Good opportunity for Steve to prove himself at a onference South side ( Albeit a troubled one ) , timing ain't great from our point of view though.

Absolute **** timing and what a hammer blow to our promotion chances. Understand that a lot of the signings and contacts were down to Steve and is it true that Jerome Sobers is one of his best mates? Believe Stannard lives in Ramsgate area as well.  Just really hope we do not see what very often happens and that is a load of our best players following him down the coast. I think the only saving grace is that Margate are pretty much down so Steve will be planning for next season and not looking for an immediate fix.

Despite the disappointment I would like to thank Steve for all he has done for the club and wish him all the best at Margate. Loved his passion, really nice bloke and will never forget his hat trick at Carshalton this season. Now we will really see what Darren is made off and the loyalty he gets from the players.

Unusually most of our players are on contract so will be less likely to leave as very unlikely Margate can afford to match or improve their money ( let alone pay a fee ) or even give them a contract considering the financial issues they are having.

Interesting to read this morning that Margate are going full time next season and are about to announce new investors. Suggest we make sure we bloody go up so the likes of Frannie, Jerome and Bods are not tempted elsewhere next season.

Talk about up and down eh? Margate are dead certs to go down - been left adrift by people who had all kinds of big ideas for the club (only to disappear) and on and off, all this goes back years. What was it - 10 years ago they had all kinds of plans, had a spell in the Conference top division, the ground was going to have all manner of upgrades..... And when Mark Westbrook and I wasted that Saturday afternoon for the washed out FA Cup tie, there was, if anything, less of the ground - infrastructure wise - than there had been on my previous visit a few years earlier!

Can't help thinking Margate supporters must be scratching their heads at this latest development as per Johnw's posting. Full time Ryman Premier - for that is where they will be next season.

Good luck to them!

I am begining to wonder what a massive influence Steve Watt must have been on the club.
I think he left soon after we thrashed Carshalton 5-0 and were playing some of our best football of the season, and now since he has gone we have struggled to score goals in fact 4 in the last 4 games, when before we were averaging 3/4 goals per game and our form has also taken a nosedive with no wins in 4 games.
I think at the time John said what **** timing and a hammer blow to our promotion chances and I think he could be right!
So after the latest assistant manager departure we will have to see what Darren is made of on his own and perhaps we will see who really was pulling all the strings in the dressing room and on contacts and signings etc!

And straight away Watty gets Margate's first win and draw after 18 consecutive defeats.

Do hope I am wrong but if we do not go up I can see at least 3 or 4 of our current squad moving to Margate next season.

Think that will depend on money and what happens with Margate's proposed new ownership.

And so it begins!! I would hazard a guess the first of many over the coming months to be heading to Margate.

Don't follow your argument John. Assuming Margate will be in Ryman Premier next season , why would Steve Watt want to sign Ryman South players to get them back into Conference South? Who do you think would go?

I see it this way if we go up and they go down it's money that talks. If we don't go up it will be clear players not good enough so we need new ones for next season. So it doesn't concern me at all.
