After the great display on Saturday against Chipstead we will now face
Their ground.
Sittingbourne lost their first game away to Herne Bay 1-3.
Last year we won away 1-3 ( goals Pogue,A.Olorunda and Cook ) and home we drew 1-1 ( goal Richardson-Brown )
The great performance against Chipstead ( although they finished the game with 9 players ) will only make the expectations higher for this season. But like a Hastings supproter already mentioned we will have to keep our feet firmly planted.
But it is always nice to get a start like this and Harris and Atwood seems to '' understand '' each other very well.
I don't remember that stand at the Sittingbourne ground from last my last visit? Remember queuing for 20minutes though for a burger at the bar because they don't sell food outside. Not one of the nicer grounds Sittingbourne.
See they had Bankole and Antonio Gonnela playing for them in the defeat at Herne Bay. How old his Antonio now? Seems like 10 years plus since he played for us.
I think that stand is from the Central Park complex in the town centre, not the main bit with the greyhounds and speedway, but the training pitch next to that. Sittingbourne have played at both of them before moving to there current location.
Lots of ex Hastings boys around tonight. Jamahl King playing for Whyteleafe against East Grinstead for whom Trevor McCreadie has just scored. Ross Sutton playing for Peacehaven. Crellin and Whitehead for Three Bridges. Rook and Dolan for Folkestone. Bankole for Sittingbourne and he scored. And Corinthian Casuals have a player playing tonight called Diego Maradona Petriaggi.
Look good going forward, could have had 5 or 6, must have hit the post 4 times. However need to tighten up at the back. And what about the support , crowd of 132 must have included at least 70 from Hastings.
Ollie Rowe will be back in 4 games which will take care of that. We look very dangerous going forward, a number of times we have created chances leaving the opposition standing. It's very encouraging to see.
Sounds like another really encouraging performance. It's certainly exciting that we seem to be creating chances at will at the moment.
I'm actually really looking forward to the next home game (sadly can't make Saturday) and it's a long time since I have been able to say that. Even our play off season (13/14) was pretty dull to witness.
Hope I'm not setting my expectations too high after this fantastic start.
The good thing is that we've got a management team and board who will keep everybody's feet firmly on the ground. It's a great start and confidence will grow, on and off the field. Garry won't get carried away until we're four points clear at the top with one game left. At this stage, we've set down a marker and sent an early message to the other teams - we're on the way back, and we're coming to get ya.
