Our away game at Hornchurch seems a long time ago now. First half was a bit of a nightmare for Hastings with Finn's unlucky early sending off and the follow up penalty. Hornchurch added 2 more and dominated the game before half time. So impressed with the way Hastings reorganized at half time and played really well in the second half against a good side. Hope the luck goes our way on Saturday. Just an observation on the Horsham match, even though he could have scored a couple of goals, thought Ben Pope had a great game-even accelerating away from their defenders a couple of times!
Very sorry to see Tom won't be available for a week or two as he's a key player when it comes to breaking down well organised sides with a bit of individual brilliance. Think we may need to get the breaks tomorrow in order to collect the three points....a dubious penalty/red card in our favour in the first few minutes should do it !
Think if we played Hornchurch every day next week we would still lose 3-0 every time! The ball just wouldn't go in their net and their 'keeper had a blinder. And we weren' t quite at our best at the back with Hornchurch being so clinical with their finishing. Despite the score thought Hastings played very well at times and it was a good quality match.
Congratulations to our supporter Robert who won £160 on the 50/50 with ticket 3941.
As for the game Hornchurch took their chances whilst we had no luck at all. However no complaints , they are the top of the league and you can see why.Won’t play any better sides this season and we are not woo far behind.
I think this was just one of those days when the team at the top gets all the luck that's going.
Ok we didn't start too well and no surprise when we went behind. However their second came just after a 15 minute spell of pressure where we hit the post and were the only team who looked like scoring. 1-1 would have been a fairer half time score.
To lose the second half 1-0 however was ridiculous. I reckon we must have had 15 goal attempts to their two with a similar corner count. But there you go.
Good luck to Hornchurch. I think they will need to strengthen if they do go up.
Thought Jack was MotM today.
This game was about clinch finishing this level and league comes down to the strikers you have hastings are not really blessed with 25 to 30 goals a season 22 shots on goal vs Honchurch to there 7 shots on goal the difference is Honchurch have two 25 goals a season striker i think if hastings united are to even make play off a striker is need ASAP hastings have the best defensive in the league Ben Pope is a warrior needs a strike partner that will help him.

We need a strker who can complement Ben Pope - someone more like the old style classic inside forward who picks up on knock downs and flick ons created by the target man and who can capitalise when the ball is loose in the box.
