Worthing & Brighton are already in the semi finals and Bognor or Bexhill could be joining them tonight. But what has happened to the 2nd round match between Midhurst & Easebourne & Eastbourne United Association which doesn't seem to have been played yet, as they are our 3rd round opponents away from home, and the winner of that game is home to Horsham in the quarter finals. All of the other 2nd round games were played last November, so I don't understand why this game hasn't been played yet? On the Sussex FA website it says that the tie was due to be played on 31st January, but was postponed! Surely if they can't fulfil that fixture then we should be given a walkover?
Yes, this is weird. Other ties in the current competition have been awarded as walkovers, so why is this one any different? I went to their website and it talked about hoping to have played the game on the 31st of Jan, as you’ve suggested. There was a subtext there that something out of the ordinary had happened but I couldn’t find out what. Would love to know what’s going on.
Looks like Midhurst & Easebourne vs Eastbourne United Assoc is finally down to be played on Tuesday 21st March (tomorrow night) with us away to one of them on Tuesday 28th March!
After all the waiting we were put through I can't believe that the Horsham game next Tuesday 4th has taken precedence over our home rearranged game with Billericay, and if we win we will have to fit in a home game with Worthing in the Semi Finals.
Can't play the following week as we are playing Horsham again in the league on Easter Monday.
The only other spare Tuesday is the 18th as the season finishes on the 22nd.
Fingers Crossed that Herne Bay isn't postponed as we may be playing 3 games a week!
Another demonstration last night of our top quality fan base who are bringing in youngsters to support our team in the correct way.
Few things for Worthing to iron out but I'm sure their older fans will do that. Most of them were top people too.
Proud of the team this season. What a job Gary and Meeney have done under some ongoing challenging circumstances. The best summer work will be to keep them.
Hastings have done well to finish eighth this season despite the disappointing result and performance against a second string Worthing side. Great to see the development of Freddie, Kane and the emergence of Finlay. Hope Tom is back to full fitness for next season and Gary and John continue to push Hastings forward.
