I am researching for a book which features an ex Tottenham player who played for Hasting F.C.  during the early sixties. Has anyone information that can verify his appearances etc. Any facts no matter how small would be appreciated. Any information would be acknowledged in the book. Thanks for your time John

To assist with the search please advise if this is Hastings United or Hastings and St Leonard’s

I have looked through over 100 Hastings United progs between 1959-1970, and have not seen him on any line up. I have also checked Hastings Rangers progs from the 1960s. I only have a few Hastings & St. Leonards programmes from the 1960s and no mention. I do not have every programme for the above, so not conclusive, but not a name I recognise.

Good luck with your research and book...

I saw all United games from 1962 and he did not represent that club

Agree with Vernon and Roger, not a name I recognise. The only ex-Spurs players I recall from that period are Tommy Harmer and Len Duquemin.

A big thanks for the information. I can now narrow the time down to (if he did play) to 1962/63. As he left Watford in season 61/62. He emigrated  to Sydney and was playing for club there in 1964. I was also led to believe that Bobby Smith, who also played for Tottenham, played for Hastings in 1965/67. As they played together at Spurs did this confuse some researches in thinking that Alfie played there as well. Just a thought. Thanks once again. John

Another possibility is that Tommy Harmer briefly played for United around 1967
