Well whoever conjured up this season's fixtures certainly made sure we weren't going to get an easy ride in to this season as we now take on the league leaders. OK, last week was a big disappointment and clearly our rather below strength team did not perform well. However I don't believe for one minute that we are going to struggle in the league this season. We have performed admirably in two tough away games at Folkestone and Lewes and were someone unlucky to lose to high flying Aveley. The defeat to a strong Hornchurch side was the only major set back in the league this year on a day when just about everything that could go wrong, including the M25, did ! Brightlingsea on the other hand were despatched with aplomb !

So no reason for doom and gloom here. Let's hope for another crowd approaching 1200 tomorrow and see if we can put one over on one of the early pace setters. Clearly this won't be easy and, as things stand, I would take a point.

So looking forward to another tough battle with not too many chances. I hope there will be plenty of 'Brightlingsea games' to come....but I don't think this will be one of them.

I apologise....it looks possible, even likely, that just about all sport will be cancelled during a period of mourning covering the next two weekends.

Not sure if this will apply to our level of football yet. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

I'm pretty sure all sports at all levels will be cancelled untill after the funeral. An announcement will be made in Parliament at some stage tomorrow.
