After the great display against Greenwich is is now away to Horsham_FC_badge.png

Horsham are currently the number 13 in the table with 25 points out of 20 games.

Scored 40 and conceded 43 goals.

They did now win a game for 3 games now in the league.

Horsham plays at: Goring's Mead,Horsham  clubhouse.jpg

And we? Are we in a flow? Are the newcomers in the team a real addition? Looking at our last games, how we play, how much we score, it really seems the Management has brought not only good football in the team but also the Spirit you need!

Hope a lot of supporters will make the trip and have all a safe journey!

COYU'sssssssssss!

Be good to see Josh Pelling again, 2nd best keeper in the leaguebiggrin. Play anything like we have been and he could be in for a busy afternoon.

Always enjoyed our trips to Horsham and have always had a good friendly rivalry between the two of us. Looking at the league table I think Dom has done a really good job there this season after county football last year and I am sure he will have them fired up for this game. Really looking forward to this one.

Yes a very good point for Horsham last night away at Cray Wanderers after leading 2-1 with 15 minutes to go, so it won't be an easy game, but as John says play like we have been playing and we could be in for an entertaining afternoon.

I still think Dom is a good manager and hope I'm not proved right on Saturday. Looking forward to a good game and some more cracking football from United. I hope Coley is back but don't want him to play and aggravate his injury. Any more news on Steve Butcher and Jack McClean?

Another match we couldn't close out and concede in the last minute. In view of results above us it was a chance missed to make up ground.Without many players today and another early substitution for injury? to Cogan

Agree it was a good side but just stating we were without Pidgeley,Butcher,Cole,Davies and Watt for various reasons.Hopefully Cogan won't be added to this list

Just a quick update as I'm dashing out for a Thai. (Meal not girl !)
Very annoying not to take 3 points today as had more than enough chances in the second half to be out of sight.
We hit the bar with a header from a corner in the first couple of minutes and then went ahead with a scrappy own goal. However Horsham gave as good as they got first half and probably had slightly more of he ball, though I think we were the more dangerous.
Second half we were far the better side and created so many good positions and half chances that I lost count. Meanwhile Horsham barely threatened and it seemed that it was only a matter of time before we made the game safe. Ollie hit the bar with a header from another corner about ten minutes from the end and we hoped it didn't matter.
Then Ellis replaced Stanard and we suddenly lost the initiative and invited them on to us.
We gave away a totally unnecessary free kick from a push in the back from a header we couldn't win in the 94th minute and Horsham scored with a low drive into the corner from the free kick.
The ref blew up as soon as the game restarted.
So pretty damn frustrating and definitely two points thrown away.

More later after my soft shell crab.

Huge disappointment today and a great chance lost to close the gap on the teams at the top, who all dropped points today. Against a very hard working but very limited Horsham side, Hastings missed numerous chances throughout the 90mins only to see Horsham score with just about their first meaningful shot of the game with the last kick of the match.

The day started poorly with Pidgely being injured in the warm up, to add to our defensive crisis with Davies, Watt, Cole and Butcher all missing already. The game started scrappy but within 5 mins Harry hit the underside of the bar and a couple of half chances from Frannie and Cogan, the latter being clattered for a clear penalty, only resulting in him hobbling off with a nasty looking ankle injury. Finally the break came which our pressure just about deserved with their number 6 turning a Harry Stannard cross into his own net. The rest of the half was fairly average with Hastings clearly struggling with having to play so many players in unfamiliar positions.

Second half was end to end, with both teams having similar possession, but all the chances were falling to Hastings. Ollie hit the bar, Frannie and Stannard both had shots comfortably saved by Pelling and new boy Hughes Mason frustrated the hell out of everyone as on 3 occasions in the game he had an easy chance to put an attacker clean through but held on to the ball way too long. At the other end, there was a lot of possession for Horsham but very few chances although Ollie did make one super tackle when Horsham were clean through. Then deep in injury time a completely needless free kick was given away on the edge of the area (not sure by who) and the ball was hit low past the wall and into the corner. Horsham celebrated like they had one the league wish I guess is a big compliment to us but nevertheless a massive disappointment.

We played nothing like we had over the previous few weeks but I am putting this down to injuries and absentees. It was not just those that were missing but the fact that due to numbers we are playing an inexperienced 17 year old at right back (did great by the way), Sam Cruttwell centre back, Simon Johnson had to play deep, when he is so dangerous further forward, we had Stannard in the centre, and he is just to lightweight there, whilst Frannie Collin was also forced to play way too deep. This left Jack Harris, who looked about 50% fit and struggled throughout up top on his own.

In a nutshell, we didn't play great but had enough chances to have one comfortably. Horsham never stopped working and you couldn't begrudge them their equalizer, but yet again the depth of our squad is ridiculously thin and every time we sign one, another two are out injured. Not sure what 11 we will be able to get out on Tuesday and defensive cover now has to be an absolute priority as it was a month ago.

ps - Great to see Josh Pelling today. Great lad and hope to see him back at the Pilot Field in future years.

Really great point from Mick. As with the last away draw at Carshalton, the game really changed on the substitution of Harry Stannard. No one in the crowd understood it and as soon as he was off we lost some cutting edge. The management should have been brave and hauled off sub Harris or the very frustrating Hughes Mason, who did work hard but was really hanging in the last 20.

Need a win at Faversham now. Good wins for South Park and Hythe in the FA Trophy.

Interesting to read the Horsham take on the match on their website who agree on the influence of Harry Standard. Unless he was injured I think everyone agrees it was a mistake to take him off today, not for the first time this season.

May I ask of people who were at the game on Saturday, what do you make of Jaydon ? I reckon he is very good going forward, he has pace and can whip in a wicked left foot cross on the run into the danger area.
Defensively though.....in my opinion, a real concern.

He's not particularly good in the air and constantly seems to let forwards get in ahead of him by not going to meet the ball. So a bit of a liability defensively.
He actually feels like a very decent winger being asked to play too far back to me. Is this what we need?

Soooo frustrating to concede sooooo late. Did well in the second hald, United were the better side and looked good going forward and good at the back too - well played Ryan in goal. Just frustrating we led so late in proceedings and didn't hang onto it.

Stannard substitution a mystery. I think Jaydon will do ok for us. Bearing in mind makeshift defence we did ok at Horsham - till that 94th minute....... Good to see Jack playing well and fit too. Looks a real handful.

Must have been a weird afternoon for the home keeper with a decent away following behind his goal and not a word of abuse! Good to see Josh fit again.
