Just wondering if the club will be doing a collection at there first pre season game for St Michaels hospice I think it will be a nice touch from the local football club and I know it will be appreciated
I am really pleased that the club will be supporting St Michael's Hospice. I had a feeling that it would. My dad went there last Thursday only to be evacuated in the early hours of Saturday morning. Sadly, he died in the early hours of Sunday morning. Although my dad wasn't there long, it didn't take long to appreciate the skill, kindness and general fantastic job that the staff do there. This is a priceless, unique, over subscribed resource that cant readily be replicated elsewhere.
It is unbelievably sad for the people using the service now and those that might need to use it in the near future as well as the staff who work there (lots of whom came off annual leave and days off to help where they could)
Any help that anyone can give no matter how small, whether financial or practical will I'm sure be put to good use for a very good cause.
Very sorry to hear of your father's death,General. So glad that a collection will take place at the ground.I believe we have a real gem in St.Michael's Hospice.
Reading this has just sent a shiver down my spine. I'm so sorry Matt, but you know you have an awful lot of friends at the supporters team who are here for you. Your dad was a fine man and he will be sorely missed at the Pilot Field.
So sorry to hear that news, terrible event, have a good friend who works as a volunteer at a hospice (not st m) and the job everyone does is amazing thoughts are with all concerned.
What a great decision by the Club to increase their support for the Hospice following the devastating fire. I have been a volunteer helping to fundraise for them for 10 years and know what wonderful work they do to care for people with life limiting illnesses. The response from the public in Hastings and surrounding areas has been incredible and I'm sure our supporters will be equally generous. The club has decided that starting this Saturday it will be 'support the Hospice week' and are looking to help during the season as well to raise further funds.
We were so sad to hear about this but didn't appreciate that we knew Mr Denness until I saw his picture in the last couple of days. Our sincere condolences go out to all his family.
good to see the club is supporting hospice again. have already made a donation following awful fire. maybe the club can host a fire walk for hospice like it did a few seasons ago. think it raise a lot of money. a cousin of mine raised over £1000 when he did it at the ground was a great night for a great cause
Deepest sympathies to you General, I love the picture of your dad in his United scarf (my own dad is the bell-ringer). I was at school with Eddie so we are in touch, sounds like your close-knit family is staying strong through this difficult time. May your dear dad rest in peace. Jenny x
So sorry to hear the news Matt, I can only echo what John's said regarding the supporters team.
I went to volunteer there a few years back and had a tour of the hospice, the amount of work that goes into running the place is quite frankly amazing.
My first log-in for a while, came on to try and find out details of today's friendly. I was playing with the Supporter's Team today so we couldn't be there but we struggled away in tropical heat, raising money for another very good cause, the out of the blue charity.
Thank you very much for all the messages of support.
Although we did very well only losing in a tight game 6-4 the main thing was raising , I've been told , £3400 for OUT OF THE BLUE!!! Well done everyone ! Great afternoon and thanks to the Crowhurst boys and their family's for making us so welcome ...and thanks for JohnW for organising us 😀. Knackered now but a special well done for Si n Will , they were awesome in the heart of our defence !!
