After our win against Chipstead we are back for a game in the league against
The Lilywhites are currently the number 12 in the table with 27 points out of 18 games. Last Saturday they won away against Whyteleafe 0-2.
Last season we won both games ; away 1-5 and at home in our last home game 2-1 ( 2 goals Adams ) for a crowd of 900 !
Faversham scored 19 and conceded 16 goals in their 18 matches.
And we ? Going for our 6th win in a row is the main target and slowly heading towards the play-off places. We somehow always score a goal and our defense look solid. Bright Temba scored the second goal in the win against Chipstead and the manager Garry Wilson knows he has to make choices both upfront as in midfield. Think that also very important is the behavior of some of our players and the position they have in the team. Jack Walder was sent off not for the first time and as a captain you have to be an example.
Hope a lot of supporters will turn up for this match which i think it will be not a easy task. But with the support of you all ...... COYU'sssssssssssss!

First the good news, which should take about 30 seconds. First half we played okay without ever setting the world on fire. We played some nice neat football, probably shaded the possession, and in my view, deservedly led 1-0 after 40 minutes through another super finish from Tyrell, although there were not a lot of other chances or saves to report. Then on 42 minutes, Sam Crabb, who was poor all night yet again, failed to control a long ball, was outmuscled and out paced by Stuart King, who then easily beat Ollie Rowe and rifled in a great finish off the far post. Half time whistle went and we all felt a little aggrieved at being all square but surely we would be in the ascendency once again. How wrong we all were as 2nd half was absolute rubbish, some would call it a disgrace.
Second half Faversham were out nice and early as a team and you could tell how much they were up for this. Five minutes later out came Hastings in dribs and drabs and the performance that followed was unacceptable and back to the old Hastings we all thought we had seen the back off. No shape to the team, constant long balls, dreadful set pieces (Faversham hit the target with everyone of theirs), unable to pass the ball 10 yards and substitutions that were way too late in the game. Medlock and Vickers are either fit or they are not. All four goals were gifts from us whilst at the other end we barely had a shot on goal as the service to Tyrell and Jack consisted of mainly balls hoofed long. Josh will get stick for the third goal but I would be asking why their left back was able to run that far without any kind of challenge. I know Sam Crutwell has a lot of fans, including me, and he has been great recently, but second half he had a real stinker, constantly giving the ball away and I saw Razor go absolutely mental at him towards the end. And poor old Cumming Bart, ill let someone else comment on his performance but I would be more concerned as to why Gary and Danny decided to keep him on the pitch until the 80th minute.
So a really poor night after 5 back to back wins and would love to know what was said at half time. We were pitiful 2nd half and just had no answer or plan when we went behind, not for the first time this season. But well done to Faversham, they looked a decent, solid outfit and in King had the best player on the pitch by a mile. And wasn't the night just summed up beautifully when Josh pulled off a cracking penalty save right at the end only to see about three Faversham players following up whilst Hastings players looked on.
Blimey sounds grim. Pool night and champions league for me and maybe missing midweek game is a good thing reading John comment. so if Medlock and Vickers came on as sub why they not start? shame after going 1 0 up we did not build on it but the dribs and drabs coming out after half time sounds poor does not sound very team spirit there. whatwas the crowd?
Like Phil, I really can add very little to John's excellent analysis. Of course, we disagree sometimes about the 'long ball' issue; but we can certainly agree that when we get knocked off our game - as we were tonight - and play inept long balls against a combative physically strong team the outcome is entirely predictable.
Can someone explain to me what has max hollibourne done wrong he should have been bought on instead of Medlock who was not fit by his own admission he had enough strapping on his ankles I'm suprised he could move changes were made to late feel sorry for josh yes it was a stinker but he has kept us in sooo many games I'm sure that blunder won't effect how highly I think he is just don't understand why max never gets bought on as he will never stop running which lots did tonight
Um we play a few ordinary sides how good are we? fantastic ? play one good side and money goes out window. over paid fooballers no passion. tell me if i am wrong?
Can't add much to the comments already said but for a couple of things . It's not just the hoofing it in the second half , it's also the pace at which we pass the ball . There were times when we actually passed the ball around on the attack but we just seem so slow at doing it . You could hear the keeper shouting " hold up hold up " to his defenders , meaning that they didn't just dive in knowing that we were going absolutely know where . Unlike us who seem to regularly give away penaltys by diving in . How many pens have we conceded already this season already ??? The other point is, yes Josh had a couple of howlers and some will say how much he has saved us in other games , well he also kept the score down last night with a few fine saves . If I was him I would have been fuming after saving the pen that we didn't follow up to clear . It's all about player focus and last night 2nd half they were more than blurred !!! Simply not good enough !
Have missed our recent wins- Poole being the last game I saw. What a dismal night at the Pilot Field. Thought we were just about doing enough to win the game for about half an hour but got unbelievably sloppy and careless for the last 15 minutes of the first half and never recovered. Stuart King will never have an easier game being assisted in his goals by hapless defending. Hopefully that was just a one-off performance!
Surprisingly low attendance last night, would have accepted more like 300,but some might have seen this result coming. As posted earlier,we were very much in control for the majority of the first half and did not see this result happening.Agree that all goals were gifts but credit to Faversham for their endeavour. They converted their chances, where we appeared to take too many touches before making an attempt on goal.Hope we can put this result behind on Saturday as I can see us going on a winless run for a while
One important absence last night was Sam Cole. When he is present and playing well he finds space wide and intelligent long balls can be played to him; and even when that doesn't work, a flat back four gets much more stretched and there is more space through the middle for players to run through. Conquest is right to say that last night - without an effective wide option - when we did get forward we tip tapped around and Faversham defenders had all the time they needed to hassle us off the ball.
So yes, very disappointing. For me it was a similar defeat to the one against Poole - against a strong committed well organised team who counter attack quickly - once we lose our shape we suddenly look very poor.
poor show last night, but my worry is with all the cards we are getting that we may have several players banned at once which will mean chopping and changing,am I right in that crutts went to left back last night after showing he IS a very good midfielder I know circumstances make that so but so much better in that midfield.also think that simon Johnson is one of those unsung players that does his job so well.
Crutwells passing was awful, but you couldn't sub everyone, so moving him out of midfield was a must. We had chances to get back in it at 1-3 but were not good enough to take them. But Geoff we cant base a team on Sam as the way he tackles he is a card waiting to happen, and if he stays all season I expect he will be banned from at least 10 games over the course of the season.
i guess if we get lot of suspensions we can just get more players in with the Fa cup and trophy money. No Walder last night? Was he injured or punishment for Saturdays behaviour and red card? Who was captain last night? See the crowd was 260 which is very low when we had been on a good run
At least I got £5s worth from my entrance fee. I agree the second half was poor, but I've definitely seen worse this year. Although the long ball did creep in, it wasn't constant. The biggest fault for me seemed to be the final ball into the box, or the dithering to do so. Set pieces also poor - are we still not practising these ?
As for the crowd, perhaps the clash with the champions league had something to do with it. I know people weren't keen on Monday games (including the players), but it did avoid most TV clashes.
Well Chris, I agree that Sam Cole's tackling can be a problem; but that to my mind is not the primary part of his game - it's his runs and ability to deliver a good ball into the box that's important. So, if he could choose to make less risky tackles he'd perhaps get less cards while still being a valuable asset. I think a clear distinction needs to be made between him and Jack Walder; who does indeed - as was commented upon before he arrived - appear to have a major discipline problem.
It's the old debate about Tuesday night football again ! I'm not sure the Champions league matches being televised would have made any difference than the Spurs V Villa game being shown on the night before . I guess there are probably more Man U fans south of the Thanes than Spurs fans 😏.... It's more about apathy of the people of Hastings and it always will be unless we can get out of this god damn awful league ! After last nights display ...don't hold yer breath !
It was an average first half and we probably just about deserved a half-time lead. The goal by King was very well taken and as has been commented on Faversham came out for the second half eager, early, together whereas we almost looked reluctant to come out in small groups. That set the tone for the second half and we looked disjointed and awkward in our play. We have beaten good sides recently though not that I went to Tonbridge and Worthing but those performances show we are more than capable. Ironically though everything that Garry Wilson asked for in his programme notes fell on death ears! Such a shame but hopefully it was just 1 bad day at the office and not the return of some of the very poor football we saw earlier this season.
Interesting comments from Gary Wilson in today's Observer. "You will see some lacklustre performances because you will not get that perfect performance every Saturday and Tuesday". Well I am not sure if he has been misquoted but I am not sure us supporters have to accept lacklustre performances ever (Lacklustre - lacking liveliness, vitality, spirit or enthusiasm). We can accept poor performances but lacklustre......not acceptable I'm afraid.
Chris and John: I am a pedant, of course, but to me 'lacklustre' means what it implies: i.e 'lacking shine'; and it seems self evident that players cannot deliver their very best day in day out. Read in that way, Gary's remarks seem to me to be an entirely fair comment. I know that Tuesday's performance was poor and that some of our preceding victories were against pretty woeful sides; but I'm still very positive about the squad we have and the effort they make - a bad day at the office doesn't of itself change all that.
