Agree , all ways had a feeling we would win , but annoying carlshalton won meaning no miracle in the world would keep us up , but looking forward to next season as i all ways am
Fantastic support with the return of Joe and skin, including the conga and a sing off with the fantastic kinstonian fans, we evan sang some songs together which was great!
Happy about Sean staying, he can gain more experience and learn from mistakes and not just wonder what went wrong sitting on the couch!
Going to be a long pre-season
FORWARD
It took me longer to do the 10 miles on the M25 from Croydon than it did getting from the hotel in Brussels back to Heathrow; so I missed the first half (and the goal ) - but we did a great job in the second half...
When's the FA Cup coming back to the Pilot Field; and are we still planning on auctioning off some stuff from the Boro game? I may have made that last one up, I can't remember if I made that up...

Always thought we would win this one but of course it didnt matter in the end anyway, Carshalton winning meant we stayed bottom as Lewes stayed up on goal difference only...

Enjoyed yesterday especially our brilliant fans. Lets hope we can keep the players that Sean wants so he can get on with building a squad not just for next season but for the future of the club.
When are we having the meeting to elect a committee for the supporters club Dan?
Secretly a little bit gutted though, I intentionally didn't come back during the week from London to see it at the PF in December as I thought I'd be able to plan it a bit better in May... Oh well... Just got to get to the third round again next year eh?

I think it’s a wise move to set out the club’s position re the manager for next season early on to eliminate speculation that would have no doubt resulted in nothing being said. At least the FA Cup run has put us in the best financial footing to have a tilt at Ryman One.
I’m not sure how to feel about Sean staying on so soon after the relegation with what I still feel is the strongest squad we’ve had at the PF for a number of seasons (thinking especially of the Hopkinson side which stayed up a few years back). It could be argued that with Sean being Hastings through-and-through and knowing how much the relegation has hurt, he’ll be as motivated as anyone to get us back up first time of asking. He speaks well and appears to have the contacts to manage as this level.
I do have concerns that the showing of the side in the last quarter of the season. Especially discipline (or lack of it shown) and what that says about the respect the players have for the management staff and that perhaps the dressing room, or parts of it, was lost. If not that then maybe it’s that we are missing a stronger personality on the side lines when Sean is on the pitch. Someone who at least can prevent Sean from getting into positions where he’s facing playing suspensions for incidents occurring when he’s confronting referees as a manager. We are significantly weaker without him in the team and he is the natural leader in the side no matter who is wearing the armband.
Dropping down will at least mean hopefully mean seeing a few more than the 8 league wins next season. Getting back into winning football and the winning mentality could galvanize this clearly talented squad.
Here’s hoping anyway…

Very surprised how quite it has been on here since the Kingstonian match, especially after the Dave Walters speech at half time and the raucous boos and heckling from a section of the main stand aimed towards him.
Firstly the match and fair play to the lads for really putting the effort in and seeing us off with a win. Must have been very difficult and to be fair Kingstonian looked like they couldn't give a toss, but a wins a win and I thought we won fairly comfortably.
Well done to Danny Ellis for player of the season. He has been terrific all season and thoroughly deserved the award. Also congratulations to Bradley for his goal of the season at the Riverside. Just disappointing he couldn't be there to collect it and don't believe we will ever see him grace the Pilot Field again. He really was a terrific player but don't think the injury episode was handled particularly well by anyone.
And finally the DW speech at half time. Quite amazed no one has commented as yet but perhaps those in the anti brigade are speaking with their typing fingers and doing what they promised, by not posting anymore or going further and refusing to go to anymore games next season as two told me. Either way, for those that were not there or could not hear DW confirmed that Sean will remain as manager next season and he will be backing him financially to hopefully enable a quick return to the Ryman Premier. There was no mention of Mark Stapley and I spoke to Hugo on twitter on Saturday and he was unsure of his position and had not yet spoke to Sean or Dave.
So the decision is made. Sean stays! I'm pretty sure there will be a 50/50 split on here to whether that is right or wrong but the fact is, it is a done deal and the supporters have to get on with it whether they agree or not. I can see both sides of the arguments for sure, but I'm pleased we still have Sean as a player.
Will there be a major clear out of players now? or will they try and keep the bulk of the squad and add a few? Obvious to everyone that we need one or two strikers, possibly some muscle in center midfield, and a bit of pace out wide wouldn't go a miss. I personally hope the bulk of the squad stays together and is given the chance to put right the wrongs of this season and get us back up at the 1st attempt.
I was gutted like everyone else that we were relegated, but its done, I'm over it, we know who the manger is going to be, like it or lump it, so I'm already looking forward to the new season.
Pretty much agree with everything JohnW says in his post ( shocked me that did! lol )
A solid striker who scores goals is exactly whats needed, Someone like Stuart King at Maidstone or even Andy Atkins from Rye whould do a good job. We should be able to attract these type of players
I think most of the current squad should be more than strong enough for the Ryman South with one or two additions to replace the loan players such who will leave such Freddie Warren, N'Diaye, Daniel East etc
Hopefully we can hold on to Rory Murphy at LB as i rate him, dont think keeping him or even Bradley & Liam O'Brian is 100% out of the question yet although obviously very unlikely as proabbly going to be snapped up by highre level clubs as they all should be really.
Dont know why Bradley couldnt come ( though ive heard hes popping down in 10 days or so... :) but was great to see Laim back down with his dad, both great people and genuinly seem to really appreciate the way whe've taken Liam as one of us this year, wish them both all the best!
Im glad that Dave was adamant that money will be invested into the playing squad next season with the intent of a swift return, talking to him after the match it surprised even me how much was actually spent this season on the new players since Jan, whether they turned out be value or were the right options in hindsight is obviously a different question!, some more than others obviously!
Oh well, looking forward to seeing different grounds ( possibly Guernsey?! ) winning hopefully a lot more matches and building a revitilsised squad that can build on a promotion and take confiednce into the following season. Think we've had a strugglers mindset over recent seasons and maybe a reset is now required....
Shame on the relegation after the cup heroics did think hastings would stay up, but never replaced Goldberg and the goals dried up did see supporters on facebook page mentioning Mcdonalds name in the reserves proven goalscorer and why he was never utillised more?.
Macca is a fantastic goalscorer at county and reserve football level and scored goals in the League and sussex cup for us against the smaller teams but possibly was a big ask for him at age 36 to lead the line regularly for the 1st team in the Ryman Premier this season, he is a quality player at those levels mentioned though and dont know what his intentions are regarding still playing but could definatly do a job at Ryman South level for us.
Scott has n been scoring goals in the reserves quite a lot and he has really grown on me, as well as being a really nice bloke, you must remember though its the reserves and the difference in leagues isnt massive but there is a obviously a gap however I do feel he's worth a go in the Ryman South despite his age.
i still stick by Sean should not of been sacked prior to the end of the season, given the short time till the end of the season and the amount of fixtures that had to be played a new manager not knowing he players would have, I believe a nightmare in trying to change the side into a winning side, he wouldn't of been able to of brought in new players so it would of been in my opinion an impossible situation. As the saying oes better the devil you know.....
I do feel that some things need to be changed next season though, I'm dead against the decision to drop the reserves/U21 squad for next season, ok I may have a personal interest in it however that aside, I do feel that dropping the proposed u21 squad for an u18s is a backward step, I would, and so does everyone I have spoken to, think the better option would be to drop the 18s and play the u18s in that league, you could also use the older players for cover for the first team if need be, this would also give you the option of playing first team players who need game time, you'd be able to do this because league rules say you are able to play 3 over age players in the team. Paul Tuppenny has got the reserves playing some very entertaining football just lately, he has shown that he wants the young lads to progress and develop into good players it would be a shame to loose that potential Yao other clubs locally which has been the norm up till the start of this season and looks like it will resort back to next, in my opinion Tupps would be a great coach to take the 21's forward.
I think that Dave will give Sean the backing he needs to get us out of the Ryman south I would like to think that a striker with a good goal scoring reputation can be found and the FA cup money would put us in a good position to have an edge over getting the better quality players in. One player I've noticed at Hythe is Hussien who is one of the best wide players I've seen at this level and would make a fantastic addition if he could be tempted away, he's very quick and scores goals. It will be an interesting couple of months ahead.
Heard he was at Eastbourne town with Jack Dixon and scored goals there too as you rightly say a few supporters were just bit surprised he wasn't used when the goals dried up an experienced forward who has scored goals whoever he has played for and managed in the right way, might of made a difference?.Irrelavant now as we prepare for ryman south football onwards and upwards.
Macca is most definitely still with us observer and I was talking to him last night prior to the reserves game, he seemed rather fed up when he asked me about next seasons plans and I told him that the reserves was being withdrawn. I believe he could play Ryman South football and should be given a chance. He's a decent lad ( I use the term lad loosely but he will forgive give me) who always gives 100%.
