After the great display against Hythe we have another test against
Whyteleafe are currently the number 15 in the table with 56 points out of 39 games.
Scored 59 and conceded 61 goals. Top scorer is Sam Clayton.
Last season we played at home 2-2 and away 0-0.
And we?
Reading the matchreport we fully deserved the point against Hythe who had won 10 of their 11 last matches.
Debut for Kevant Serbony and back in goal keeper Joe Taylor last evening against Hythe but we lost 2 key players who received a red card: Simon Johnson and Billy Medlock.
Of course this game is played within 45 hours after the Hythe game but i think with a huge crowd and big support we can do this!
Whyteleafe have a great bunch of fans who much like Whitstable fans the other week , will not stop singing . Unlike us who hardly start singing ! There won't be many in attendance I doubt but they were very noisy last year . Lets get behind the players tomorrow !
Well the Leafe fans were quiet ,,, not much for them to cheer about and to be fair we didn't look much in the first half either but Sam Crutwell made a difference second half . He bossed the midfield for me ! Jack Mclean was good too and was MoM for me ... How on earth he hasnt been picked up before is beyond me . He had had a great touch and caused chaos down the left wing whenever he got the ball in both halves ... Great display for me 👏👏👏👍. Great goal by Cris C-B too 👍 Onwards and upwards but weve got to win on Tuesday. The ref was yet again awful !!!
Happy to take any win today after Thursday's exertions and a good battling display against decent opposition. First half was fairly even without too many clear cut chances but it was Jack who looked most likely to create something for us.
Second half we were under the cosh for a while and probably very fortunate to not fall behind on a number of occasions. But, as Windy rightly said, the game changed when Crutts arrived on the scene. The lad is high quality and I hope we can keep hold of him for a bit longer.
As for the new guys, Jack was outstanding and rightly MotM. Kevant (is that a real name) looked OK but a little immobile...Not as much quality as Simon in my opinion, and Richard at full back did pretty well too. Just a final word about a couple of others, Sammy worked his socks off today...just the sort of preparation you need to run a half marathon and I thought Chris had his best ever game for us too.
Good second half performance today very pleased with that result. Chris's goal was very well taken and he's certainly starting to put in some good shifts. Good highlights Dan thanks for that.
A bit off the thread but I think we must spare a thought to those players injured at the game with Herne Bay v Ramsgate that suffered head injuries, leading to an air ambulance being required . I'm sure you wil all join me in wishing the individuals well and a speedy recovery, sometimes football rivalry is put into perspective when incidents like this happen.
deserve win but that first half was so dull. i think we had jack maclean before and i thought he was a good player, one that can make things happen bit like young Sam Crutwell and he was the game changer for me and dont understand why he has not started last 2 games. new defender looked ok. well taken goal by cumming bart but before that we could so easy have been 2 goals down and i think there player that missed the sitter will have nightmares tonight. not convincing but deserve win and win is all that matter
My honest opinion is that as far as decisions went, they got the benefit of the doubt in the first half and we got the same in the second half. I'd agree they edged it for the first hour but they didn't take their chances ....and that's down to them. Once Crutts arrived we had more quality than them as the result proved.
Yes Mick, interesting to view Whytleafe's take on things. Yes there were quite a few little niggling fouls in the first half from our new number 10, but for anyone to suggest that he should have been off after 30 minutes is absurd; as is the suggestion that it was a 'home town' display by the referee - I think it was well over 20 minutes before he gave a decision in our favour!
We all agree Sam Cruttwell's introduction turned the game. He brought the extra energy we needed. Agree too that it was a pretty good display from Jack McLean. He showed great confidence in running into the box and that led to an excellent goal from the consistently improving Chris Cumming-Bart.
So, we go into the final few games with - I feel - about an evens chance of making the play-offs. We might well need another 15 points to get there, however. With our fixture list that is quite a task.
