After the big win against Sittingbourne it is now away to Phoenix_Sports_F.C._logo.png

Phoenix are currently the number 10 in the table with 25 points out of 18 games.

They scored 37 and conceded 35 goals. Top scorer: Duah-Kessie with 12 goals

Remember our home game against them: https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/match/2018-2019/isthmian-football-league-south-east-division/hastings-united/phoenix-sports/113284

Phoenix plays at: The Mayplace Ground,Maylace Road East,Bexleyheath,Greater London 1476138927_0869.jpg

And we? Surely we expect something after a great 45 minutes last Saturday. Daniel is back again and scored against Sittingbourne. Phoenix last win is against Sevenoaks back in November and from their last 6 games they lost 4 and drew 2. Their last home win was against greenwich back in September.

So safe journey and COYU'ssssssssssssssssss!

Mayplace Ground, DA7 6JT

Admission: Adults £9, Conc £5 u16s Free with paying adult.

2nd placed Hastings United come to the Mayplace Ground on great form having won their last 4 games straight. Phoenix are sliding down the table after failing to convert recent draws into wins.

First Team Manager Paul Bryon looked back over the last few weeks then ahead to this game,

“It will be good to get back to playing every week from now on we have had two games in four weeks and lost a bit of rhythm,”

“It definitely showed in the second half against VCD, we looked a little tired mentally and physically, however we have worked hard since then and put that right ready for Saturday.

“We are in the middle of a very tough run of games VCD, Hastings, Horsham and Whyteleafe, it’s a tough run for us.

“Our previous meeting with Hastings (a 3-0 defeat on 1 September 2018) is the only game this season we have not really competed and made a game of it. We were never really in it at their place, we had four missing that day but no excuses we were poor.

“All other games this season we have contributed and results could have gone either way.

“We know we will have to be at our very best to get something out of the game.

“It’s difficult because when you think Phoenix are hosting Hastings on Saturday some would have said a few years ago this would never happen to a club like Phoenix but we are now at the stage where not only have we been at this level almost four seasons so we expect to get something out of this game.

“This is a massive testament to the committee and previous management of the club that we are established at this level now.

“It’s very hard at the beginning of the season for a club like ours to set targets and expectations as there is so much toing and froing of players in the league,” said Bryon.

“You don’t know how they will settle at the new clubs and apart from the normal few you don’t know how strong teams will actually be on the pitch.

“Our target is to keep our season alive as long as possible and hopefully still have something to play for in the last game of the season.

“We are half way through and have played everyone now and we should have more points on the board from positions we have been in, in games but seeing games out is part of the learning process.

“It was a Massive disappointment losing to VCD on the 30th December, we had three very good chances first half and had one gone in I think it would have been a different result, however seeing 453 people watch the game was a bonus for the club if not for myself and the players.

“We have a good group here and the majority have been here for three seasons or more, which shows a good loyalty as everyone knows we are nowhere near the highest payers. We keep working hard and hopefully the second half the season will see us turn our draws into wins.”

Think last time we went we parked in a school playground opposite the ground. No idea about pubs but think it is only about 10-15 minute walk into Crayford where you should find something suitable.

Did well in the second half to come back from 0-2 down to 3-2 up! Gave away a penalty in injury time! Gutted.

First ten minutes we were as poor as I’ve seen all season. Rest of the game we competed but still went in 2-0 down at half-time to a team that looked like they’d be more at home with a scythe rather than a football. Second half we dominated and when we got to 2-3 I thought job done. To draw 3-3 to an extra time penalty shows that this talented squad still has a lot to learn about game management. Chris did well to change the system at half time and the lads responded well. Not going to criticise individuals as I don’t see that it does anything positive but Crutts was MoM by a distance.

Have to agree Steve ,first 10-15 minutes we were very poor ,could have been 3 or 4 down . Not sure what Charlie was doing with their second goal, rush goalies ? Troubled their keeper very little in first half. However Chris rang the changes at half time and we totally dominated. Three good goals and a definite penalty turned down. Unfortunately Phoenix were given a penalty at the end and we finished all square. Probably a fair result.
