That is really disappointing, always been one of my favourite players but I am all for a brand new start next season. New manager, new players, new beginning. How many games did Sammy win us last year? I cannot remember one and 3 goals from 43 games in what was often an attacking midfield role. Always consistent, and like I said, one of my all time favourites but for me his form has been on the wane for a couple of seasons now. Probably needs the change and all the best to him.
That is disappointing, regardless of who was brought in next season i think Sam could have played a good part. was a great Free-kick taker on his day and need to replace that side of things as well.
Leaves with 110 goals in 441 games, 1 in 4 pretty decent for a player who has played all over.

I agree with John in respect of it's time we moved on, new manager, new players, think we can cope without Sam.
Thanks to Sam though for all those appearances
Yes, I too agree with John and Chris regarding Sam. A great player for the club over many years and thanks and appreciation are due in full measure for that. But I didn't feel he was at his best last season; and he's fully entitled to look for a new start elsewhere.
Rather worrying that Hythe - and others - are getting their act together quickly whilst we are still on the starting block. Let's hope we have a positive announcement from the Club regarding a new manager very soon and let's hope that he firstly secures those players from last season that we all want to see return and then brings in key players of his choice. Let's hope the budget will allow that without undue constraint!
Agree with a new start and all that but Sammy will be missed ... He doesn't stop running . He's always been one of my favourite players . Good luck to him though . He owes us nothing ! As for worrying about us getting out the traps to nail down players for next season ....it didn't do us much good a couple of years ago when Terry had a decent squad from the off, or so we all thought , so I wouldn't worry too much yet . Would like to hear who the gaffers going to be though soon ,
sad to see Sam go, has always given 100% when he plays. i suppose there is still time for a new manager to talk to him to change his mind but heard from a player that no one from club has been in touch with last seasons players about the manager and next seasoon so no surprise players finding othe clubs
