After the postponed match against EGT we now face the first of 2 encounters whitin 4 days against CorinthianCasuals.png

Casuals are currently the number 11 in the table with 49 points out of 29 games. Scored 45 and conceded 34 goals.

Top scorers : Akokhia and Spencer withh 9 and 11 goals.

They lost yesterday in a cup match away to Sittingbourne 1-2.

From their last 6 home matches they won and lost 3. From their 14 home matches they won 8 and lost 6; never a draw!

Last season we lost at home 0-1 and away 0-2.

Casuals play at King George's Field Address: Queen Mary Close, Tolworth, KT6 7NA Estádio do Corinthian Casuals

And we ? Another postponed match, now against EGT will give us more pressure. And at the other hand you may say that the team had have some more rest. Just the way you look at it. Big encounters within 4 days against a team who is also in contest for a play-off place. The results of last year show that these will be difficult games but if you want to be a serious contender for the play-off places then you have to win these games!

Save journey for all the supporters who are going!

COYU'ssssssssssssssss!

By my reckoning we now have just five weeks left without a midweek fixture. So it's not quite reached crisis point yet (by that I mean having to play Tuesdays AND Thursdays) but it's not too far off.
One problem is that so many of these postponed games are ending up as midweek matches away from home...which is pretty bad news for players and supporters.
We don't really want to have to go into the play offs having played twice a week where our opponents have only been playing on Saturdays.
Let's hope for some dry weather soon.....otherwise our promotion chances will be blown, ironically, by our early season cup successes.

I am serious when I say this, are teams doing all they can to get games on? Looking at the tweets today from cc it would appear groundsman didn't turn up until 9:30 ish. Surely with the forecast last night he should have been down the ground forking 1st thing, and I expect by 3 pitch would have been fine. Perhaps when clubs are admitted to leagues these such issues should be considered.

Chris I know it's a rare thing but I have to agree with you. I thought myself when I saw the photos that they had posted on Twitter that with a bit of work that could have been playable, even with the photo of the Groundsman forking the pitch he didn't have the fork in the ground. I know that Simon and indeed myself and others have got games on with more water on the pitch than that. I can recall a few years ago against Carshalton when we rigged up a drainpipe and stood all afternoon literally scooping water down a drainpipe and off the side of the pitch to get a game on.

In my referee days two teams were able to play two shorter matches against each other on the same day.
Double header. If the result of the first match became too certain the losing team saved their energy until the second match.
Double fees for refereeing two games. Happy days

The game is now played next Tuesday.
Casuals are now currently the number 8th in the table with 63 points out of 37 games.

They are having a lot of different results but yesterday a good win against Faversham away 1-2.
Topscorer :Akokhia with 11 goals.

And we? Just win will do.... Hope we can stay in a play off place !

Save journey! COYU'sssssss

Full Time 2-2

Would have taken a point beforehand, knowing the strength of Corinthians, but gutted with a point having been 2-0 up

On my way back home- we were 2 up at HT. We was awful second half, and fortunate to get a point. They dominated in the second and look a very good side. We completely blew it.

Don't think we completely blew it. Of course if you are 2-0 up it is a pity you loosing 2 points but in a positive way you can say 1. We won 1 point 2. Stay in a play off place 3. Stay above Corinthian in the table 4. Months ago we had lost this game.

So up to Carshalton next Saturday

Truth was to me, that they were playing football and we didn't know what to do!!! It looked clear to me in the second half that we couldn't deal with the corinthian style of play. A point gained I agree, but we need to tighten up and start marking properly.

They will be gutted they didn't win, we didn't create a clear goal scoring opportunity in 90 mins, 2 spectacular goals that were not clear opportunities cannot hide the fact we were 2nd best for virtually the duration of game. Again against better opposition we clearly didn't look good enough, if we are to gain promotion we need 2/3 new players or a substantial improvement from the ones we have.

Have to say I agree with ChrisB here and I think he's given a pretty accurate reading of the game. Two excellent goals in the first twenty minutes, but not one clear cut opportunity. We continued to give the ball away, but were beaten by the sheer pace of their attackers and midfield. Have to say that the hosts looked like a very capable side and actually made us look second best for the majority of the game.
Must take my hat off to Billy Medlock for another outstanding goal and Zac Attwood for a classy strike too. The two highlights of the game. Casuals were unlucky not to be leading at half time, let alone not even level. They hit the post twice after going 2-0 down and squandered a handful of good opportunities - for them to be two down at half time was harsh on them, and quite frankly flattered us, despite the quality of the two goals we had.
Second half the hosts defended well when they needed too, but if anyone remembers how much we were battered away at Worthing in the game with win 3-1, it was like that in the second half. A big shame to throw away a two goal lead, but take nothing away to Casuals who looked like a very capable side.
Before the game I would've definitely taken a point and even though we lost a two goal advantage, on reflection a point is still good for us. Massive game against Hythe next Thursday now, providing we beat Carshalton at the weekend. Every game is turning in to a mini cup final..

kind of got felling we were 2nd best from following it on twitter but i to think befor game a point would have been ok and now at this time of season points matter. but we do struggle against better sides despite the players we have and for once i am please to have to say thank god for Zac and his goal. sometime i think we get carry away like on opening day with win against chipstead and last week beating whitstable and othergames like south park and guernsey where we win well but we should against teams that are poor or on bad runs. i think the game with hythe faversham ramsgate and herne bay are now big big ones to see where in play off we finish but i am confident we will get to play off now but not sure where and look like at moment dorking could be strongest side. i would expect us to win all the other games.
did anyone find out why hythe game is on a thursday as that could possibly affect us with games in a short time more so when the 2 following games would be normally dead cert 3 point games?

Since your own club won't tell you Peter, somebody from the home club will.

Cost you £9 or £6 to find out though

I am not completely sure Peter so don't quote me on this but someone said to me on Tuesday evening that we (Hastings) could not get a team together on Tuesday night as a lot of our players were unavailable for one reason or another.
We asked Hythe if they would play on the Monday instead but they refused to, so it had to be referred to the FA as it couldn't be sorted out and they said that we should play on the Thursday instead.

Due to the ongoing speculation surrounding the Hythe game next Thursday which is clearly upsetting so many people we now have a statement from the club.

Due to player unavailability the game has now been switched to Thursday. Sam Cruttwell is starting at McDonalds, Sam Adams has another stag doo, Tyrell has  his 4th surprise birthday trip of the season, Razor has to collect his buss pass, Zac is fishing and hopes to at last land something in the back of the net, Walder is in court for head butting a pigeon, Billy is getting his nails done, Cumming Bart is having that awful hair off, Gary Wilson has elocution lessons and Danny Bloor is going for a polish. The club will be making no further comment on the change of date.

Brilliant John and very funny. I heard that a lot of the team had some time ago arranged a 'jolly boys outing' to Cheltenham Races and were unavailable.

That's handy! of course, they will remain professional with the Hythe game and play offs in mind, and will not be touching a drop of drink during the day.biggrin

Glad that something has come from your club and that it has a ring of truth about it. Hythe were offered Monday or Thursday and selected the latter as the Monday would have been right after playing on the plastic at Whyteleafe.

Have to say that there is a certain mistrust around our club regarding the stuff and when there is doubt, players seem to pick up odd injuries, perhaps because they play a different way.

Bit rich any complaints from Hythe, if they'd spent a bit more on the pitch and less on players the game would have been played a while ago.

i like john explanation that much more and i could understand those reasons. but a player jolly on a tuesday as we get to important time of season and a fixture pile up is a funny way of trying to get promotion. as john says i am sure they wont be drinking and hope this is not a bad call
