to look a bit better and there were some good touches and good goals. Congratulations to Trevor for a deserved hat trick; but for me, watching my first game in 8 weeks, the player who performed over the whole 90 minutes was Matt Darby; and the player who caught the eye over the last half an hour was Taser. Still though a long long way to go to get to the play-offs and I thought, frankly, we looked less of a team than when I last attended at the end of January.

Would be great to get a couple of decent defenders to enable Sam and Tim to get back to their regular positions for the final push

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to change Sam from right back. I have to agree with Mick in saying he would have been my MoM too. By no means the finished article at right back but think he could have a future there & with Matt Darby getting a deserved start & who looked better as the game went on. I think he did more than enough to warrant retaining his place on Monday. Tim at centre back was at times nerve racking to say the least. Think we also missed him breaking up play in front of the back four. The penalty obviously changed the game & we seemed to relax a bit after the second goal went in & started to knock it about quite nicely & play with a bit more confidence, also playing to our strength which was Taser. I would point out that sometimes it's not so easy to play against 10 men as it should be, as we have found out to our cost many times before. So credit the players for that. 3 points. 4 goals. Clean sheet. Job done!

Agree with much of the above. The penalty and sending off certainly changed the game but how many times in the past have we failed to put ten men to the sword? Today we did and as Kevin said - we looked comfortable after the second. We need to concentrate on getting the best we can out of the current squad and hopefully they will not just be playing for a play off spot but also their place in the team next season . Better than I'd hoped for today. Agree about Sam - Is there a position he hasn't played in?

The penalty changed the game because before that there was exactly no shot on goal . And if we play long balls, nothing wrong with that sometimes, the midfielders must move forward and if we lose the ball they have to move backwards. Like an accordeon. The second half we were in control. Motm for me Trevor, not only because the hattrick but hè runs his socks off. Taser hadsome very nice touches and gave some nice crosses. One point: celebrations after a goal; please with all eleven.

John nothing contentious about pen and sending off. as geoff says it was clearly deliberate and hand to ball not even accidental and right he sent off for it. i was in main stand to and was one of most blatant penalties you see.
performance average again but think that even if worthing had 11 on pitch we still would have won the game. agree sometime harder to play against 10 men as they defend deeper but thought mccreadie, darby, hassan and pogue were good todayt but at the back it very woirrying and show how poor worthing are they did not take advantage

Re. Peter's post above , concerning the penalty; I should have said in my earlier post that I was sitting in the main stand looking directly towards goal. From that angle, as Peter says it was an absolutely certain penalty - in fact quite a good save!

Taser nearly always manages to get a cross of some sort over, often it goes to the near post. Hopefully, either Trevor or Frankie will start anticipating these and get in front of the defenders. At the moment, don't think we are making the best use of his crossing ability. Interesting to see how many of our injured players are fit for tomorrow where another 3 points would be very useful.
