Lots of talk already about the huge game against Ashford coming up next week, but let's not underestimate the challenge that Burgess Hill are likely to present.
They are currently just behind us in the form table and have taken points off Cray, Haywards Heath and Ashford in recent weeks, all teams who have beaten us.
Let's hope for decent weather and a huge, noisy crowd to see us over the line on Saturday.
Game at Burgess Hill wasn't a great performance. Went 3-0 up without playing that well but the last 10 minutes were chaotic with Burgess Hill looking like scoring with every attack Relieved to hear the whistle!
I think the way we are is unstoppable now...we've got to the point again where sides are bricking it coming here, and that where we play our part...LETS MAKE SOME NOISE TODAY LADS/LASSES, me personally i think sesay and knory are going to tear them up today 👌
First of all congratulations to Mr.Wilson who won the 50/50 with ticket 1477 , he won £206.50. As for the game it wouldn’t be Hastings without the occasional drawback, although Burgess Hill not a bad side. We had our chances but not to be. In some ways it was a case of 2 keepers, Louis did not have his best game whereas their keeper made 4 or 5 excellent saves. Talking of keepers nice to see Josh Pelling at the Pilot Field. Onto Ashford next week.
Disappointing result but surely did enough to get at least a point. Ironic to concede a goal from a long throw and their first two came from defensive mistakes. Worrying to see Finn and Lloyd limping around. Hope Finn's injury is not serious.
Leaving aside the result I thought that was an entertaining game between two very decent sides. It was a shame that our usually sound defence had an off day and all three goals could have been avoided. How ironic that new signing Finn, faultless up to now, should make the initial mistake to present the visitors with their first ? And why did TC, equally imperious this season, needlessly give away a free kick that gifted their second ? The fact that we could easily have scored three or four between these goals seems immaterial now.
Over all Burgess Hill had long spells of possession through the match but I always felt we were the more potent attacking force......however, through a mixture of bad luck and a sequence of excellent saves by their young keeper, this was not destined to be our day !
I think we have shaded a few games lately (at Whitehawk and Whitstable, for example) and today was the day that Lady Luck did not smile upon us.
But there's still a long way to go....and while absolutely nothing will be decided at Ashford, the game has become slightly bigger today.
What a game! I don't think any of us expected the result to go that way but credit to Burgess Hill who looked up for it from the beginning and looked very dangerous. How we didn't achieve a point or three by the end of the game was beyond me, but their keeper was phenomenal and had an outstanding game producing some key saves that I think played a big part. Unusual to see both goals for us scored by defenders however had we not committed the foul leading to the free kick and conceding just before the break then I think we would have been entertained for an interesting second half.
With Finn not playing the second half, I don't think that helped us. Rather surprised to also see that it looked as though Dave Martin was playing on the right wing when he came on which I was slightly surprised to see in all honesty. BH defiantly looked fitter and more energetic as we looked a bit fatigue today especially when it came to pressing or getting to the ball first.
As Tim says, hope Finn is ok - especially for next Saturday as we need him as often as possible. I would imagine that Gary and the boys were more focused on next Saturday's game than yesterday's. Hopefully we'll have taken a few things from today and be able to put them to use next Saturday.
"Hopefully we'll have taken a few things from today and be able to put them to use next Saturday"
Like, putting the ball in the net, you're right, but they were beatable, had it not been for some silly mistakes, to win this league we must concentrate more.
Three giveaways looking at the clips the free kick leading to the second goal was harsh ironic we concede from a long throw but good to see OB weigh in with two goals, Jeez the Keeper was superb where did them hands come from in first half excellent goalkeeping bring on Ashford that’s get out 7 point lead back COYUS
It would be interesting to see how many goal attempts we had yesterday. Probably more than in any other game this season but their keeper, some near misses and a series of goalmouth scrambles and desperate defensive blocks denied us all three points.
I would like to think every occasional supporter was thoroughly entertained (though seriously disappointed, like me) and will be back for the next game.
It does seem our biggest crowds always miss the best wins !
