I suppose we will lose the 3 points and 5 goals scored against them, which will put us 13 points behind Cray who haven't played them yet!

Just like 92-93 when Hastings Town were struggling to adapt to Beazer Homes League Premier Division football. We beat Dartford 1-0 on the August Bank Holiday I think it was - late late goal - and within a couple of weeks lost the points when they folded.

If Thamesmead have gone the same way then Cray will not believe their good fortune. Commiserations to Thamesmead.

Sorry Simon disagree it makes no difference to the situation, both teams would have probably got 6 points off them. We had the benefit of an extra 3k in the bank.

There always feels that there are too many clubs in London that struggle to get 100 supporters in. I'm not surprised but it is unfortunate when this happens, when something just ceases to exist because there will be people that the club means a lot too. I doubt very much that Cray will feel that they cant believe their good fortune. I think any club that goes out of business will have the sympathy of any other club.

No Chris. We lose 3 points and Cray are unaffected assuming they hadn't played Thamesmead which has already been said elsewhere. Knowing our luck, all the clubs around us won't have played them either. There appears to be some optimism at Bostik HQ that a deal might keep em going but I can't see it.

Cliff - when I made the good fortune observation it was purely in terms of the points situation. Plenty of sympathy out there at Cray for Thamesmead I'm sure. They are the form team at the moment and their results show that - all credit to manager and players - but their attendances aren't a great deal higher than Thamesmead's. I don't know how some clubs keep going - Molesey had 14 spectators for their recent game with Cheshunt.

Simon we all play 36 games if they don’t survive it’s not a disadvantage, and we got gate money most didn’t.

I look at this purely as a points issue and if Thamesmead blow out and Cray havent played them - we will lose 3 points and a big gap - albeit with games in hand - will be even bigger.

It makes very little difference , we lose the 3 points but gain (another) game in hand .

As was pointed out we also gained from the gate receipts those who haven’t already played them at home wont get.

I would rather have 3 points in the bag than gain another game in hand!
Also there was no guarantee that the teams around us (including Cray) would have beaten them and taken 3 points off of them and scored 5 goals in the process, as you never know in football.
Put it this way I would rather not see them going into administration as we will be losing out and getting further behind.

I`m 100% with you on this Adrian, I would much rather have 3 points than another game in hand, regarding the money Chris, what good did it do before, how much did we get for that FA cup run in 12/13? how did it help, we got relegated, ok the next year lost in play=offs, then were lucky to stay out of couny league, so money is not eveything, we need points to get out of this league.

My point throughout has been that we lose 3 points if Thamesmead fold - as do Phoenix as it happens. Another game in hand? Give me points anytime. Two or three seasons ago we had 5, 6 or 7 games in hand on clubs above us and that produced nothing. South Park when they had a decent side couple of years back - 10 games behind after a good Trophy run. Got em nowhere.

So you would suggest we don’t enter the FA cup, it’s part of non league football, fixture backlogs have always happened. I would be more concerned about our performance on match days than being a few games behind.

I never said we shouldnt enter the FA Cup. What I have always said is that its a distraction from what really matters. Albeit a lucrative one. And of course the money helps. I do accept that. Good F A Cup runs in 02-03 and 12-13 coincided with relegation seasons. Relegation is not the concern now obviously - the impact is still there on our league campaign, though. With the real possibility on the horizon of losing the Thamesmead points and a +4 goal difference.
