Well Bert, in other days we might have expected to see on the team sheet a core of established players and several from the Development Squad. As it is, it will be interesting to see who turns up!

Personally, its not a game I really want to see any senior players. We all remember what happened to Sam Cole around this time last year in the league cup at Faversham. I would be more than happy to see the development squad go out there and prove what they are made of. Absolutely no pressure on them, no pressure for league points, freedom to have a real go and not worry about mistakes and honestly, is anyone really bothered if we are knocked out? These are the games to throw a load of youngsters in and see what they can do.

I agree John that we might usefully play the youngsters. But I disagree about the game not mattering. Unlike the League Cup, I think the County Cup does retain some element of credibility - even if that is just nostalgia on my part. And to what else do we have to look forward?
When we were a decent non-league side involved in lots of competitions and travelling long distances to away matches we always took this competition seriously. Many supporters like myself attended 2 or 3 Sussex Cup Finals and saw some excellent games. We should be going all out to win this competition- what else have we to play for? Put out our strongest side.
Pretty ordinary performance again tonight against a game but very poor county one side. Was only ever going to be one winner despite going a goal down early and I am not sure Chris learnt anything new about anyone tonight. No one really stood out but thought Ollie Rowe looked decent at right back and Ansu and Crutts had decent games in midfield, but didn't really feel anyone else really grabbed their chance and really forced Chris into picking them Saturday. Again, played Kenny on his own down the middle and at times he was just so isolated. Not sure if Rodari and Crutts were supposed to be pushing on to make a 4-3-3 but in the 2nd half Rodari at times was almost playing left back.
But a wins a win and hopefully given the lads a bit of confidence going into Saturday's massive game at Shoreham where 3 points is the absolute minimum.
A 3-1 win (in normal time -thank goodness). I thought we were pretty dire and very sluggish for the first half an hour despite Tom Vickers' best efforts. We gradually improved and the second half had some moments of attractive passing football played with more pace. I thought the penalty we were awarded for our second goal was generous - Rodari looked outside the area when he was fouled; but there were no protests from Hassocks. I thought Rodari grew in confidence as the game went on. He really has considerable potential.
Of course, the opposition were County League; but they were well organised. So the team are entitled to take the positives from tonight's performance.
I hear the crowd was under a 100 tonight. Cannot remember a double figure crowd in any competion for years at the Pilot Field and there were quite a few young kids tonight as well. Hope this is not a sign of things to come. We need as much support as possible through these tough times.
