Finished 2-1 albeit Thamesmead scored with last kick of the game.

Hastings looked much better and could have had 3 or 4 easily, hit the bar too.

Jordan Woodley played very well and the new left back from Millwall had a stormer! Crone looked sharp when he came on and Timmy O was a lot fitter and it showed.

Much more positive against a higher grade side

Didn't see anyone say the club is perfect ( i was as honest about the Westfield games shortcomings as anyone ) but that the performance today was a lot better than the previous two with some positives.... Is that fair enough? The score really didn't reflect the sides dominance today which was encouraging, we'll have to wait and see how we get on against a full strength Borough side on Tuesday... Could be a different story.

Your right, it was a friendly and we've got 6 more to go so have to wait and see but having seen all 3 matches so far, today's performance showed good progression against a fairly decent side and everyone I spoke to at the end ( including the members of the club is up **** creek brigade ) felt the same.

Glad KP got a goal too, great turn and hit from 20 yards ( possibly GK should have done better but good from KP ) hopefully give him confidence going into the season.

Dunno but wouldn't have expected barely anything against Thamesmead as they have no fans and no pull.

Maybe 120?

The moaners like me didn't go as this one was playing cricket, However, I will ask the club is perfect brigade this, when we lost it was only a friendly you mostly said, so today it's only a friendly, so don't get high and mighty, if we win the league then fair enough, but not yet please.

ive been quite critical but today was very decent and compare to last week was unexpected on a hard bobbly pitch. the new left back looked capable and Woodley was superb. if he can stay fit and focus he will be tough to play against. Peling made some decent saves. the players past the ball well first half and thamesmead were given little time to play but i suspect they got a kick up backside second half.

much better but jury still out as just 1 game and just friendly

I've not commented about the pre season friendlies deliberately due to I know exactly what the replies would be but now we've won one I will say what I would of said...it is exactly as it says a PRE season friendly and means nothing at all but getting a squad ready and fit for the season ahead it also gives the manager a chance to look at new players and to establish what sort of formations he should go with.
I don't always see eye to eye with ChrisB but on this occasion I must side with him the season ahead is what is important, yeah it's nice to get a win under the belt but come August 10th onwards that counts.
It was a good performance today still some work to do though and I think we certainly need a good 25 goal a season striker, there's a lot of young lads in the squad now ie Shonky, Jamie Crone to name a couple but given time they will come good, I've known Shonky since he was a young lad I even had a couple of seasons coaching him and if he can stay fit he will be instrumental in midfield he is a very creative player who can spot a pass and also knows where the goal is. Jamie again I've known for a few years he's very quick and knows where the goal is but this is a big step up for him from County two but I believe given some encouragement he will be a very valuable asset for the club. The young lad Jacob Shelton who came on at the end is another good goal scorer whether that will be with they 1st team or U21's I don't know but its good to know players are available within the club like him.
As for JJ, I can't see Sean not playing him because of the negative comments on here however given that there was very little options for a centre half for the Brighton game then I can also understand why he played him but that would of been the only time I would of played him as like many have said he won't be here come August.
Talking to the only Thamesmead sub that stayed out at half time he told me that they were getting an earful during the break and because he was going on soon after was told to go outside. I believe they looked better in the second half which may be due to the ear bashing.
Tuesday will be a better test and as long as the performance is a competitive one I will be happy regardless of the result.

Pre-season results meaningless, don't get down about defeats or up about wins. It's an opportunity for new and old blokes to have a run out, get back into playing again etc etc. The real thing is when points are at stake. And Ryman South will be tough to get out of.

Arrows you are suggesting that we all turn up and watch all friendlies, sod being active in a sport yourself, what other sports do you want to stop football supporters participating in. What a sad reflection on you your post is.

I think Chris B is right  - we cant say “its only a friendly “ when we lose and then think we are champions league elect when we win! Whether we win or lose , it is what it is, and that’s just a friendly and a chance to have a look at a few players

. I have to say though that like Peter R – I thought there were some good performances. I also liked the LB Kwasi Edeusi , a young lad from Millwall who looked quite a handful for Thamesmead who struggled with us in the first half in particular. Good to see good contribution from all the players, but I wont get carried away just yet.

As for the comment about watching a friendly instead of playing cricket? I’m sorry Arrows but that surely cannot be what you meant?? If it is, then God help me as I’m going to White Hart Lane instead of Chipstead!

I had to comment even though I am 5000 miles away on holiday. It is only July for Christ's sake and the schools haven't broken up yet. I don't like missing any games but it is a friendly not the end of the world. As for playing other sports surely we should support people who play rather than sitting around getting bored. I think the season starts too soon and August is early enough. See you all in three weeks.
