I've read some of the posts on there too Pat and agree that this now needs to be put to bed. If they'd of all took a leaf out of Charlie slocombe book on Saturday and just stood and watched then this issue would never of raised its ugly head.

No Dave - not at all .  I'm beginning to see where the crystal meth comment comes from now. There was a post asking for more  Horsham fans for vocal support that's all. We just wanted to get the message out to reassure anyone that is worried about coming to the match. The forum suggested that the match is a potential "powder Keg " will be on the pitch and not anywhere else.

I have noticed that there is a lot of outrage on the Horsham forum and I think we would probably be the same in that position. There is a lot of banter flying about but also a bit of venom as well. I note on their forum that one has suggested that the game should be pushed to be postponed as it is a “powder keg” and perhaps they should bring more supporters. He may be just referring to on the pitch but I think we need to be clear on this and dispel all doubts as he sounds genuinely concerned.

What happens on the pitch will happen and there is nothing we can do about that, only to support our teams. Any idea of the terraces and stands being a “powder keg” should be quickly reassured. The Hastings supporters are a peaceful lot who like a bit of banter and – yes sometimes that can go a bit far, but there is no need to even think that there would be an issue off the pitch on Saturday. I’m more than happy to have a pint with the lads from Horsham – always seem to be a good bunch. I hope everyone from both sets of supporters  agree with this sentiment and that we can all have a good afternoon and enjoy whatever unfolds pitchside with a beer and healthy debate afterwards.

You really are a plonker Rodney! Get back on the crystal meth Dave.

Back to the game and away from Saturday's controversy. What kind of team will we have out as i can see a few changes? Is Branco fit? if so would like to see him start to give us something different up top, albeit Kenny did well on Saturday. I assume Josh Hare will slot straight back in the center of defence and we should also have back the outstanding Tom O'Connor. Will he start? That just leaves the left back position. Cannot believe Jono will start so will Maggsy go with Gilbert or Corrigan? Whatever his selections we will have a much stronger team/squad this weekend.

As John has said we'll have a better squad on Saturday, I reckon it'll be close but will nick it by an odd goal.

Well they will have played an extra game this week so hopefully they tire easily. Don't think they will though. They will be well up for it and it won't be an easy game. That said - as has been mentioned- we do have some options for Saturday so we will be a bit stronger. We need to learn the lessons though. Gave them too much of the ball last week

I think it'll be a tighter game on Saturday and one with lots of talking points. Horsham will be well up for it and will be a huge boost for us and Mr. Maggs if we can get another result from them - I'd 100000000% take two clear at the top!

It really is a massive weekend in the Ryman South. As well as our tough game v Horsham the top 10 all play each other with just 5 points separating 4th from 10th.

Leatherhead (9th) v Crawley Down (4th)

Ramsgate (6th) v Walton Casuals (1st)

Walton & Hersham (7th) v Faversham (8th)

Guernsey (10th) v Worthing (5th)

Still think Leatherhead, Guernsey and dare I say Horsham, will be our closest rivals this season so a couple of draws and a Hastings win will do me just fine.

That would be the perfect outcome John and would open up an even bigger gap from the chasing pack, I have a feeling Ramsgate may get a win Saturday. Worthing are starting to put a bit of a form together too can only see a draw at best for them though.

What are the chances of getting 500+ tomorrow ?
Clearly Horsham are going to bring a fair few, buoyed up from their perceived injustice last week and a great victory over the league leaders midweek.
We always seem to get more for league games than 'early round' cup matches and there's certainly been plenty of pre-match hype at both clubs this week.
So I reckon we'll get our biggest league crowd of the season tomorrow and may get near the 500 mark.
And of course lovers of The Buzzc0cks and Squeeze are guaranteed to get plenty of music to their liking !

I was surprised last week how low the attendance was for a Sussex derby - maybe there will be more for this one. It certainly has all the ingredients for a cracking game and after last weeks drama I think we should top 500. Very nice of Arrow FM to give me a mention. I'm always open to super smashing offers!

It states " Maggs said he was working on bringing  in a player on loan and if successful, the man in question will start". Sounds like a new one to me, not Josh who has already played twice for us.

Bit appropriate that it was Tim who scored the first after getting sent off last time and one of the Horsham players who got sent off last week scoring the own goal!

While lacking the obvious flashpoint of last week, the two matches were actually pretty similar in how they played out.
First half was a pretty dull affair with a lot of mid field attrition and neither sets of forwards managing to produce too many chances. As with last week, I thought Horsham just about had the edge and maybe just about deserved a first half lead.
Once again, after about an hour, the balance shifted and our superior fitness began to show through and suddenly we were creating chances at will. So no 'punch up' this week for Horsham fans to claim changed the course of the match; just our ability to keep up the pace in the last twenty minutes while our opponents tired.
In fact there was only one controversial decision all afternoon, KP's disallowed goal, where his action was certainly no worse than what he had been subjected to all afternoon.
So,once again, a far from convincing performance but good enough to beat our opponents. How often have we said THAT this season ?
Looking at individual performances, I thought the two Josh's were excellent today, as was Ben. Tim and Matt did well in the middle and, as ever, Sam and Danny, provided the engine that allowed us to up our game in the latter stages. Still feel we have a problem at left back and Bailo proved frustrating again today. And finally KP ! Well, you can't fault his effort but I feel he struggles to make any impact through simply not quite being good enough at this level. Please let's not build a starting line up around him. Keep him on the bench for an hour and THEN unleash him when the game has slowed and he can use his pace to terrify defenders.

PS just to say, I wrote this before reading John's assessment..but plenty of similar opinions.

Game of 2 halves today. First half Horsham were much the better side and although they did not carve out chance after chance, deservedly went in 1-0 up. Where did the goal come from? surprise, surprise, down our left flank. Hastings were dreadfully poor again, unable to thread two passes together and to be honest it was a complete bore of a performance.

2nd half completely different story and obviously a well deserved bollocking was taken on board. Dominated the first 25 minutes as Horsham completely switched off and visibly tired in midfield. Timmy and Danny started to dominate the midfield and Hastings deservedly took the lead through a Timmy header and an own goal. This after Kenny had a perfectly good goal disallowed. After that Hastings missed chance after chance but only a magnificent save by Josh kept us ahead.

So yet again a great result but average performance. Horsham can count themselves very unfortunate not to get anything out of the two games but I think we deserved the win today based on our 2nd half performance. Hard to pick a MOM, thought Timmy was excellent and a will be a big loss when suspended. But I would give it to Josh Pelling. Not only because of that save but also because he never seems to get a mention. Has been outstanding all season and cannot remember him making 1 mistake all year.

New left back please!!!!!!!

Obviously agree with JohnW.Pretty awful performance in the first half but vast improvement in the second.Wasn't at last weeks game in which I understand we were very poor.Maybe we underestimated Horsham last week and got lucky.Along with their performance against us and their good win in the week we gave them due respect today(too much in the first half).

Can't disagree with anything there Mick. There can be no complaints from Horsham this time as we were simply better - mostly in the second half. We would have won by a lot more - but several times there were individual attempts at glory when a simple lay off would have resulted in a much better chance. Still , we are on a good run and maybe our best performance is just round the corner!

Impressed with how we come out in the 2nd half. We pushed up and took the game to Horsham. Still 1 off top with a game in hand, it's just nice to see us winning! I can't remember a game either where we didn't make a single sub. We didn't need to 2nd half though, the team were playing well, which was a good decision by Maggs and Terry to not make a sub just for the sake of it.

The Pilot Field seems to be becoming a bit of a fortress too. I wonder if 10 home games in a row is a club record? We've taken full advantage of them all anyway. Onwards and upwards.

Well done fellas = had to follow proceedings from work - almost as they happened thanks to Twitter and Footballwebpages. Oh to think back to wearing the battery out on the remote as you ploughed through several hundred pages of Teletext.......

Anyone remember old Curly I think his name was - he used to sell the Argus on a Saturday evening opposite what is now McDonalds but was then the excellent DiMarcos cafe? All the results would be on the back page.

The left back conundrum still an issue?

Left back is a major issue still Simon. So much so that opposition now seem to be aware of our problem. Almost every attack and every long ball from Horsham yesterday was aimed down our left flank and no surprise once again that the first goal came down that side. Jono and Akwasi have been given more than enough opportunities and failed most of the time and Maggs clearly doesn't fancy Corrigan, although I think some supporters do. Not sure what happens once Josh Hare's month loan is over. Do we have an option for an extra month or is he just cover for Kelly's suspension? Surely one of them could slip into left back. They cannot do any worse.

I have actually been rather disappointed with our transfer activity. I know they have looked at numerous players but we are now nearly 2 months into John's  tenure and have an unproven, injured Brazillian and a couple of loan players. Yesterday starting 11 bar Josh Hare, was actually the team Sean Ray had put together and our bench looked very lightweight indeed. I think John has been very fortunate with injuries so far but please imagine a serious injury for Ben Judge, Sammy, Matt or Danny, coinciding with Timmy's suspension. We have absolutely no cover whatsoever. The winning run is still covering the cracks in our squad, but that luck could run out at any time and for me nothing has changed from the calamitous performance at Merstham back in September, we are still 3 or 4 players short of a title winning squad.........in my opinion.

Highlights of yesterday's game are now available on the Horsham fans forum.
A few things occur to me.....1) how much space Tim had to score his goal 2) still no idea why Kenny's goal was disallowed 3)awful OG by King.....bet he's glad he's not coming back to the PF for a while 4) cracking save from Josh to earn us the points.
