Not the greatest game on a cold day, thought first half pretty forgettable and that we actually played better when down to 10. Sam Adams man of the match when a few seemed to have an off day. Sending off a little harsh, have seen worse go unpunished. But it’s grinding out results like this that make you champions.
Not there today but we seem to be getting good at grinding out results when we're not really at our best, particularly away from home. As long as we keep winning !
I see Sittingbourne had their best attendance of the season today while Ashford managed a little over 300.
Anyone know why Herne Bay v Haywards Heath was abandoned ?
Disappointing for Lloyd Dawes again today. He was struggling from mid-way in the first half and came off at half time. Potentially such a good player for us but it seems unlikely he will feature much for us this season.
Certainly a difficult game for Hastings. We struggled to create anything from open play and needed Craig, Finn and the rest of our defence to hold on for a draw. Strangely, we looked better when down to 10. Survived a couple of dodgy moments from Ollie at the back and all our subs, Kenny, James and Sam Hasler did well. To go on to win, perhaps benefitting from their injured 'keeper was a real bonus.
Sittingbourne played well and look close to being promotion contenders in future seasons. Perhaps lack a good striker losing their last 3 home games. Would be delighted to see them go on a winning run now!
Shame about Andrew Sesay. Just before he was sent off he had a decent run down the left and then blasted a shot into the crowd. Kenny was in a good position in the middle and expressed some disappointment at not receiving a cross- didn't think Andrew reacted well to that and soon after picked up another yellow to add to his bad day. Thinking the worst, he'll be in the Phoenix side on Saturday!
