The Club is delighted to announce that it has today completed the transfer of Zac Attwood from newly promoted Conference South side Margate and the striker will link up with the First Team squad for tomorrow evening's pre-season meeting with Eastbourne Town.
Attwood returns to the Pilot Field for a third spell, having first joined the U's from Bognor Regis Town as a nineteen year old in October 2008, scoring three goals in twenty-five appearances.
His second stint would prove more successful though, the former Eastbourne Borough junior helping himself to fourteen goals in both the 2011/12 and 2012/13 campaigns, including one of the most important goals in United's recent history, a late winner away to Bishop's Stortford that earned the Club an historic FA Cup First Round win in November 2012.
After leaving at the end of that season, Attwood initially joined Margate, but soon moved on to spearhead Maidstone United's attack after their elevation to the Ryman Premier, before returning to Hartsdown Park and helping the Thanet side to promotion last term.
Eighteen year old midfielder Kyle Holden, who broke into the senior ranks at the Pilot Field in the second half of last season, has now signed Ryman League forms with the U's for the coming campaign, and he has been joined by former Luton Town and Lewes full back Jerome Jibodu.
Fantastic signing for the club. Unlike others I've always been a huge fan of Zac's and was disappointed when he left us at the end of 2013 season. Not only scores goals but is fantastic at set pieces and cant wait to see him and Harris up top this season and first time for many years we've had two quality strikers at the club. Welcome back Zac!
Well done everyone in loved in getting Zac back ... He was has gained a lot of experience since he left us and I'm sure he will prove to be an excellent signing . Don't know a lot about Jibodu but we always need full backs ... Good to see Kyle signing on again too.
