OK....quite a lot of wishful thinking in that heading and I hope I'm not tempting fate by suggesting we will record a big win to boost our goal difference.
I certainly hope it wasn't an omen that my 'other team', Wolves (6th),drew a complete blank at home against Burnley (next to bottom) on Wednesday when we (6th) entertain East Grinstead (next to bottom) tomorrow. We all know such things can easily happen in football.....but twice in a week ? Surely not ?
All being well though this should be an occasion to make up a bit more ground on at least one team above us as Herne Bay have a difficult trip to Cray Valley. Ramsgate, Ashford and Haywards Heath all face away games so fingers crossed they too drop some points on their travels.
Certainly looking forward to seeing our flying wingers again tomorrow !
Definitely want to see Ben leading the line today and getting a goal or two to really get some confidence back. I feel he has been frustrated by lack of service from the wings up to now.....but with a bit of luck that's about to change.
Let's also get Jack pushed well forward in support of the forwards....no-one better at delivering the killer pass. And l hope Sam H finds his touch again. I felt he was our outstanding player in the first two months and his slight dip in form seems to have been reflected in the team's performance.
Can we get 1000+ through the gate again ?
Sam H possibly injured as well. East Grinstead may not be in the best of form but they have been good at getting some unexpected results against us in recent seasons.
Good performance and another enjoyable game. Lloyd Dawes does make a difference! Difficult to single out any one player as it was very much the case of the whole team playing well. Could do with Finn being around all season- or longer!
Top of the table match at Cray VM draws 157 spectators. Must have some good sponsors. 800 our crowd today although it didn't seem that many. Great results for Hastings today. Would be good to get a win against a top side next week.
First of all congrats to Steve Thorpe on winning £136 on the 50/50 with ticket 203. As for game comfortable win, keep it up over next few games and we will be promotion contenders.
First home game I've been to Felixstowe and Walton and thought we made the game look comfortable other than the occasional attack East Grinstead had. I really liked the way we played even though I did feel worried at times when we went backwards. Great support and think once the team have got used to Gary's playing style we will be back to our best. Now hopeful of a good run going and keeping the momentum up.
So the three 'impact' players, I picked out ( Ben, Jack, Sam H) were on the pitch for just 45 minutes. Just shows what I know !
What it does indicate though is a very good team performance with five goals from five different players, all from open play, if my memory serves me correctly. Great to see Finn and Lloyd get their first goals for the club, both well deserved.
E.G. certainly weren't bad in possession and had the ball in our half for decent spells but never caused Louis too many problems. On the other hand we looked dangerous with just about every attack and so good to see we didn't just 'sit back' once we got our third with half an hour left. I bet those missing 200 wish they had made the effort today.
So pleased my suggestion that 'this was a question of how many' wasn't so outrageous after all ! I wouldn't have heard the end of it had it all gone wrong !
