Never heard of him and know nothing about him but have to trust Darren's judgement on this one. Interesting reading the Maidstone supporters views who feel Ryman south is really his level and they didn't particularly rate him. Would much rather see a central defender coming in but like I said, you have to trust Darren's judgement as he's not really got much wrong to date.

Looks like Bright Temba has gone out to Eastbourne Town on a dual Contract .... Good luck to him ... Can only do him good I think

I too really hope this works for Bright. I don't know him personally, but he comes over from his match day appearances as a conscientious and loyal team player. I'm sure more regular game time will help him develop. From comments made, Darren appreciates him and I hope we will see him back at Pilot Field in the future.

Absolutely the right decision with Bright. He will be much better for it and no doubt he will be a great player for Hastings in the future and undoubtably will go on to a higher standard of football as he matures.

two loan signings from Leyton Orient in defender Myles Judd and midfielder Victor Adeboyejo. Both players will go also join the squad for tomorrow's match.

Jay May signed for Hythe. Hope that's not a missed opportunity by us as I thought he was absolute quality when with us.Apart from one game at Margate Akrofi has been pretty average in my opinion and really hasn't looked like scoring and with Frannie's fitness always a concern and Bright way off the standard required at present I would have loved to have seen him back. Great signing for Hythe although I see Alfie May is on trial at Stevenage.

Interesting looking back on this old thread, what did happen with the two Leyton Orient loanees? Only seemed to be here for one week.

Well Hessenthaler was sacked after we had them a week. So probably explains it.

I wonder what the real reason was why he chose Hythe. Did he want to come to Hastings and we couldn't afford him or did we feel that we didn't need him?
I know that he was top of my list for getting a new striker and am really disappointed that we didn't sign him.
Hythe seem to have plenty of money though at the moment and have assembled a decent squad and are doing quite well in the league.
I agree with John in that Akrofi is a pretty average player,he does a lot of running around but seems to keep being muscled off the ball and doesn't look like scoring. Have we actually signed him or is he on Loan? whatever the case we need another striker and to me Jay May would have been the perfect choice!

Are you aware that Alfie and Jay are related ?

Okay, I didn't know that but that makes a lot of sense then. Still hasn't gone there for family love though and we all know Frankie goes where the money is. Couldn't have our Sam Adams back now could we?

Any truth in the rumour that Alex has signed for Tonbridge Angels? Good luck to them if true as he has been hopeless for us and not sure a step up is the right thing for him. I also hope that if true, and with our squad down to the bare bones, that the club would not have released him without having someone else on board or coming very soon so lets hopefully look forward to some good news very soon.

This transfer is on the Ryman web site.
Fuller Roseje from Hastings United to East Grinstead Town.
Who is Fuller? Can we assume this is Jerome Roseje.
The few games I saw him play I thought he was OK and didn't make any errors.
I have been surprised we haven't tried him in our back four recently.

We need 5 players 2 defenders 1 midfield and 2 forwards if we are too stand any chance of playoffs. These all need to be 1st team and not squad players. I believe its that serious.

I totally agree with that Chris. Was talking about this with someone today and on top of the walking wounded and those have left all it needs is an injury to say Ollie and Bodkin and we suddenly look like a bottom half of the table team. Agreed, its that serious now.

Do we have any news on the Harris injury? looked pretty serious when he came off and poor old Johnno looks like he could break down at any time.

Well Alex has gone because the Tonbridge manager has confirmed it in an interview after Saturday's game. He even warmed up with them before the game. Hope he does better for them than he did for us although that won't be hard.

I am really struggling to understand the thought process in our signings. The successful sides have a settled squad by September and add quality as and when either money becomes available or players do. We just seem to move from one average player to another. At this moment i cant see Hare is taking us anywhere and its looking like another disappointing season.

That is really harsh Chris, even from you. I think Akrofi was pants and not seen nearly enough from Cogan yet. Watt has been slightly disappointing from a fitness point of view but Bodkin, Stannard, Collin, Harris and Pidgeley have been top signings. Lets also remember he talked Rowe into staying and Cruttwell has flourished under the new management team. Everyone knows, including the manager and directors that we are 4 or 5 players short but I have no doubt they are working at it behind the scenes and really hope something will be announced very quickly, especially up front.

For me, the style of play and some of the performances have been as good as I have seen at the Pilot Field for many year and I have not seen a better team this season when attacking. Yes, we do struggle for results against the top 5 teams and we do at times look suspect at the back but I don't think anyone can say Darren is not taking us anywhere, I have seen huge improvements and we are light years away from where we have been over the past few seasons when I have been bored to tears and Its the first time I've been excited about watching Hastings for a long time. The only issue we have in my opinion is our squad is dangerously thin, and like I have already said, we are almost 2 or 3 injuries away from our season almost ending from a promotion point of view. Lets just give Darren another week or so to see what he comes up with on the transfer front.

Been told that Danny Ellis played well for our Dev squad last night and has played a few games now for them so should be back to fitness, whats peoples views of bringing him back into the squad? could cover some midfield gaps?

I heard that. Danny Ellis one of my favourite players from days gone by. Great skills and work rate and certainly a great addition to the squad but he has been out of the game for so long now I am not sure if that is the immediate answer to our problems at present. Really needs a high profile signing or loanee of the likes of Jay May earlier in the season, to keep us happy.

I see Chris Smith is spending yet another year on the bench at Burgess Hill, that is the sort of player we need.

I agree we are better to watch but thats not the whole story we need to win games against good sides at our level but we arent. We are in result terms no better than last year and its results that count in the end. Its ok playing well in a 4-4 draw but we would be better winning an awful game 1-0. I dont doubt Darren knows we have issues but im not seeing anything being done to rectify these issues.

Alex just never looked like doing anything for us - perhaps not getting that crucial first goal, I don't know. Defence and up front shortfalls need sorting and no messing, we HAVE to win our next two games to get league campaign going. Greenwich next tuesday in particular.

Dorking and Tooting big wins last night - we are 24 and 18 points behind them which is a huge gap. Play offs are a "That'll have to do" - lottery, I hate them. And thats what we have to aim for.

Games against Dorking, Greenwich, Walton Casuals and Carshalton have produced one point. Some consolation in that they all have to come to the Pilot Field - we have to see off sides like that.

We have talked about quality of signings and the ability to beat the top sides but something no one has mentioned is our away form. I do like my facts and figures so here is one for everyone. Did you know that Hastings have won just two away games since March 1st, being a 4-0 win at Whyteleafe and a 1-0 win East Grinstead back in April. Keep in mind that Dorking, Tooting and Hythe have all won seven away from home already this season perhaps that is where the real problem lies.

I rest my case John we arent improving in the results department. This is Darrens team and not one he inherited its not good enough. I wonder if we pay players too much as im sure most if not all the teams above us have a smaller budget.

Its all "what if's", I know, but we have had two great cup runs, one still going, and if we go on a win streak and win our games in hand including wins over Dorking and Greenwich coming up, we are suddenly top 5, just look what has happened over at Lewes. That wont happen with our current squad, unless everyone is 100% fit or new signings come in, and history is against us playing the top dogs in the league I know, but we are not a million miles off. Our best starting 11 is as good as any in the league, I still believe that, and as for budgets, I would not be surprised if Dorking, Greenwich and Hythe are all higher than ours.

I will always try and give my absolute honest view on everything to do with the club whether people like it or not, and I just cannot agree on this one. Yes we need players in quick and at least 3 or 4 of them of quality, but I honestly think Darren has done a super job so far, does anyone else?

Whatever we disagree upon; it is clear that we need more players, within the limit of our budget, if we are to get to the play-offs. That is the objective which matters.

What we should have done is put all our eggs into one basket and got ourselves eliminated from all cups at the earliest possible stage. Surely the league should have had priority and this hasnt been the case. I dont know who made the decision to try in the cups but barring a drastic change of fortune it would appear to be the wrong choice.

I agree John Darren has produced some fine football this season but I think he knows we need players and I understand he has been working hard to get some in. Just hope Jack and Simon are OK for Saturday, don't care about tonight.

Agree with you about tonight Steve, also about eggs and baskets etc. but I also think we have the making of a really good team, if it holds together, we have seen some moments this season of what could be, but for me it is not going to be this season, we are already way too far behind. I think we should be patient, trust in Darren, and see what happens, I am sure we will not be disappointed.

You may be right KT but still hope for this season but must win 9 or 10 in a row including beating Dorking and Greenwich.

With regards to injuries we do get next to no info on injury updates apart from the Observer now and again. Do we know how Harris and Johnno are? Is Cole back soon? how is Butchers hamstring? is Butler still taking a break? is Jack McLean still our player and when will he be back to full fitness? Anyone?

I Don't know why we bothered signing Alex Akrofi in the first place especially if he lives in Dagenham, Doesn't Drive and Struggled to get to training sessions!
The club must have known about this before they signed him.
Just as well then that he wasn't any good for us as I would have been really annoyed if he was a brilliant player and couldn't play for us for the above reasons.

Hastings United FC can confirm that Jerome Roseje and Alex Akrofi have been released with the full consent of the football club. Jerome will continue at East Grinstead, where he has been on an extended loan, and Alex Akrofi will be joining Tonbridge Angels.

We wish them both all the best for the future.

Darren Hare says ‘It seems like the last thing that we should be doing is letting players go with the squad hit by injuries, but Jerome wanted to play regularly to develop as a player at this level and we both agreed that this may well be better served at East Grinstead rather than here at present. However, we shall monitor his performances over the course of the season with a view to inviting him back at the beginning of next season. I believe a year playing at this level will improve him significantly.

"In addition, Alex was finding the journey too difficult. He couldn’t easily get to training as he doesn’t drive and this was proving frustrating for us all, and indeed, him. He lives in Dagenham, so the journey to Hastings was always going to be a barrier, so reluctantly we have allowed him to move on. We wish both players the best of luck moving forwards

I am hoping to announce a signing to replace Alex before Saturday, and we are also looking at recruiting others to bolster the squad in the next couple of weeks, particularly in defensive and midfield areas. However, we need to make sure they are the right fit for the team and the club"
