DOH! Well spotted Danno. Well like I said, don't know what happened and don't particularly care. I Like Mark and think he done a great job, don't care what anyone says. Certainly have a good CV with "Took non league Hastings to the 3rd round of the FA Cup"

I see he has gone but was he sacked? If so it must be something that has happened behind the scenes as he's done nothing wrong football wise. Lot of time for Mark and would like to thank him personally for everything he has done over the past few years for the club. Top bloke!

Oh come on what do you expect, new manager, new ideas, new structure, new personal dynamics, of course someone was likely to go, as long as it was Maggs who did it and not the chairman then it's ok, those of you who who are 100% behind Maggs should have no problem whatsoever.
Can someone one attach a picture of Mark's status and comments please - I don't have his as a friend on Facebook. Shocked at this decision too, didn't see it coming. The same with Dane!
Thought there might have been an official statement on the club website by now ...quick enough to remove his profile...a bit disrespectful after all his hard work .
The profile and picture were removed from the offiical website around the time of the Guernsey match, presumed reason was in the match programme it announced he had been appointed Under 21 Manager.
In regards to what ChrisB is saying, I am 100% behind Maggs, but, IN MY OPINION, I don't think it's the right decision to sack him. Sean and Mark build up a good side after a difficult end to last season' and before Maggs came in, we were doing fine. We hadn't lost. Since Maggs has arrived we've lost 2/3. I'm not saying its Maggs' fault, because he didn't have a lot of time to make a huge impact in that short amount of time, so probably because we were just playing poorly and coincidence, but, alas, still, I don't think that sacking Mark was the right decision - but hey, that's my opinion, and we all have one of those. I still believe Maggs can do well for us, but only the future and time will tell.
Liam, with all respect how do you know what has been said between the 2, they might have disagreed on the way to do things in which case he had to go. If you support Maggs respect his decision as the right one.
Not surprised really I think it fair for John to not make changes to management to start with and he weigh up if he can work with what was at club and now Maggs has made decision that for whatever reason some people have had to go either cos he could not get on with them or they could not get on with him. Shame but as someone said many sugeested Maggs as manager, when he got job most were happy so this is just a part of Maggs doing his own jigsaw to hopefully see us promoted.
just seen this on website and presume Johnw was on the case of poor old Mr Crone! Egg on face, what a plonker!
Just over a month since his appointment, United boss John Maggs continues to mould his playing squad, with a couple of recent arrivals and departures, whilst there have also been changes in the backroom team at the Pilot Field this week.
Mark Stapley, former assistant manager to Sean Ray, and recently appointed Under 21 boss, has now left his role with the U's, as have both Dane Martin and Michelle Churchman. The Club would like to sincerely thank all three for their valuable contributions and wish them well for the future. Meanwhile, it's a warm welcome to Jordi Gumbrell, who has been appointed as United's new physiotherapist.
On the playing side, new signings Suleyman Bah and Charlie Slocombe have each made their senior debuts in the last seven days, the latter having joined on a dual registration basis from Tonbridge Angels.
Attacking midfielder Matt Maclean has departed for a spell with Eastbourne United Association, while striker Jamie Crone has returned to his former club Little Common. Both were intended to be dual registration arrangements, but it has been brought to the Club's attention that Crone has been posting comments under an assumed name on the Supporters' Club Forum, some of which have been completely unacceptable. He has therefore been advised that he is no longer part of the United's future plans.
Maggs remains committed to further developing the quality of his squad, particularly in the striker department, but firmly believes that patience will be a virtue in trying to attract the right type of players. He is perfectly happy with the vast majority of the current squad though, who have all contributed to a fine start to the season of course, with the U's currently well placed in the league table, holding a game or two in hand on the four sides above them, as they look forward to tomorrow's visit to league leaders Walton Casuals.
What a pleasure it is to have a proper manager in charge of the club. standing no nonsense and making clear decisions. Right to send Crone on his way for posting on here hopefully he will learn from that.
Maggs is beginning to shape the club into a more professional set up and in time this will show in the squad he assembles.
it's been a long time since we had leadership like this and long may it continue.
so crones immaturity and obvious disappointment with the removal of mark has been swiftly dealt with. I also agree its right to send him on his way, shame really because he could have been an asset to us but if a player cannot accept managerial decisions then quite plainly is not a team player so 100% will not be given.also I notice 5 or 6 other players have removed(deleted) their similar postings on twitter, facebook and other media sites, very wise the internet is a very damaging thing and hopefully this will help others from making the same mistake.i do wish mark all the best in the future though.

That's all I asked for ,,,,just a statement ,,,,it stops rumours and speculation ,,,,,thank you
You're right ChrisB - no one knows what gone on between Maggs and Stapley, they are the only ones that know. Yes, I respect the decision of Maggs. No, I'm not sure if I agree with it. Yes, I'm behind Maggs and if something has happened between the two, them fair enough. If they had disagreed on things, then fair enough. Maggs is experienced enough to know how he wants to do things and I will fully support his decision, regardless whether I think it's right or not.
steve every player in every team across the world has an opinion and often disagrees with team decisions, and although maybe this situation could have been dealt with between the lad and the club sometimes an example must be made to stop this continually happening so as said before unfortunate for crone but the right decision has been made, and its hardly as if he cant go to other clubs is it.As long as they don't start banning us fans from the pilot field for our opinions that's all good.
Yeah there been many players and even staff putting things so why crone the only one why not just a quiet word from john don't do it again and leave it there it's a joke its a free world he was a star to be for us and we let him go that easy
Its not a free world, you cant say things that aren't true and demographically offensive. Anyway you don't want silly comments unsettling dressing room, we had dixons immature attitude last season, and combined with Sean ray rants in the press, we saw the fallout. Maggs is quite right to stop it right away. Crone needs to look at himself, and hopefully will see his errors and come back to us in the future a better player and person.

I thought the Maggs appointment was excellent at the time and I am still of this opinion. We need to be patient and have trust instead of all this negativity. Why is anyone shocked that Stapley has left. Maggs has come in assessed the players and staff and has made his decisions. It's clear Maggs didn't want or need Stapley so he goes. Manager's have to be comfortable with their staff and he clearly wasn't happy with Stapley.
Move on, obviously Stapley is disappointed but hey, that's football. All this "what a great job you did Mark!"....was he not also involved in our relegation. I take it Terry remains on the staff, must have more to offer. Being a good bloke and talks to the fans isn't always what a new manager needs. If Stapley is that good I am sure he will be snapped up by another club at this level or above to do some cheer leading very quickly - wait and see, I hope so.
