Can the team bounce back ? That will be the main question after a game against the team at the bottom of the table.
Now we will face Whitstable Town current the number 19th of the table.
Belmont Ground, home ground of Whitstable Town. About 50 miles away, 1,5 hour drive to this Kent side.
Managed by Nicky Southall. And Hastings ? Maybe it is better now not to say much before the match and that the boys will come on the pitch with a perfect attitude and give 100% ! So the next match report start with:
Cannot remember the Club and management team giving an apology to supporters in such strong terms before. It will now be interesting to see how the team responds to what I assume was very strong words
I'm expecting a strong response. Hoping the players will show they are up for the fight. I see TW tweeted time for a change, so let's hope this could be the start of a strong finish to the campaign
I agree girling, and very refreshing to see. I would hazard a guess that some players are on an absolute last warning and I would imagine Terry got something similar from DW.
I've just read an article in the Independent where headteachers are complaining about being subjected to the same hire and fire syndrome as football managers. It takes time to build a team, ask David Moyes and Fergie. Give Terry the time to create a squad of his own before calling for his removal.
I was disgusted by the display on Saturday but this constant demand for sacking the manager will not achieve anything.
But the players are good enough, but they just aren't performing for TW, he can't seem to motivate them, its so similar to Sean last season, a bit of glory in the Cup they motivated themselves but in the league they werent interested. With the current chairman I doubt any manager will create a squad ofhis own.
Hopefully TW will not be too successful in inspiring your lads as we are busy trying to get points at the other end of the table.
If you get into Whitstable early and have a taste for real beer you can pop into the Labour Club at 12 Belmont Road (its about 150 metres from the entrance to the ground) There are bound to be a few Town supporters who will be happy to sign you in. Nice garden if the weather is good.

Chris,
the players are good enough but aren't performing for TW. They didn't also for John Maggs, according to the results and performances. Am i correct ? If so why do players - if they are good enough - have to be motivated by a coach ? Can they not motivate themselves a 100% ? I know ( been a coach for 30 years now ) that motivation can make a difference. Can make the last step.
I do not think this is the case that they will not perform for Terry. I think we miss leadership in the team - so i read from a lot of
match reports and reports on this forum. I do not know you in person - like anyone else here - but Terry has managed to bring in some decent players and is building a squad of his own; i just think he gets the support of the chairman ?
Anyway, looking forward to next weekend when i will watch 2 Hastings games. I will be at The Pilot Field with optimism because i think negativity ( not criticism ! ) around the team will help nobody.
But is Terry bringing these players in? Or is someone else bringing them in. Because if I were the manager I would want some defenders not midfielders.
Why would anyone else at the club aside from the manager specifically not want defenders Chris? Not sure what agenda that would serve? I know that the club are looking heavily at at least one already and wouldn't be at all surprised if there was more than that As at least 2 are needed.
If Terry isn't bringing them in then who is? You really don't get it Chris, the only involvement the chairman has regards players is when Terry approaches him to discuss players he wants, it's called being respectful to his boss. Terry is working hard in getting defenders in, I agree that bringing in a midfield player isn't the priority but surely seeing as players are being slated on here about lack of effort etc, if Terry is bringing a player in that may have the desire that others don't, that can't be a bad thing? It wouldn't be fair to judge a player on 1 appearance for a team where he knows no one and not used to their style of play, however I'd like to see him being a bit more dynamic, he may have that he may not I don't know I've not seen him play before. The issue of motivating players is a difficult one, as the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
I promise you Lenny i get it. I think its you that doesn't. You believe what you are told from one source i believe what i have been told from another. Hence we have no chance of agreeing. Just another point even the clubs directors aren't happy with the effort not just this forum. It is also part of man management getting the best out of your workforce if you cant do that you are judged in a negative way, now tell me that's wrong.
You obviously don't, you said the same when John Maggs was in charge, you said the same when Sean was in charge. I suspect that your source is part of the same group as one of those who said that the chairman had also been charged for something he hadn't done not so long ago too, which by the way was complete fabrication.
Think what you want but it's not an individual who has told me but a number of individuals including managers and higher. Unlike you I have no reason to disbelieve any of them but you always seem to know best.
Your problem is that you are like a broken record with nothing positive to say about anyone. Only a few weeks ago you were saying how we are a laughing stock due to the amount of managers we have had, so what's your answer to our current predicament? Sack the manager! Yeah brilliant answer that one. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you have a choice if you don't like it don't come its as easy as that, you don't like it don't subscribe to it.
Very simple response to that Lenny that attitude is why the number of paying punters is down and more people aren't coming, hardly an attitude from someone within the inner circle of the club that promotes the club in a positive manner. I also know what happened in that incident you mention. I am at least prepared to listen to all points of view but you only believe one and knowing your relationship with the chairman is anybody going to tell you anything detrimental about certain people.
I sometimes thing ChrisB has valid point but here cant see that every manager is told what player to bring in. i would think that all chairman does is listen to manager and agree money. players should always be decision for manager and dont think that any different here but simple Chris why dont you ask the manager yourself, get it from horses mouth quite simple i think. you are so obsesed chris i think you are making youself a laughing stock. just ask question straight and then you know
Trust all the supporters will get behind Terry and our squad. Results and performances show we are not quite good enough at the moment to win automatic promotion. Terry ,as John Maggs did before him, knows far more about non-league football than most and as an ex-player and Hastings local is in a good situation to judge the strengths and weaknesses of our squad. He should be given to at least this time next year before being judged. We have a reasonable chance of being in the play-offs-unfortunately don't think we wiill achieve much more. A good time to start planning for next season.
Peter much as i would like to comment on your post, it isn't really possible. But there are a good few people who read this forum that know exactly what i know and a few know a lot more but they choose probably wisely not too post. Our last good manager beat us on Saturday, was he ever given the chance here?

Tim,
I agree with your post. After the relegation last year it is imo obvious that this year has to be a '' learning '' one.
The team changed totally and it needs time to learn the players, what system you want to play with the players available.
So give them time to build; although i will never support a team who don't give 100%.
chris why cant you comment it not possible cos why? a few people know what you know but these few people have they asked manager who made signing. it is easy if you want to know truth to ask the manager if he or chairman sign players but it look like you dont wont truth but you just like to carry on with your obsesion
why should i ask them to deny it, i am not the one questioning who sign players you are. if you want to know askthe question. if not carry on but look like you all mouth and no balls.
good luck to team tonight and hope the players make up for saturday really hope that.
Hopefully all the team will pull together tonight. Go out with a bit of fire in their guts, determined to prove everyone wrong. Put in a good shift and come back with the points.
I don't think we are not capable, I am just concerned that we don't want it enough. Come on lads 100% effort and a 'can do' attitude. When we play with desire we are as good, if not better, than any other team in this division. Let's prove it tonight and start a good run to the end of the season.

Good post Peter, I don't think that will ever happen though, I've advised that he does just that a number of times but my comments have always been ignored.
Poor pitch, poor finishing and players are looking shot to bits, injuries tied Terry's hands behind his back again with subs. All three subs had to be made for injuries with andy, frankie and vickers all going off. Kenny had a good impact when he came on. Onwards and upwards
Whitstable Town fought hard on Tuesday night to gain a point against promotion challenging Hastings United.
Hastings started off the stronger and had the first opportunities. Their first chance came after 16 minutes when the ever dangerous Tom Vickers volleyed well wide from the edge of the penalty area. Two minutes later, Town were saved by excellent defending from John Guest when he headed the ball away under pressure from the Hastings strike force. Town had to wait until 24 minutes when Matt Martin fired the ball straight at keeper Josh Pelling. Luke Watkins had to be at his best when he saved well from Hastings right back Sam Adams after 29 minutes. Hastings had two more opportunities before half time when Vickers set
Dan Keyte seals the point
up both chances. Firstly after 33 minutes he played the ball into Trevor McCreadie who spooned the ball over the bar and then on 36 minutes he fed Frankie Sawyer who looped the ball over the bar. The half ended scoreless due mainly to Town’s stout defending and poor finishing from the visitors.
The second half started in a similar manner with ex Hythe player Taser Hussain sending the ball over the bar within a minute of the restart. Finally Hastings did take the lead through McCreadie who looped the ball over Luke Watkins on 50 minutes. This seemed to spark some life into Town and after 54 minutes Dan Keyte made a good effort to get a shot away but could not get the necessary power. Two minutes later Hassan had another chance for Hastings but shot wide. On 59 minutes Ollie Brown tried to delicately lob Pelling but his attempt went just wide. Two minutes later Laurence Harvey
Charlie Smith nearly snatches winner
this time hit a header that did not dip quite quick enough and hit the top of the cross bar. Then on 68 minutes Town got the goal that their fight back deserved when Keyte was able to squeeze in his header at the far post to bring the scores level. Both sides now went in search of the winner but it was Town who created the better chances. After 74 minutes Aaron Simpson put in a cross that found John Guest who headed just wide. Then two minutes later Charlie Smith broke free and found himself one on one with Josh Pelling but delayed his shot too long and the chance was gone. One last chance for Town when just on 90 minutes Stephen Munn hit a strong shot just wide.
The game finished in a 1-1 draw which was probably a fair result on the balance of the play.
Team: Watkins, Simpson, Parter (Maguire 85mins), Harvey, Guest, Kane, Hafner (Taylor 74mins), Keyte, Martin (Munn 83mins), Smith C, Brown
