Firstly I'm sure we will all condem the Hastings 'fan' who decided to kick a hole in the Faversham toilet wall that we will have to pick up the bill for now. Disgracefull behaviour that tarnishes the Passion shown by what must have been near 80 - 90 traveling fans.
Utter disgrace.

Well that was the wake up call we all needed! For the first 20 minutes today Hastings played some really nice stuff and were dominating the game although we only created some half chances. For the next hour or so we were dire. Out muscled, outfought and outclassed we lacked any bite up front, no creativity in midfield and in Jono Richardson, a player incapable of passing a ball to one of his own players. If not for the normal heroics by Judge and Kelly and 2 fantastic goal line clearances we could quite have easily lost by a hat full. Although I must add if the referee had done his job properly he would have sent off the Faversham keeper after 10 minutes for a chest high challenge on Kenny. He then trumped that by giving Faversham a penalty and their 1st goal after a ridiculous handball decision.
So a big reality check today. We were very poor 2nd half with only two long range efforts from Ellis and a couple of half chances elsewhere. The Faversham keeper did not have to make one decent save in the 90mins and all in all a huge disappointment. New players still needed urgently and a couple of rumors today of some big news on the horizon. It cannot come quick enough.
I wasn't able to get to today's game but am still disappointed, though not totally surprised, by the outcome. Clearly Faversham are one of the better sides in our league and it seems today was the day that our luck ran out and we actually got what we deserved........ Nowt !
I guess the only surprise was that this defeat actually followed our most impressive performance last Saturday. Agree with John that we are probably still short of maybe three or four quality players. A successful team cannot carry ANYONE and while we're certainly not the worst in this league, we definitely need strengthening to get out of it.
Agree with John W about the football side of things. We were found wanting - especially second half . However, I can take defeat on the chin like the next man. What I can't take is the behaviour of that Moron who caused a lot of damage and has disgraced himself and the club. Really embarrassing in front of very welcoming hosts. Hope he gets banned.
Agree, if anyone has any more defiante proof or knowledge of who did it please let us know ASAP, aside from the obvious result on the pitch and this ****wits actions it was a really enjoyable day out at a very welcoming club like pat says.
Me too Dan. When you see how hard their volunteers have worked on the ground over the last few years its even more shameful. I couldn't look them in the eye at the end .
United seemed to deflate big time after that second bad decision that resulted in the Faversham penalty. Several examples of officials reacting to Faversham appeals for non existent fouls with the icing on the cake being that penalty. How that could ever be construed as deliberate handball will always be beyond me. United had started off both halves well with the Pogue/keeper incident (keeper got away with that big time) that saw the first refereeing **** up early in the game.
Faversham 11 was a constant thorn and the home side were stronger after they had their undeserved penalty break and it was no great surprise when they wrapped it up late on. Frustrating though that the spells that United had in charge saw them looking pretty good against average opposition. The side needs beefing up - two or three new faces.
And for now, look forward to the return and hope that crap decisions even themselves out. We ended up beaten by a determined home side that took full advantage of their refereeing breaks, a side that finished comfortable winners, much as it pains me to admit it.
Doncha love bad language detection software? What I said in my previous post at the end of the first paragraph was "refereeing c o c k up" which doesn't strike me as overly contentious - but then that software doesn't understand context does it!
Now then - let's see if I got away with writing it that way.....
You are talking to yourself Ss - I'm sure that's an early sign of madness! I think you hit the nail on the head though - we did deflate very quickly especially after their penalty. With recent comebacks against Hythe and Ramsgate I guess I thought we had buried some of the ghosts of the past but maybe not completely . They did outplay us certainly but If we had responded more positively to the penalty we may have got something but I use the word "may" as I couldn't see where a goal was coming from second half at all. Their second was well taken but really only a result of us throwing bodies forward. Only one defeat but hopefully as John says - a wake up call.
I hope this isn't put down as a bad performance. It needs to be put down to the team not being good enough, The goals for column is relegation material, and needs addressing immediately.
Think we was better team first half but second half was **** no threat at all we were missing a lot of forward threat bailo Jamie Jordan tom Have faversham not got cctv to hunt down who caused the trouble/hole ??
Its criminal damage, Dan suspects someone as do a couple of others, so they must have their reasons, next time this guy tries to enter the pilot field he should be barred, and if he wants to take it further let him.
Agree with everything said, good first 20 minutes but then dier ! Ref was a shambles , thought we had bad ones in the premier league but then welcome to the south i guess !!
Suspect was an annoying little ****- i may do silly things but he was a nut case who probably was dropped at birth !
Where are the likes of crone bailo and Jordan. Feel they would have changedthe game even if they were to come off the bench? Jordan with his vision and technical ability bailo is always a threat and crone could have got the ball and run at opposition defence scaring them back into their own half?
I thought bailo was back now? Clearly I was wrong. Didn't know Jamie and Jordan was going away though? Just as Jamie got himself a regular in the starting 11. Will he now have to go back on the bench and earn his place again?
First loss after 11 games. I think we don't have to panic. It is a complete new team and if our ambition ( and need ) for a quick return then it is a different story. Then a goalscorer is our first target.
Unfortunately Dan some will have to go. DW said yesterday he currently has a squad of 21. With 2 or 3 players to arrive in the next couple of weeks John Maggs will have no choice but to trim the squad.
And Bert, you don't get to games as you are abroad but if you would have seen the performances this season we could have just as easily lost every game despite going 7 unbeaten. So i believe there is a panic to get in 2 or 3 players.
Given all that was said pre season, the rejigged team, new coaching and managing set up etc etc - third in the division early September is actually rather good given that the side undoubtedly needs those two or three new faces and hasn't really got going yet.
The league table stats say it all - one of the tightest defences but lightweight in attack where Kenny Pogue needs some quality assistance to compliment his 100% commitment. I wonder if there any Duncan McArthur, Steve Yates and Paul Jonesalikes to be had? Let's see who John Maggs can find.
And on the subject of Maggs - good to see Walters make a sensible appointment. If we can just get those new faces in - and again - that's over to the owner. He makes the final decision.
Good to get another new ground under my belt - I remember in my fanzine producing days doing an article on Phil Donaldson who, then, had around 200 odd grounds following United, Town and United again. I clocked up 107 at Faversham, will never catch Phil and the likes of Messrs Ormerod, the Glaziers etc etc - but 107 shows up all that tosh about the 92 club that pro football followers waffle on about!
Quite right, we need at least five new and better players. Several of current squad can be released as they're just not good enough, although I understand they don't get paid if they're not in the squad. Of the four goals we've conceded two have been penalties so the main worry is midfield and up front.
I agree with all that is being said. We do need some additions but as I saw a comment before we already have a squad of 21 what players would you say we should release to bring in new players?
No need to release anyone unless they want to go. They can play in the Under 21 team, remember they don't get paid if they're not in the first team squad.
Well I'll start the debate as I've seen every minute of this season. My first job would be to give Bailo an ultimatum, are you committed or not?. He seems to have barely played in the last 2 seasons and is either working or on holiday.
Jordan Woodley, who has all the talent in the world, needs to get fit and quick.
Jack Shonk, after playing nearly all of pre season has not had a look in so I assume he may be one to leave.
I personally do not think Andy Henson is good enough and the jury is out on Jono Richardson and Tom Gilbert. I do understand that Jono is perhaps being played out of position but his passing is abysmal. Gave away possession so many times on Saturday.
And perhaps my biggest disappointment of the season has been Matt Mclean. He gets in some good scoring positions but has no pace and lacks strength and vision. I don't really see any improvement in the player who was with us a few years ago and I fear he may end up being just an outstanding county player. I would loan him back to Rye to regain some confidence and get some playing time.
Tom oconnor is a good player and don't think he should be gotten rid of anytime soon? What are people's views on crone now we have seen him at this standard
Crone is a better striker than winger so I don't believe we have seen his best yet and I remember a month ago or something someone saying about rob kember who is he?? I still believe we should of kept Scott McDonald scoring a lot for rye and did for development side last yr never given a chance in my eyes
But crone may be played on the wing for this season as it's his first time in this league. He's not the strongest yet and maybe kenny does a better job than crone upfront
