Just sitting down to watch Dover, in play offs, made me realise how badly our club has been since that great evening all those years ago. Since then we have had years of average / poor football. Surely it's time for this too change, even if it means a whole new squad

Good luck to Dover. Chris, I certainly agree that Dover have done well since our encounter whilst we have not. I think - looking at where they have been over the last 20 years or so - that when we met on that occasion that they were at a low ebb; but there is no denying our contrasting subsequent fortunes. Since then we have indeed had years of average football (albeit with some patches of inspiration) and an absence of any real consistency.
It goes without saying that we all want success. The problem is how to achieve that.
I don't think a total change of playing staff is the best or necessary answer. It might be that whoever gets appointed to be our new manager will want to do just that. I hope not. We need to try and build on the positives of last season.Surely, there are at least half a dozen in last year's squad that most of us would wish (fitness issues apart) to retain? Of course, we need three or four new players; but more important is team building, motivation, player fitness, and better game tactics. Let's hope the Board find someone who can deliver those; and that they and we can show patience with whoever gets the job.

Seconded, GeoffM. Didn't I read somewhere though that the Dover chairman was fed up with bankrolling the club when they were still only getting 350-odd through the gate? I can't find the quote now, typically, but if true the plug might get pulled.

Dover lost in the play offs but reading the reports they had regurlarly 800-900 visitors and even sometimes 1800.
