Hopefully this won't affect us this season but I just wondered if anyone knew how the play offs were going to be worked out this season at our level?
There are 8 Leagues at our level (step 4) and 4 Premier Leagues at step 3.
There are the 8 League winners that get promoted automatically plus the 8 play off winners totalling 16 promoted, but when you look at the leagues on football web pages only the bottom 2 at step 3 are definately relegated which means only 8 teams are relegated.
It indicates that the 4 teams finishing 3rd from bottom at step 3 seem to be involved in some sort of play off, so does that mean even if you win the play offs in our league you are not guaranteed promotion?
There seems to be more teams being promoted than being relegated.

Thanks Roger!
Very Complicated but I think I understand it all now.
There are 26 teams being promoted from Step 5 (county league) to step 4 with a possibility of another 6 if they beat the 3rd from bottom teams at step 4 in a play off, so we could have another 32 county league teams playing across the step 4 leagues!

Thank god we're getting out of this league

Blimey, a William Parker education did not do much for me, hardly understand any of it.

I see that Herne Bay became the latest play-off candidate to waste a game in hand last night. Almost makes you wonder if any of the other five teams really want to be promoted, such has been their inconsistency over the last few months, while we have just churned out win after win from as far back as mid-November.

Assuming my maths is accurate, we have averaged 2.62 points per game since the turn of the year. The next best is Ramsgate at 1.85 and then Ashford at 1.71, Haywards Heath at 1.62, Cray Valley at 1.54 and Herne Bay at 1.50.

Corinthian have managed 1.77 over the same period, Burgess Hill 1.69 and Three Bridges 1.54. East Grinstead aren't too far behind either at 1.43. It's been a funny old year.

Had exactly the same thoughts, Sean, as we watch our promotion rivals continue to falter on a regular basis.

I would like to think our position as Champions is pretty well assured now but the battle for the play off places most definitely stutters on.

The FootballWebPages predictor is always interesting (though never more than wild speculation) and currently has Ramsgate, Cray and Herne Bay all equal on points with Herne Bay just missing out on the play-offs to Cray on goals scored, not even on goal difference !

Delighted that we will not be involved in such intricate mathematical drama.....and this is just to determine who REACHES the nerve shredding play-offs.

Well according to that prediction, we are going to draw two of our last three away games? Don't think so.

It would certainly be good to win our next two games against Haywards Heath and VCD. Then we can say we have beaten EVERYONE in our league at least once this season.
I guess that's quite a rare achievement.

Another reason to beat Haywards Heath is that they are the only team we have not scored against.
