Proper day out, besides if we wish to get into National South these distances will become regular.

Just like the old days Phil, that's why we need to get out of this division, sure it will happen this season. Far more enjoy proper away days, than playing these local jumped up County league teams. If we beat Dunstable on Saturday, we could certainly be on for possibly another big away day. Remember Wroxham a few years back 360 mile round trip. The original Hastings United played Barrow away in 1980, my Dad would not let me go on the supporters coach as I was too young to go on my own. I know Dave Ormerod went, he possibly organised the supporters coach.

Dave has contacted me to correct me. Apparently they went on the train, no coach organised. I still remember I was not allowed to go!

There was an article in the non-league paper about Tunbridge Wells' FA cup run back in 1961. Our former player, Alan Back, was in the Tunbridge Wells side and he was at the Culverden Road ground on Saturday- one of only 4 players still surviving. He was a great U's player.

Was really pleased to spend a morning with Terry and his wife about 7 years ago going through his scrapbooks
Can remember his class in the 1962 side
He had got hold of my books and was sharing his plan to write his own
Dai Davies ex Tunbridge Wells started that season as well
