So rumours circulating since Wednesday morning that Adam has taken up the role at his old club Worthing. Didn't take training either last night. Anyone like to put the rumours to bed and confirm he is still part of this fantastic 3 year journey we are all supposedly on?
Managerial search continues with Lock on standby to continue in temporary charge
Caretaker Manager John Lock could take charge of Saturday’s trip to Wingate & Finchley if the club doesn’t have a new manager in place in time.
Lock has overseen the last three games since Gary Elphick’s resignation, helping the club to a first league point of the season thanks to the 2-2 draw with Staines Town at the weekend, before exiting the Velocity Trophy in disappointing fashion at Shoreham last night.
The club initially hoped to have a permanent replacement in place for Saturday’s match but have remained firm that they won’t be rushed into an appointment.
Managing Director, Calvin Buckland said: “We’re holding secondary talks with our two preferred candidates today and do hope to make an announcement shortly, however it’s got to be right for both parties, the club and the individual coming in”. “Something could still happen in time for Saturday but luckily we’re in a position where John’s happy to continue should we need him too – we’re thankful to him for that”.

Is that a a surprise or not... nothing official yet but what could be the consequences? More or less academy players in the first team...........more senior players unhappy................ no promotion............... less supporters watching the games........maybe more..............
And there was me thinking you had no forum because you have no fans
What did someone post last week?? "what is going on down at Hythe, they appear to be in a right mess"......who's laughing now
Plenty of opinions and "fans" in the town John. It's getting them in the ground that's the problem. We must remember though that our population of 17000 or so is dwarfed by our neighbours at Folkestone and Hastings. We also take note of the often very angry postings on both forums. with the long-serving and loyal Neil Cugley regularly getting torn to pieces by his own supporters. Far too civilised for that sort of thing in Hythe !!!!!

Made exactly the same point earlier in week. For some reason directors, owners, management and alike have always frowned on this completely independent supporters forum, which of course they don't have to look at, but you know what, it really is pretty tame compared to most others. In fact, the last year or so it has toned right down and we do have proper, grown up conversations which never appear to get personal or nasty, whereas some of the others are fierce. You are right in that Cugley gets a huge amount of stick and Folkestone are sitting 9th in the premier. Wealdstone have just in the last fortnight pretty much driven their manager out of a job and Worthing themselves were rightly very critical of the manager who has just left.
I don't think fan pressure has ever forced a manager out of a job at Hastings and I certainly don't remember anyone asking for John Maggs to get the boot when we sat second in the league nor Nigel Kane when we were nearly relegated to county league. I think we are a pretty decent lot on here but then I would say that.
Whatever next?? The rumour that Billy Medlock, our best player by a country mile, has left as well. Of course just crazy rumours and people stirring the s**t. Probably that lot down at Hythe

If Billy has left then there are a lot of questions who need to be answered.
What has happened in a few months/weeks...............

Yeah, I saw that Bert, bringing out the locality card again. How come Dover, Folkestone, Eastbourne and even Herne Bay don't have the same problems. Understand that the Folkestone budget is even lower than ours as well. Just doesn't wash anymore.
Also, once again we have the comment that we would all prefer young players with an affinity to the club. No we wouldn't unless they are of a good enough standard to take us forward. I cannot imagine another season as we had two years ago when we skirted with the county league. I keep hearing from people that number one aim is still promotion this year and then in the next breath we are asked for patience and that this is a 3 year project that will take time. Stop giving fans false hopes, we would have more respect if we were told this year was all about stability and a mid table position and then the big push next year. All the youngsters have potential but compare those coming through to Harry Stannard and Nassim Dukali, the Herne Bay no 11. There is just no comparison. My young lad comes to Hastings to watch players like Billy Medlock and Matt Bodkin, players that excite and are unpredictable, not 18 year olds who work hard and run around a lot. Second half on Tuesday the seniors were disappointing, fact, Billy apart, but there was also a youth player who didn't put the effort in, will he be dropped on Saturday I wonder?
Anyway, no announcement anywhere so as it stands, Adam and Bill are still with us and its just been an entertaining morning on the forum, when everyone should be working.
John - as ever great post!! However, do you think that all these young players all at once is not working? I love to see young players ( home grown) come through but I think too many too soon.
Being a manager for more then 30 years imo if the team is playing well, winning a lot you can add 2 or 3 young players. Give them a lot of time in Cup games and they will become stronger.
Absolutely right Bert. At the same time absolutely no one is blaming the youngsters and individually they have all done okay considering, its just there is too many of them doing okay. Admittedly though, some of this has been forced on the team and rather than five in the starting line up there would only probably be two if Johnno, Tom and Beales were all fit and possibly one if Adam had made better signings as clearly he does not appear to fancy Carey or Gayler anymore. For me that has been the biggest disappointment of his short reign if that is what it is to be. Really thought Adam would have some top contacts in the game and access to some very good players but it really hasn't happened.

not a rumour anymore john, he has gone. i have a mate who knows billy and he can't wait to leave us, treated him like crap he said. left us for a club who are getting stronger and stronger. they have also got teenagers in their squad but have brought them in gradually. we have one or two diamonds but most are average and no where near ryman level

So Dougie if this is true then FGS what is going on?? Same story when Harris left us.
Dont know who runs this club but it is going downhill very, very fast
I was aware Dougie. Couldn't give a toss about Adam personally but Bill was my favourite player and I'm gutted he has gone. Just looked like he was getting fit again and the sort of player we needed to drive us on. Hurts even more knowing where he has gone. Just such a massive job for the new man now. How can you lose Collin, Bodkin, Stannard, Sobers, Pelling, Medlock, Leonard etc etc in the space of a few months and push for promotion? I am sure Bill was on a good wedge so lets hope that is spent quickly on someone of equal ability.

If Adam is gone there is no news about his assistant Agutter; maybe he will be the next manager.
How disgusting that Lewes Fc announce the signing of our star player an hour ago and not a thing from us. And Dean Brown has been with us a week but not a dickie bird about the poor bloke. Nice to see a tweet telling us the u18s are playing tonight though. Seriously, do the people at the top give a toss anymore about us supporters. it is truly disgusting!!!!
Lewes FC is pleased to announce we've re-signed striker Billy Medlock and attacking midfielder Wilfried Grimaud.
Medlock appeared briefly for the Rooks under Simon Wormull, but has gone on to become one of the most feared forwards in the Isthmian League.
Medlock scored 28 goals in all competitions for Hastings United during the 2015/16 season, and was a thorn in the side of the Rooks when we secured a 2-1 victory at Hastings on August Bank Holiday Monday. The much-travelled striker has notched in the goals wherever he's been, including Dorking Wanderers, Burgess Hill Town and Sutton Utd.
Darren Freeman is delighted to have finally signed the 25-year-old striker. "Billy's signing brings competition for places," said Darren. "We're building a very good squad. Billy's been someone I've tried to get for a couple of years. He brings experience and, most of all, he brings goals."
The Rooks have also recaptured 25-year-old Wilfried Grimaud. Wilf made a big impact when he joined the Rooks last Spring and was just beginning to hit form when he suffered a serious injury in our victory at South Park. He's been back in his homeland of France recovering from the injury, but is now ready to return to first-team action.
"Wilf brings a physical presence," said Darren. "He came in last year and did very well for us. He's been back in France working very hard to get back to full fitness and we're pleased to have him back."
Both Billy and Wilf will be available for selection tomorrow, when we visit fellow high-flyers Walton Casuals.
Reece departs
Going in the opposite direction is midfielder Reece Williams-Bowers. The young midfielder joined the Rooks in the summer, but has been released to continue his career at Bostik League rivals Molesey. We wish Reece all the best.
Pretty amateur stuff agree. Although I have only seen one game it really does look like the first team at Hastings is not the most important thing. Very sad and you can see why the atmosphere is so bad like it was on Tuesday. If the manager has gone was he sacked or was he pushed out. Lot of talk about unhappy players and confirmed on here maybe it is people in charge of the club that should be going if they can not run it properly and maybe the manager realised very quickly Hastings was not a good place to be?
Our manager has decided that a club with 1 point after 8 games and most of their best players leaving just two months after he’d signed a 3 year full time contract is a better prospect than us?!!!! ( just the basic facts ) Wow..... says it all....

Think Hastings could do with someone taking charge of communications with supporters. Not very good for PR treating supporters with indifference on social media. How much worse can things get-depressing start to the season.
I'm really shocked by all of this and await further facts (whenever or if ever they might emerge). All that I feel confident in saying at present, is that no-one; the managerial team, the directors, disaffected players or whoever, should blame this shambles on comments made on this forum. Certainly, some of us questionned from the outset the whole basis of the club's proclaimed policy and more pointed out the evident contradictions and shortcomings in its application. But as far as I can see, no-one called for Adam's head, no-one made over the top or inappropriate comments and indeed there was much on this forum which, if heeded, could have made this whole ghastly situation avoidable.
All very depressing at United these days, not just the on the playing side but with Barrie feeling the need to resign and other long standing volunteers withdrawing their services or turning their back on the club, it's a fairly clear indication that something is very wrong with the way things are being run at the moment.
I don't think anybody is opposed to bringing young players through but unless you are lucky enough to have a modern version of the class of 92, not all at once and at the expense of the overall quality of the team. Especially this season, with three going up and our best chance in ages of getting out of this league, they way things are going we'll be lucky to finish out of the bottom 3.
Will the first game at the new stadium be the best ever venue to stage a County league match?
It's certainly helpful that the club have made a statement. I'm pleased that Adam's departure has been at his initiative, on agreed terms and without acrimony between ourselves and Worthing. That makes the whole situation much less heated. We will all wish Adam well at Worthing.
As for what follows, as Chris B says above, we will have to see where we go now. The club statement continues to endorse the youth / Hastings based approach. But there seems to be an acknowledgement from Adam's successor, Chris, that we will need several more experienced players. That is welcome. Frankly, we need that in order to expect to achieve a stable mid-table position by the end of the year. I don't expect anyone at the club to say that automatic promotion is no longer an aspiration for this season, but I'm already thinking that the best realistic hope for this season is to retain / re-motivate our best players, challenge for a play-off spot and (above all else) retain a manager and a nucleus of players into next season.
Let's hope Chris can motivate the lads to a win this afternoon. I am not going today but will return to watching away matches after today's game. I hate being negative but Tuesday's second half performance was the final straw.
I hope Adam manages to resolve his family issues he is a nice fella and I wish him well for the future.
Strange that with all the statements about encouraging local players we appoint a manager who has a massive commute to get to Hastings. There have been a few suggestions that some of our long distance players from last season were only interested in the money. From what I saw players like Frannie Collin, Matt Bodkin, Harry Stannard were always giving their best for the club and if there wasn't regular training it didn't seem to show in their performances or fitness levels. With 2 games a week for much of the season, not even convinced of the need for training once the season is underway. With our out of the way location we could be making things very difficult for ourselves by making a big deal about training regularly.
the old manager lived in Selsey. Being a Londoner wasn't quite sure where that was so now I know incredible that he took the job in the first place on a 3 year contract although he must have known the distance or did he get confused where Hastings is. Sounds like a smokescreen but good luck to new guy although cant see he has much experience as a manager so a big gamble
