3 go down and looks like they will split equally between the Sussex, Surrey and Kent leagues ( not sure what the correct name for the leagues are any more! )
And who are the likely contenders to be promoted to our current division? And the likely relegation teams (Lewes look certain, perhaps)? I know that the matter of promotion from the County leagues is complicated, because - as I understand it - an application needs to be made by an 'eligible' club and there are then ground standard and financial criteria to be met. But since as it seems likely we are to remain another year or more in Ryman South the potential runners and riders for next year become increasingly significant.
Lewes(managed by Darren Freeman) were confirmed as being relegated yesterday and Horsham (with Dom D P) will be returning from the Sussex League as Eastbourne Town(managed by John Lambert) challenge has sunk like a stone with only one point from the last possible nine
I did hear a story that Horsham may be refused promotion as apparently they only have use of their current ground for one more season. Does anybody know further details ?
They are the Combined Counties League, which covers SW London & Surrey, The Southern Combination (was Sussex County League) and The Southern Counties East League (was Kent League).
I didn't like the name change to the SCL, but given that the last team that came up was Dorking W, I guess the name-change was due!
Much depends on ground-grading, and in the case of the CCL, location, because they also feed the Southern League. Last year only 2 clubs went down from our division - Horsham & Redhill - because of ground-grading issues elsewhere.
