Missed Folkestone goal although informed it was a defensive error. Thought what I did see was pretty ’even steven’. Shows we can compete against teams from a higher league.

i think what was most pleasing was the return of a lot of our supporters,young and old, after 5 months. Nice to see them all again.

"Defensive error" is something of an understatement: we basically presented them with an open goal! Good to get those things out of the way in pre-season, I guess...if that's how it works. As you say, we competed well against a good side otherwise: good chances missed or denied at both ends, particularly in the first half.

We obviously - and understandably - missed the spark that Daniel could give us when we had them under sustained pressure during the second half without making the breakthrough. I suspect we'd have worn a weaker opponent down over that period, but it felt a little one-dimensional at times and we were more direct than we've been at our best. Impossible to judge properly from a friendly, of course.

Lovely to be back, anyway.
