I have to say that reading today's Hastings Observer has really got my juices flowing! Been given names for two of the players coming in and they both excite me a whole lot more than some of these bloody loans we keep picking up, Josh Hare the exception. As well as those two, McCreadie would be a good acquisition from Crawley and Vickers will also be a useful addition to the squad but Maggsy must control his temperament. Was it 3 reds after Xmas last season? Scored goal of the season for me though over at Whitehawk on Boxing day and clearly has the talent. And finally it's nice to read that there was no indication that he is not ruling out a move for Ade. Him plus the other signings and I do not think there will be any stopping us this season.

Sounds like we may be trying to secure Josh Hare's services as a full back for the next month. That sounds quite an interesting prospect. I think he's a quality footballer and his creative talents possibly wasted in the centre of defence.
But will he play left or right ? Clearly left back is our problem position but Josh has a really sweet right foot and he could be a real threat playing wide on the right. Can we find adequate quality at left back to allow this?

Branco and Pogue aren't good enough, Adams can play midfield plenty of room for Ade.

I watch every home n all weekend away games and by far Kenny looked comfortable and in some games has been a game changer himself

Ken's done ok recently but to be fair has only been a game changer when he came off the bench at Hythe. No one can seriously say Kenny is a better option than Ade.

But he misses so many simple chances, and he is forever getting caught offside, i now don't think he will score if he has a chance.

Kenny is more loyal to the club and will give more effort no doubt in that. Yes ade is probably a better striker but a better offer comes I think ade would go don't think Kenny would

Loyalty alone doesn't win promotion, frankly all I care about is getting out of this awful division where the quality of football is dire, sod loyalty and building a team, let's just get promotion, and I don't think signing Ade will have a negative impact in the changing room.

I'm sure Kenny would be the first to admit he's not as good as Kenny you just have to look at where Ade has played and where Kenny has. When all said and done Kenny is our top goal scorer so far this season and like it or not some of his goal have been influential. To keep putting him down won't make him a better player it will if anything get his back and probably cause more harm than good.
At the end of the day Kenny nor any other player has to impress a single one of us, ts John Maggs he has to impress, he's the one who is paid to pick a winning side and get us out of this league and if he does then its him and no one else who will be tasked with again picking a winning squad.

Will have to agree to disagree on the Ade front Steve. We all have our own thoughts on his loyalty but with regards to effort I don't think I have ever seen a Hastings player give more on the pitch than Ade. In fact Ade and Kenny are very similar in so many ways. Just think Ade has that extra quality and will guarantee you 20 goals a season, as he did with Maidstone last year.  What I will say is whatever happens Kenny has more than deserved a guaranteed squad place for this season but will always prove to be 'marmite' between the supporters. I would always have him in my squad at this level.

I don't think Ade wants the hassle of travelling in the Premier stevie, and if you think about it he has a family on the way and he's not getting any younger so i don't think that if a better offer was made whether he would go, however I do feel we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, the talk of Ade is all speculation, yeah I'd like to see a striker of Ade's ability but knowing how hard John has been working to bring players in I won't be counting any chickens Just yet.

Chris, i always read your posts with interest. Of course you are right that loyalty doesn't win promotion and that promotion is a must. But Sod Loyalty??

I think you are also for a long time Hastings supporter and cares for the club. That is loyalty and the club is always depending on those LOYAL supporters who spend time and money to visit their club. If a player shows that same loyalty to our club and gives always 100 % is very important for me and Kenny has that. So if there will be any changes in the team the new one has to be much better then Kenny.

I have never questioned KPs loyalty or effort, but that alone is not enough, what some on this forum seem to forget is at the level we are playing you don't build teams, you play for the here and now. Frankly if we are honest with ourselves if we gained promotion with our current squad, we would have to bring in 7/8 players next season to stay up. It wouldn't matter how loyal they had been this season we would have to get rid of 5/6 at least because they aren't good enough for Ryman premier. That is the way non-league football works squads rarely stay together for more than a year, sometimes they do but if promotion is gained additions are always made.
Arrows Why do you think I hate KP ? I have only ever questioned his football ability not anything else, and if you think that means I hate him then you are misguided.

I'm sorry but I don't think anyone based in Holland, who does not watch any Hastings games, should comment on things like this. Don't mean to be rude, but really shouldn't get involved in these conversations. As stated, I don't mind Kenny and think he's done alright for us. I also agree with Chris B's last comment regarding this years squad.

Not going to keep the same old tired argument about Kenny going. I disagree about Branco Chris as we have not seen enough of him to make that statement about him. I think he will come good, but have not seen enough of him to qualify his credentials either way . Pleased that we have made a couple of signings but will wait and see before I make judgement

Branco played for the 21's the other night and had a hand in 3 of the 4 goals, I think he has a lot of potential, look what he was like in his debut, he scored 1 and had 2 decent opportunities in 15-20 minutes. Being injured shortly after hasn't helped but hopefully he can find some good form soon.

I've liked what I've seen from Branco so far, shame he has been out for so long. I've got a feeling he's going to be good when he grows and settles in.

Vickers and Dolan should be clear to play today. The normal procedure is that their initial registration is done via email, that then allows them to play for 5 days the league then must receive the original registration form in that time to finalise the registration for the players to continue to play.

No, you don't have to be sorry and you are not rude because i am based in Holland and can't watch the Hastings games.

That is a fact !

My ( subjective )comments on Kenny are purely based on all the match reports I've read and all ( mainly )positive comments on this board.

I think i can do comment and get involved in the '' question '' of being '' loyal '' . For more then 40 years i am supporters of NEC

And had some terrible years in the first division with attendances off only 900 people. Now ourstadium is almost sold out ( 12.500 ) but I have always been loyal to this club also in the bad times. For players it is otherwise i know but this year the management of the club is totally run by ex-players ! And players did come back on the pitch who were 5 or 6 years away and the supporters like that very much and those kind of players can't do much wrong.

Excellent write up on Ronnie Dolan on the Hythe Town website. Sounds like a top, top signing. Can't wait to see him. Equally hilarious write up on the Rye forum about Tom Vickers. JT having his daily rant at the club, owner and it's supporters. I know he keeps a lot of us entertained most weeks.

Good signings and hope we see them monday if water has all gone. Dolan look to be a quality addition and if Vickers can concentrate on football good player to have back. And a left back that has been with Whitehawk must be good so that strengthen our weakest area hoping. JohnW JT on Rye forum who is that? see post from catcher in the rye who hate for all things hastings is funny. some of his posts about the teams they play are embarassing but does make me laugh. he talk of back stabbing supporters and Vickers should stay with a club that shows respect. i dont think he practice what he preach by what i read he says

U21s beat Crawley down 4-0 away tonight. Goals from Branco , corrigan , Shelton and la Matayer. Apparently Bruno pachate technically good but could be more suited to midfield than LB.

The rampaging all-action Ade of a few years ago would be a huge asset to Hastings. However, I'm sure John will have a few words with Gary Wilson about Ade's present state of fitness and why he wasn't playing much for Lewes. Hope he gets a glowing report and Ade is soon smashing in the goals for Hastings.

of a few years ago yeap but cant see Wilson letting a decent player go and guessing he was not just good enough to keep him hanging about at Lewes. Id imagine JM will speak with Wilson and the cover up of work will then be found out. if Ade cant give commitment to Lewes cant see JM will want player that only can play and train when he feels like it cos that will lead to a bad changing room

I see that Rhys Whyborne has re-signed and played for the U21's on Monday, could be very good cover for Judge & Kelly.

Rhys used to be one of my favourite players. Quality centre back. Very quiet and unassuming but quality on the ball. Remember him being voted player of the season in I think 2009-10. Only 27 so a great addition if he still has it. Also see we have young French winger Narins Lenozo who the Observer call jet-heeled. Be nice to add some pace to the side as not a lot outside of McCreadie. Happy daysbiggrin

Great to have Rhys back. I voted for him as player of the season and we were all sad when he called it a day. Glad he's back in a United shirt. Lets hope the new French lad fits well into the squad which is looking stronger again.

I Don't know but is the French lad actually signed for first team use or as another trialist for the U21's at the moment like the other French player who hasn't made a real impression yet?

Ryman League Division One South club Hastings United have signed Kamran Glen from league rivals Burgess Hill Town.

Glen was on the books at both Stoke City and Northampton Town as a youngster.
He also played in the Calor League Southern Premier Division for Kettering Town.
Meanwhile, central midfielder Chris Cumming-Bart has left the Pilot Field to join league rivals Eastbourne Town.
Cumming-Bart joined the U's in October 2013 and scored twice in his first three games for the under 21s, before being handed a senior debut in a League Cup win at Margate.
A former trainee at Brighton, he was released by the Seagulls before he could earn a professional contract.
He has also played in the Sussex County League for Little Common.
