I have Surrey Cross Country Championships at Denbies Vineyard 10 miles up the road, starting at 1:45, so may miss the first 30 minutes or so. Hoping both aren't postponed, although I've never known a XC be cancelled yet... ;)
No surprise there. They really could have inspected earlier. Travelling supporters on the trains would have to leave at the same time as the inspection !
Not quite, someone's posted a pic on twitter of their pitch, never in a million years would it have gone ahead. At least with NYD there was a fair glimmer of hope.
Simon was very pessimistic about the game going on the day before. He said that the forecast was dire and the pitch couldn't take any more rain. We waited for the match ref to call off the game, I don't see any difference. Surely all both clubs were trying to do was avoid any more lost games.
To be fair your probably right steve, just does seem frustrating having it called off at such short notice ( relatively ) but as you say every club does it including us in trying to get games on.
Any game that's called off is frustrating as you can relate to Dan having wasted time on putting the programme together in vain. It's not about loosing money it's as you and Steve said its all about getting the game on and having to rearrange fixtures.
