Same as. We (5 of us) booked a while ago Fri-Mon flying Gatwick 16.30 and stopping in St. Peter Port at Duke of Normandie in centre. No sign of tickets as yet for match.
Booked some weeks ago, have stayed at Duke of Normandie but now stay at St.Pierre Park which is about 5 minutes walk from the ground. You can hire a car but buses are regular and all fares are £1. One thing I should mention is that Guernsey is not part of the NHS (Jersey is), so you either take a chance or get some insurance. I was told last year that a visit to the doctor is £47.00 and if an ambulance if needed to take you to hospital the cost is £120.00. One advantage is that there is no VAT , so buying cameras ,phones ,computers etc work out about 20 per cent cheaper.
Hello Uncle Les,
Certainly local ,born in the old St.Helens Hospital, and grew up in Ore, followed United for a long, long time both home and away. Certainly remember Chris Clarke and Kevin Barry, not sure if you know that his widow June does the boardroom hospitality.
Memory getting bad but were Steve Gill ,Kevin Simpson and John Cowan playing around the same time as Kevin and Chris?
By the way can reccomend the round island trip on Guernsey. Get either the 91 or 92 bus from the Town terminus and you travel all the way round for a quid. Takes about 90 minutes, well worth it.

Sorry this bit almost deserves its own thread ....I think John Cowan had moved on when Simmo and Steve Gill arrived on the scene Phil ..I remember Cowan being replaced by Martin Arnold ... wasn't the same type of keeper ... he had an awful kick . And then came Gerry Armstrong ... my all time favourite U's keeper. That United side of the early 70's didn't set the world on fire but they were my first footballing heroes .I can remember so many names , Bobby Nash , Bobby Houghton, Alex Sheridan , John Jeffries ,Micky Griffiths, Hugh Cunningham , Archie Thorburn , Graham Mackman , Stevie Jeapes, Micky Westbrough, Colin Spray , Wayne Partridge ... and others ....( might have spelt some of those names wrong )... Kevin Barry was a real nice guy too .
Blimey John , certainly dragged up some names there. Gerry Armstrong of course went onto umpire at Wimbledon , and Bobby Houghton managed Malmo in a European cup final. Micky Westburgh one of the best left backs we ever had, played for us for years. Wish we had him now.
Apologies to everyone else.......this has now turned into an HGS nostalgia session.
These are ALL familiar names to me.....but surely you missed Alan McKinlay and Mick Gregory, though I think Mick may have arrived in the sixth form. I was actually captain of the HGS first eleven that included Adrian, Steve, Gary, Alan and Mick.
