If the weather and pitch conditions are Ok today we play against the number 21 of the table Chipstead.

They lost their last 2 home games against Hythe 2-3 and Three Bridges 3-4. They have a remarkable goal difference of 40-55 !

So they scored more goals then we did but have the worst defense in the League so far. Their top-scorer is Dan Moody, age 22 , was Guilford City's top-scorer in the 2011-2012 season with 32 goals and a further 28 goals in the 2012-2013 season. So that is a guy to look after.

Rhys Whyborne has made a welcome return to our club this week and normally this game has to be no problem for the  U's. Attend : 356

Bert: Weather conditions are currently poor with high wind and light but driven rain. The forecast is for that to continue through the day. The club noticeboard announces a pitch inspection at 10.45. Fingers crossed!

4-2 Hastings, 401 crowd, referee stops game with 11 minutes left, 30 seconds after giving Pogue a red card, two more red cards given when players complain about decision, referee refuses to leave pitch without a police escort to protect him from irate fans, puts in a complaint against the club, results in HUFC playing the next three home games behind locked doors and a £10,000 fine.
Or, in an alternative timeline, Hastings win 6-2 in a thrilling game with two goals (both by Pogue, giving him four in the game) scored in the 89th and 90+3 minutes; bouyed on by the confidence gained to today and ever increasing crowds, Hastings go on to win the league, dropping only 7 points throughout the rest of the season, and go on to great things in the next few seasons.
Such are the alternative versions I see for the 'Trousers of Time'; which leg we go down waits to be seen!

Sterling effort from everyone this morning. If there was no more rain forecast then the pitch would probably be playable but forecast not good for this afternoon. Worst area was in front of the dugouts but to be fair no worse than Monday night. With the risk of conditions deteriorating and us having to pay Chipstead's traveling costs, plus the damage to the pitch, it was the sensible and only decision that could be made.

I've no doubt the right decision was made today. The weather is deteriorating and the forecast is bad. Even if the game had somehow gone ahead the conditions would have made the result unpredictable and the attendance low.

As John has said, there was no option really. Thanks to John and Dennis Smith who braved the rain in an attempt to get the game on. Unfortunately he continuing rain was too much to get on top of.

Well done to all concerned with trying to get the game on. Shame it's off but better to call it now than during the game. Can't get to Ramsgate so I'll see you all in the New Year.
