After a very disappointing result last Saturday we face another big test against FolkestoneInvicta.JPG

Surely we have not forgotten our heavy defeat against them just only 2 weeks ago at home 1-4 with also a red card for Sam Cole.

Folkestone is on top of the league with 6 wins and 1 draw and one of the favorites of winning the title .

They play at: The Fullicks Stadium  Stadium_View_from_Fullicks_Terrace.jpg

And we ? Hopefully the team will bounce back after the result last Saturday but it will not be a easy task. Have all a safe journey!

No width in the starting line up so I guess it will be the punt up the middle to the front two again.

Seem intent on losing this one at the moment.Sounds like a gift from Pelling to allow Dolan to score. Then penalty miss from Adams

Here's the first rather typically biased report:

(Were we REALLY pre-season title favourites having only avoided relegation in the last game of the season ?)

Much, much better performance than Saturday , thought we deserved a point. However at this level can't go giving away goals like we did and then missing penalties. I think Sam did exactly the same last season. To give Folkestone their due, when they went to 10 men they defended superbly.Despite the defeat feel optimistic.

Slightly strange formation with zac starting wide left and holobone in the hole behind Jack. Got himself in some good positions but lacked conviction. Ollie Rowe stood out again, but it says something when our centre back was our most potent attacking force. Sam crab also did well going forward.
However no lack of effort, and but for another gift of a goal and a missed pen, the result could have been completely different.
Sending off incident was similar to the one at the pilot field. The tackle by Walter looked worse than it was, and a yellow card was probably correct. This time the Folkestone reaction was spotted by the ref, and resulted in a red, as it probably should have been in the previous game.

Frustrating in the extreme - frustrating that United left with absolutely nothing. Far better performance than Saturday's. Scuffed clearance from Josh for the goal - and so what, he's got us out of the mire on numerous occasions. Credit the Invicta keeper for the penalty save - Sam didn't do much wrong - keeper went the right way and kept it out. That word frustrating again - a more than adequate performance against a decent side on their patch but that final ball just would not fall right - and our best chance, penalty excepted, was even before they scored when Jack should've maybe had a pop instead of laying the ball off.

Keep at at it boys.

Very strange report from the Folkestone Herald. Anyone else see Sam Cole playing last night? I could swear he was suspended for 3 games unless he came in disguise last night.

Good honest words as always from Neil Cugley and good to see Crabby back on form.

Excellent performance last season and I'd probably say one of our best performances of the season. Seems odd to say that despite losing 1-0. Folkestone's defence last night was incredible. You will not see a more disciplined and solid defence all season. It summed it up for me in the final couple of minutes. The ball was send towards Steven Okoh in the Folkestone penalty area and one of the Folkstone defenders did a diving header at Okoh's feet and the ball was sent away for a throw on. Superb defending from Invicta and honestly don't think there's a better on in the league.

Obviously Sam Adams having his penalty saved in the first half was tough. The penalty was stuck hard, and low but not in any corner and the keeper was able to dive to his left and stop it. The less we say about Josh Pelling's error for the vital goal the better, but three minutes in was tough after we seemingly made such a good start.

Overall both teams played really well. The hosts hardly gave the ball away with lovely passing and even successfully hoofing the ball upfield. Both sides defended well but one mistake proved vital. If we play like we did last night (without mistakes(!)) then I'm positive we'll pick up a fair few points this season.

much better performance than saturday but could not be much worse. over 90 minutes i think we deserve a draw although we had probably more of ball i always thought that folkestone more likely to score. Did not quite understand our formation and all this messing with it must unsettle our players and i think we should try stick to a system whatever managers think is best. pro teams have loads of time to work on differebt systems but non league dont and think we should just play to our strengths and stick with it. Our passing at times as well as crossing and shooting let us down last night and that is where folkestone are streets ahead of us and in defence they are solid and organised. thought walder had been shown the red card and would not have surprised me if he had gone for it. feel sorry for Adams and Pelling that there actions cost us in the end but at least there was more effort last night. can see folkestone doing a burgess hill and winning league with a lot games in hand as winning when not playing at your best is a good thing to do and we need more solid defence to be able to do that
