From their website. Looks like they will be taking this quite seriously and maybe cos they knocked out of Fa Cup on Saturday means more serious than if they had won. Good that a pro club do take this competition serious even if might make it difficult  for us to have run in it this season. I struggle to get to games on Tuesday but might try make this one

Senior Cup second round tie at home to Hastings United

Reds are back in cup action on Tuesday night, November 10, when we entertain Ryman League Hastings United in the second round of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup.

The AJD Group West Stand only will be open for this fixture.

Admission prices are £5 (adults) and £2 (all other categories). This includes a free 4-page programme.

Manager Mark Yates said: "We have got a bigger squad now so those who haven't been in the team in recent weeks will have an opportunity to impress.

"We will respect the opposition and the competition because these are games that we want to win and we're hoping to see a good turnout of supporters here to get behind the team."

I know Gary and Danny said in the preseason forum that they were going to take this seriously but trying to be realistic here. Yes, there is a golden pot at the end being a final at Brighton but to get past Crawley, Brighton, Bognor Regis and Whitehawk, you are going to need a fair amount of luck on the way and I would say our chances are slim at best. Looking at their away record I believe we have a fantastic chance to beat Merthyr on Saturday and then mix it with some of the big boys and earn some serious money. We have an ever growing injury list, suspensions, and a creaking and over worked Razor and Sam Adams. Should we really be sending our strongest to Crawley tomorrow? Surely the league takes precedence closely followed by FA Cup, then FA Trophy, with Sussex Senior just ahead of league cup. Surely we now have to prioritise as we head towards Christmas and a huge amount of fixtures (12 in next 6 weeks). Would just hate to see Razor, Ollie, Sammy etc break down with all these games and see our league form slip away.

Gotta agree with John in order of importance of the cups but would a possible heavy defeat against Crawley hurt us more for the Merthyr game in terms of squad confidence than a more tired squad?

Impossible to predict i suppose ahead of tomorrows result.

With no game this week for the Development Squad the likes of Kyle Holden, Liam Foster, Alex Hause & Harvey Hannifan should all be included in squad, Max Hollobone & Tom Vickers who have not had much game time recently should definately start. This would allow certain players to have a rest.

DS are playing tonight away to Chatham. So I guess we will have to play either first teamers or get the youngsters to play twice in two days.

diffilcult one like Dan say would not want to get thrashed and i think if you enter competition you should take it serious but agree trophy on saturday more important and be good to add more money to the lot we make already from fa cup and trophy. be nice to know what kind of team we play tho cos if a weak one a few supporter be unhappy going to crawley midweek for a sussex cup game

I'm going to Crawley, mainly to see us play at a decent stadium. Certainly not expecting to win, so wouldn't be unhappy to see the fringe players starting.
As well as the risk of injury, I wouldn't want any outstanding performances to catch the eye of league scouts!

Just a little unfortunate that we picked up this draw at this stage of the competition and in the middle of a busy run of fixtures. It would be very good to get to the final at the Amex; but that looks quite unlikely this time round.
Of course, Saturday's game is the important one; so I just hope, as others have said, that we get through tonight's game without any downside of injuries, cards or serious knocks to confidence.

Hmmm, that's not a bad Crawley squad at all, whoever we play a result of any type would be a huge result, presume it's penalties to finish tonight?

Unbelievable, one of the best and most commited performances I've ever seen from a Hastings side up against s side of that quality. Hugely deserved the standing ovation at the end!

The fact the crowd was so small in such a big stadium ( 250 at most ) makes it such a shame that more didn't see it. We genuinely could have scored 1 or 2 more on the break in the second half of extra time.

He certainly played very well as did they all but MOM was Razor without a doubt, be surprised if Crawley didn't offer him a contract on the spot!

Certainly HOLLIBOURNE's best performance, but razor was immense, even had the Crawley fans turning on their own centre forward . Never gave him a sniff. Ollie Rowe and pelling also outstanding . And a special word for jack Harris . He held the ball up really well until the midfield could join. Then when Crawley had the ball he worked back to stop there best player (Rooney) from receiving the ball. In fact compliments to the management team , because that was a tactic that worked well, with Sam Adams being instructed to do exactly the same when he replaced Harris.

Wow what a fantastic performance that was tonight. Congratulations lads, each and every one of you were superb tonight. I Had a very interesting chat with their chief executive tonight and I was astonished by the wage bill the squad that played tonight came to. In comparison it makes our FA cup money look like chicken feed its that substantial. With that in mind their board were certainly gracious in defeat and praised the lads heroics.
With such a performance it's difficult to single out an individual that stood out but I think as Dan pointed out Razor was brilliant. I hope that the lads can now recover properly in such a short time before Saturday's game.

One thing we can learn from Crawley . Excellent pies. I'm not normally tempted by the food bar at the PF, but the introduction of a quality pie, might drag me over there.

You were not alone. Indeed, it might appear John, that when we agree, we are both wrong. So, let's try to avoid that for Saturday!

Remarkable achievement. I've just had a look through the Crawley squad for last night and many have been playing in their first team this season. Really pleased Max Hollobone has started to impress. I was very critical of him in early games but he wouldn't be here unless Garry had seen something in him.
Let's hope the confidence we MUST have gained from such a performance will see us through on Saturday.

Here's a quick tester for you:
On Saturday we won our tenth league game, without looking it up, on what date did we win our tenth league game last season ?

Can anyone find a Crawley forum that even mentions the game?

A few of there fans were calling the result shameful on Twitter and their manager shouted at a particularly disgruntled fan in the stands who had been slagging of his players all game to meet him in the carpark outside after the game! more County League behavior than League 2! :)

I was sat near their manager Dan and I never heard anything like that aimed at a fan, I only heard him hurl some abuse towards his players when he made his way from the stand to the dug out.

Maybe it was a coach of there's rather than a manager ( Dont know what he looks like ) mate but a few of us standing at the bottom of the stand heard it clearly as he walked off the pitch. It was the fan who'd been slagging off ( Ex Tottenham & Southampton striker ) Lee Barnard during the game. Just shows we really rattled them!!

Brilliant performance by the whole team last night and I thought selection and tactics were spot on. Razor was absolutely at his best but whole team defend as a unit and great effort from all. just hope there is something left in locker for saturday as easy that saturday is much more important but if we have energy left and we play like that then we wont be needing a replay and more cup money from merthyr tie. but if we are poor on saturday then prioritys will be question.
first visit to crawley for years and impressed how they develop the ground. as said fantastic food (pies) friendly staff, great pitch better than mud heap used to be there. Very enjoyable night

Had a look at that Photo and it looks really old, must be 7 or 8 years old, as our Red & Black away strip was a long time ago,and I am not sure who the team in blue is but it's definitely not Crawley Town!

Yeah that's Rye, lazy journalism if you ask me, you only need to look on our website to see lots of photos of players in match reports.
