It gets pretty quiet and boring on here leading up to pre season training and the mad scramble for players in July so thought I would start a new thread on player and manager movements in and around the Ryman Leagues. Will continue to update over the next few months and anyone can add if they get a sniff of a bit of news. Here is a start.
Tonbridge Angels have just released Anthony Riviere, Bradley Woods Garness, Charlie Webster and Lawrence Ball. Couple of good ones in there!
Lewes already appear busy before the season has barely finished. As well as getting a number of players to resign, including ex Hastings player Steve Brinkhurst, they have now signed Jamie Brotherton from Three Bridges and wide man Josh Jones from Burgess Hill.
Margate have released six after narrowly avoiding relegation. Jamie Stuart, Danny Green, Kane Wills, Chris Lewington, Jake Goodman and Christian Jolley are all on their way.
Dorking have already made their first signing of the season in ex Walton & Hersham skipper Gareth Chendlick.
Gurnsey have lost two important first team players. Midfielder Guille Fernandez, is moving to Benidorm and defender Jacques Isabelle is off to Dubai.
On the management front, ex Hastings player Kevin Keehan leaves Horsham to take up the player manager role at Shoreham. Mark Shutt takes over the reigns at Peacehaven & Telscombe. Ex Phoenix Sports manager Tony Beckingham replaces Kevin Horlock at Chatham Town and ex player, Anthony Williams replaces Craig Turner at Chipstead.
Would be very useful for a new manager to have a meeting with Gary Wilson to hear his thoughts on what players contributed most or least to our season. Also to hear Gary's views on the footballing matters which concerned him.
i saw a player a couple of days ago and when i asked all the player would say that it was to do with politics on how the club is run. he wouldnt go any further but i think he knew
Dorking look to be splashing the cash early this season. After the capture of former W&H captain Gareth Chendlick they have now signed the Ryman South's top scoring midfielder from last season, James Mcshane, who scored 24 goals for Molesey.
Herne Bay player Lee Browning has had to retire from football after his horrific clash of heads injury v Ramsgate earlier in the season.
Ramsgate have made their first signing of the season in Sittingbourne defender George Crimmen.
And a different kind of news, Tooting & Mitcham, one of my favourite non league grounds, have put in for planning permission for an artificial pitch at Imperial Fields.
I've always liked Tom. I know he was in hospital earlier in the year with some problem but a real mystery why he never returned. Looked really good when he slotted in at the back and had to be a better option at left back.
Lewes have lost their star striker Jonte Smith who has moved to Welling, their forward line looks solid but unspectacular at the mo although Charlie Coppala is highly rated.
More signings for Lewes as they sign Burgess Hill striker Dan Perry. Also leaving Burgess Hill is influential captain Darren Budd (he would have been great for us) who appears to be joining the other mercenaries at Shoreham. Are they set to be the next Whitehawk I wonder?
Lewes have 19 senior players commited already before the end of May so they will be very settled under Darren Freeman and well organised by Aug and obviously looking to challenge for a return to the Prem immediately.
Hythe Town continue the spending signing Charlie Webster from Tonbridge Angels, Dan Parkinson from Herne Bay and Chris Saunders from Ashford Town.
After narrowly missing out on promotion to the conference south there now appears to be a mass exodus of players at Bognor including Ryman premier top scorer Jason Prior, who has joined Havant & Waterlooville, who of course visit Hastings for a pre season friendly.
in other news both Eastbourne Borough and Crowborough Athletic are having new 3G pitches. So many teams going this way now you wonder how many will be on grass in 10 years time.
some county teams are paying the same money as ryman for less games and less travelling, I don't know how they do it with there gates, the money runs out the players move on, a usual cycle unfortunately
Chipstead name Ant Williams at their 9th manager in four seasons....and we thought we had it bad.
East Grinstead sign 8 new players including a keeper, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders and striker Stefan Joseph from Corinthian Casuals.
Greenwich Boro have signed winger Remi Sutton and midfielder Lewis Spence form Thurrock.
Horsham close to finalising their squad with four more signings including Midfielder Ollie Rowland and George Banford both from Burgess Hill, who by the way have tied down Chris Smith for another season, and striker Charlie Pitcher from Loxwood.
