After the win in the Cup it is back to The League with an away game to Dorking_Wanderers_F.C._logo.png

Dorking are currently the number 4 in the table with 15 points out of 6 games. They won all their 4 home games and won one away game and lost one.

Scored 15 and conceded only 5 goals. Top scorers are Briggs with 5 and Mc Shane with 4 goals.

Last season the results were: at home we lost 2-3 (goals Medlock and Richardson-Brown) and away we won 1-2 ( a 35 yard rocket from Sam Cruttwell and the winner from Attwood)

Dorking play at: Westhumble Playing Fields,London Road, Dorking,Surrey  slider5.jpg?crc=4217031464

And we? What can we say? Still in the Cups with unlucky only away games to play and still unbeaten in both Cups and Competition.

Dorking will be a test where we exactly are/stand at the moment; with the absence of May but with the return of Jack Harris Jack Harris we hopefully are able to keep our unbeaten record.

Safe journey for all who will travel to Surrey and please support the team 100%!

COYU'ssssssssssssssss!

Probably inevitable that Billy scored although seemed to be massively deflected. Thought Dorking probably shaded first half with their no.8 roasting Butler time and again. Got back into it with a deserved equaliser, and thought we would eventually win. Have to put their winner down to a mistake by Lenny. Although we were 100 yards away most of our supporters thought that he could have caught the initial cross rather than punch it away. Sam Cruttwell was my man of the match, he will be massively missed for the next two games. Jack Harris needs to get a lot fitter and Frannie needs to find his shooting boots, the sooner the better.

Frustrating afternoon, we didnt really get going and what momentum we did build up was terminated when Medlock of all people - good goal albeit helped with a deflection - scored.

Jack is clearly not fit yet and reminded me of Zac Attwood last season as he returned from injury. Yes, Reece got cleaned out at 3, but that Wanderers 8 will cause lots of problems to other 3s with his pace.

The one chance Bodkin got to go on one of his runs saw United level and we were right back in it. But as Phil says, Lenny punching out a cross possibly led to the deciding goal.

All very frustrating but might've been worse as the ref (5/10) blew for half time just as Medlock lined up for 2-0. Wanderers understandably brassed off about that.

Already 12 points adrift and midtable with games in hand. B*ll*cks to the FA Cup, I want out of this division!

I understand what you are saying Bert, there does appear to be a lack of interest at the moment.I feel, even at this early stage that a number of teams will start pulling away from us already. If we lose to Greenwich Borough, which is highly likely,we will be struggling to catch up

There's a situation developing reminiscent of the last few seasons where successful cup games leave us with the dreaded games in hand in the league. Much as I like a good cup run - and of course it has financial benefits - we can't compete in the FA Cup, League Cup, County Cup & Trophy without losing focus & legs in the league. Aren't we all agreed that HUFC should be going all-out to get promotion this season even if that means being less - intense - in the cups?

Don't think that it is disinterest Bert. We are in the middle of a run of 7 away games, which in all my time of watching the team is unprecedented. We were last at home on September 10th and next home game scheduled for 15th October. A lot of supporters have neither the time ,nor more importantly the finances to keep travelling away, thus not commenting.
I'm sure it will pick up in a couple of weeks when we hopefully start climbing the league.

Reading the of course totally unbiased Dorking report, it sound like we were fortunate not to be on the end of a complete hammering!

Billy Medlock made it 3 goals in 2 games as Wanderers comfortably saw off previously unbeaten Hastings United on Saturday at Westhumble.

The visitors, boasting former Chelsea goalkeeper and Premier League winner Lenny Pidgeley, started the brighter as Wanderers struggled initially to get into their rhythm. However, it wasn’t long before Wanderers settled down and started to play free flowing football of their own, with the ever impressive Matt Briggs causing havoc down the left. Indeed, Briggs (after two piercing runs) went close twice, putting the ball narrowly past Pidgeley’s post, before the deadlock was finally broken, when ex Hastings man Billy Medlock saw a 25 yard drive deflect over Pidgeley to give Wanderers the lead.

Wanderers were now firmly in charge, and James McShane should have added a second goal but pulled his close range shot agonisingly wide. Then, on the stroke of half time, a bizarre refereeing decision saw Wanderers denied a perfectly good second goal. Billy Medlock beat the keeper and the ball was rolling in to the net, however the referee strangely blew for half-time as the ball crossed the line, much to the amazement of both management teams and the crowd.

HT 1-0

Wanderers started the second half a lot brighter than they did the first, strongly dominating possession. However, it was the visitors that broke away against the run of play, to equalise through Simon Johnson in the 50th minute.

With ‘the goal that never was’ incident hanging over the Wanderers players, alongside a goal against the run of play, Wanderers should be credited for showing great character and determination to regain the lead, which they did through a close range effort from Robb Sheridan in the 72nd minute, after Pidgeley could only punch clear a Kevin Terry corner.

Both Briggs and Medlock had chances to add to the lead, before Manager Marc White ran the defensive changes.

The last 15 minutes saw the away side mainly control the game as Wanderers were happy to drop deep to secure their fifth straight league win.

FT 2-1

Manager Marc White said after the game: “I thought Hastings were impressive. They have a good management team and a well organised playing side. I thought we played well today, and showed great determination to secure the points after the incredible disallowed goal debacle. We created several clear cut chances during the game that could have made the score line look more comfortable, but we did enough to get over the line which is all that matters”.

Nail on the head Phil. Tuesday will be our 4th away game in 2 weeks. Now people know I love to go to the away games with my son and lovely young lady and had I gone to all four I worked it out that entrance fees, diesel, programme, food and drink for the three of us would have cost me £150 in just 2 weeks. Just impossible for most supporters.....unless you are very rich like Phil.
