The Club is planning to host a trials game on Saturday, July 11, in order to run the rule over potential players ahead of the 2015/16 Ryman League campaign.
Any players interested in taking part should please email Club Secretary, Tony Cosens, at the following address - richardcosens@btinternet.com - and attach a short CV outlining details of their footballing experience to date.
Selected players will subsequently be contacted by the Club with a formal invitation to attend the trials game, along with specific details confirming the time and location.
Don't think there is any chance whatsoever as there may well be players turning up who are currently with other teams, albeit not on contract. I would assume it will all be top secret/behind closed doors, but wouldn't it be fantastic for the first team to have an open training session at the Pilot Field one Saturday morning. We want to attract new fans to the club and we want to be more open as a club. I know for sure that if the club did this all of my youth players would come up and watch and I would hope the Hastings United youth teams would as well, along with parents and existing supporters. Seems like a good idea to me And something that I do not believe has been done before.
I'll put it to Garry, not sure when this can be arranged given that almost every Saturday is now taken up with friendlies etc but I will see if it's possible.
To be honest would rather see a mid season evening session and too see who turns up, as over the past few seasons rumours are a lot of players have been giving training a miss.
Sorry Peter but could not disagree more. I am involved with 3 youth teams and take it from the horse's mouth that they would love to come and watch the first team train as would I. As well as a lot of youth players around there are also a lot of budding coaches, including myself that would enjoy watching a training session. Not sure what's happened to you over the summer Peter but you have certainly become the new Mr Grumpy.
fair enough kids might find it good to watch but adults, really and a way to attract new fans? it is bad enough watching friendly games but to think of watching training as a way to get new fans is some thing i dont agree with. sorry if that means im grumpy i just think it mean watching training is not something that make me excited and ive not be grumpy with the signing we make but as you said in other post need to bulk it out more.
