Followed progress on Twitter from LosAngeles this morning
Is Hastings United Radio defunct?
Also, it seems that attendance hasn’t been declared?
Really good to consolidate our position

Attendance was 690 I think-a bit disappointing. Good to see Finn again! Tom was excellent but all the team played well. Can't see CC winning many matches

Even with three big players missing that was as comfortable a win as we have had all season against the poorest team we have played. Tom was clear MOTM for me and Knory cracker....though I did feel Knory lost the ball a bit too often on his mazy runs.
The only real disappointment for me was the attendance which continues to drop and I don't really understand why. The crowd was 250 down on the last league match which produced a rousing victory.
And it hasn't even turned cold yet !

Mick, you don't understand why the attendance is dropping? How many reasons do you need?

Here are a few to start with:

Live football at any level costs money, with the cost of living rising heavily since we came out of lockdown, some people cannot afford or justify going.

World Cup and FA Cup live on terrestrial TV, will always put a dent in attendances.

The bandwagon has left town. We are not top of the table, glory hunters only come out of the woodwork when we are.

It's getting colder and lots of rain lately, a lot easier to get people to go when the sun is shining.

Spot on Vernon but pleased to say sales of programmes and 50/50 tickets holding up well. Speaking of programmes did anybody read that somebody is trying to resurrect Hastings Town. There was a piece about it in Simon Stoddarts Gut feeling. Anybody know anything about it ?

I know nothing about the new Hastings Town, other than I followed them on twitter last month and the did not bother following back.

Are they getting ready to move into the Pilot Field if we go to Eastbourne Borough and leave it vacant?

Vernon,
I get what you are saying about attendances but let me explain my point.
The percentage drop in attendance between the Haringey game and the Corinthian game was quite remarkable.
You really can't put that down to the weather: it was cool but dry both days.....and the cost of living crisis has been with us for months so unlikely to be responsible for such a large drop in a two week period.
OK, the World Cup may be responsible for some staying at home....but you'd have to be a pretty half hearted fan to prefer to watch two teams from the other side of the world in a group match. It's not as if there isn't wall-to-wall football on the box at the moment ! Will these people bother to come back when the World Cup is over ?
So I have to agree with your fourth point. There really were an awful lot of glory hunters who jumped on last year's league winning success and we may not see them again for a while.
Despite the points you raise, I honestly thought that we might have had a pretty solid 'core support' of between 1000 and 1200 this season. I now believe that I need to revise this figure down by about 400.

Phil that hastings town thing went quiet fairly quickly after they set up a fb page, not heard a sausage since and ive spoken with the esfl about it and there was talk of them starting in the new season..then it went quiet (Was interested becuase i do that local football coverage #SBTSHastingsReport).

who knows about where they would play id never much doubt they would be at the pilot field as at best they would be in the esfl, but the club kept there eastbourne deal under wraps for four months so WHO KNOWS

As for the attendances dropping, ive always moaned about the criminal lack of promotion that the club do for match days outside of tweets and fb ...nothing in local radio/tv ...no physical advertising anywhere in the town, defo a few of the glory fans have gone but we've atually done quite well this season, could be the cash squeeze.

Some decent crowds for other teams in our League-Lewes, Billericay and Chatham and Ramsgate in the league below. We seem to have a higher number of "fair weather" followers (not supporters) who enjoy a good moan when they turn up

I was one of the missing ones yesterday and unfortunately I will be out for a few more - I'm in the Conquest on Tuesday for my hip relacement operation and, although the risk is relatively small these days, it was the prospect of testing positively for Covid and consesquently being turned away in the assessment lounge on Tuesday which kept me away.
I'm hoping I'll be able to hobble along on Boxing Day!

Mick I noticed last season when we had a large influx of fans, that many were wearing the 2012/13 replica shirt. Which they obviously bought during the 2012/13 FA Cup run. As the Shirt sponsor Greens Insurance, done a deal so you could buy them cheap, I am guessing Harrogate at home and Middlesbrough away, were the last time they had bothered to support the team.

The more healthy attendances in the Premier Division and below are usually linked with local derbies. The Billericay Canvey fixture is a case in point (14 miles) and Ramsgate to Ashford ( 27 miles)
There are few local derbies that benefit us. Corinthian Casuals have poor support
The cost of living crisis and admission is an issue and it is not easy for many
Costs can be pared right down by knocking out the secondary spend if absolutely necessary.Remember flasks of tea and sandwiches from home. After all the football is the most important bit. I& necessary give the food outlet and bar a swerve

And Ramsgate v Ashford was a top of the table clash. Chatham have,,surprisingly, won all 8 of their home matches which helps attendances! Didn't realize Billericay-Caney was a local derby.

Good luck Geoff with your operation.  You're very wise to be aware that covid hasn't gone away. I've heard of 3 cases within my family and friends circle in this last couple of weeks ,plus a death from it . Its definitely still around . Good luck mate hope it goes well .
