The Club regrets to announce that Simon Rudkins has advised Chairman Dave Ormerod and his fellow Board members of his intention to step down as a Director with immediate effect for personal reasons. He has also opted to relinquish his role as Safety Officer.
Simon was invited to become a Director by former Chairman Dave Walters in July 2006, and over the years, has combined his Boardroom duties with a number of other voluntary roles, including those of Chief Steward, Programme Editor and Groundsman.
Twice named the Ryman League's Groundsman of the Year at the Football Association's annual award ceremony, and nominated again for honours in 2015, Simon has kindly agreed to continue his work in that respect for the coming season, but feels that he can no longer retain his other positions.
Everyone at the Club would like to extend their sincere thanks to Simon for all of the hard work and dedication that he has put in to his directorial and other roles over the course of nearly nine years. It is also very pleasing to know that he will still be seen around the Pilot Field on a regular basis going forward.
Staying as groundsman though thankfully according to the statement but anyone of his 3 current roles would be more than enough for any one person, the fact he did 3 ( and previously more at the same time ) shows the calibre of the man. Big shoes to fill with his other roles!
probably not happy with DANNY BLOOR appointed manager
Maybe this is not funny Dougie. I know Simon as a very serious and friendly person who put so many hours in doing so many things for HUFC. The reason(s) for his desicions are for me very important to know!
Well he's stated quite clearly his reasons on Twitter this morning and doesn't mention anything about the incoming managent but instead hopes they succeed so that's clearly not the prime reason. Si's a very honest bloke and would have said if it was.
unfortunately I have been put in a situation where I would have to work with a co-director that has over the last few years tried to destabilise the Club. That has forced my hand and I simply would be not good for the club if I remain on the Board of Directors
so often in modern day football principles don't appear to matter and that is wrong.
I am extremely disappointed to have had to make this decision but principles are important in all walks of life.
Although initially i was not going to give reasons I think I need to do so in order that I can move on without leaving anyone in the dark.
Would like to thank everyone for their kind and touching messages following resigning as a director and safety officer at Hastings United FC
Don't want to add to the controversy but just find it really sad that this great club is always shrouded in some kind of controversy whoever is in charge. Within weeks of many people getting their wish and seeing Dave Walters leave the club, and new owners taking charge, we have people on the forum slagging off the new management team and now one of the most respected members of this club feels he is in a position where he can no longer continue his role. Not what we wanted a few weeks into Dave O's tenure.
If we have a new director on board why has this not been announced by the club? one thing we do need from the new owners going forward, and something we have not had previously, is more openness and more clarity to decisions made by the club and get the news out quick before rumours start and supporters make up their own mind as to what is going on.
Its stupid I have heard the rumours to and tell u what if it is the person its a piss take to the club and for the try supporters as all last season slagging the club and the management team off like no business someone like that shouldn't be aloud to stand for what ever for the club yes I help out doing painting I only do that for Barrie and Roy and Simon as I have respect for them lads and this person who it is or may be will never get any respect from me that's for sure
Okay guys, lets just calm it down a bit and wait for an official statement as to who it is and the reasons behind it. I don't think coming on here calling people all sorts helps in anyway however strongly you feel about the new appointment. As I said in a previous post, until an announcement is made it is natural to make your own judgements and come to your own conclusions, the important thing is that we keep it civil on the forum please. We don't want to go back to the old days.
Just as we think things are settling down nicely, Popular new board, generally popular new management team, Management committee organised, Optamistic for the new season. finally everyone pretty much working in the same direction then something totally unnecessary like this happens, we lose a very important person at the club in most of his roles and the s** hits the fan(s) again.
Bayern Munich are nicknamed 'FC Hollywood' due their constant upheaval and controversy, think we should be named the same!
Question is, will there actually be a statement coming confirming the new appointment whoever it is? Do new directors have to be listed on the website etc anyway? ( Obviously listed legally on companies house etc )
The club don't have to tell us anything Dan. I was guessing that something may be said as both the new directors and new management committee were announced immediately on both the forum and main website. I am also guessing that now something has leaked out some kind of statement may have to be made. The fact is whether people like the appointment or not we cannot afford to cause unrest throughout the club. Villa hate Learner and his henchmen, Newcastle Ashley, Cardiff Tan etc etc. Whether we agree or not we have to have faith in the new board although I appreciate it still doesn't hide the disappointment of losing Simon.
Unlike the examples of owners above though mate is that the difference is no one hates Dave O in any way at all. in fact he was almost unanimously welcomed as a very good option indeed when DW left who was popular with almost everyone. everything up to this point has been very well received in general. I consider him a genuine nice bloke who knows his football and loves the club.
That's what makes this decison and its repercussions worse.

Iv got nothing against daveO at all he's a nice person its just this has made the supporters think we take 2step forward and 10steps backwards u have someone who has been there for so long and knows the club to bring someone in who probs thinks being a director will be easy when it wont be I would have had Simon there no mater what not saying he prob wont be able to do it it just a shock to everyone

John, knowing you as a very direct and honest person and also on Football Technical and Tactical an expert
, i am not 100% agreeing on you with this. The last sentence i can't agree with. You can't have faith in the new board if ( if it is all true and why i won't trust and believe Simon) they make such decisions. No ONE is bigger then the Club and so to seem appointing a director who has been very negative about our club the last few years is noway to justify.
So the pathetic rudkins doesn't want someone whom he accuses of destabilizing the club. Bit rich then rudkins you making tweets and behaving like a spoilt brat. Now who is trying to destabilize the club?
dont really see why so much fuss. Rudkins resign cos he not happy with a director that his decision no one else he has been honest which is good for supporter to know. if it is new director let him come in and see what he can do but agree with john that need a story from club and then we know what is what

Chris, you know like i do that Simon has done a lot for this club. The hours he spent at The Pilot Field tell all of us how loyal he has always been. Can you tell that from our new '' director ''
Bert, yes I know Rudkins has done a lot for the club, but does that allow him to behave like a spoilt brat when he doesn't get his own way. Who knows who the new director will be ?

I think Simon knows who it is otherwise he would not take such a big step i assume........And i think Dave our chairman will
Rimsay I think you should resign from the supporters club, you outrageous attack on here surely makes your position untenable as you clearly don't trust the chairman and his fellow board members to make decisions.
Have deleted my posts on this thread after meeting Dave and two other board members tonight and have apologised for my comments and as far as we are concerned the matter is over and we are all more than happy to move on , as unlike some i am man enough to face people and not hide behind a keyboard !
In regards to your comment chris i think you should shut the hell up and never return to the club but we can't all have it our own way unfortunately can we , and for the record i have not resinged and will comtunie as vice-chairman for the coming season!
Rimsay your post might have been deleted, but you meant it alright, like you meant your last one telling supporters to stay away, when you are vice chair of the supporters club, very strange attitude, with supporters club committee members posting and saying things like you have, the old rifts will never heal the club will just continue going from one problem to the next.
Thanks Pete for your kind thoughts and comments but it is not me. If I still lived in the area I like to think it might have been but not comfortable about the description of destabilisation of the club. My open comments about the previous ownership arrangements should never have been perceived as such.
It was because of my loive of the club that such views were expressed
Simon is a top guy who knows the values of service
I have no idea as to who the mystery person is. Perhaps a competition with the award of a free season ticket might move the attention to more substantial issues
Granted my comments may not help sometimes but please don't tell me you're taking the morale highground here and saying your comments are constructive and helping to heal the club , bit of delusion there as you commenting back after my previous post is doing exaclty what you're saying i'm doing lol
But there is one big difference, you hold a position that your ego means it appears after every post, you should treat that position with respect, if you were just a fan like me I would not have a problem as we are all entitled to our opinions. But if you take a position of trust you shouldn't abuse it.
.
Why all this negativity we should be all together with the new management and directors let's get behind them and stop all this ****ing potty **** it's boring Rimsay was man enough to admit wrong now move on Chris u just love drama!!!!!
Arrows, I have stayed out of controversy since dw left, but this has angered me, an ex director stirring up trouble because didn't get his own way, the club has now lost a good man who would have been an asset to the club, partly because of an ex director an not helped by the vice chair of the supporters club. Pull together you are having a laugh its obvious from Rudkins comments on twitter that these things can't be put in the past, and where his loyalties still lie.
Guy's there are a lot of heated feelings here and I for one one have been trying to help build bridges that haven't been there. Things said over the last 24 hours now need to stop here and now. Even I have seen the error in my ways over this. It is time to unite and stop this. Tonight has seen a productive meeting. Things are moving forward even things I did think would happen but they are. The main thing is even if I can not go in to it at this time things will move forward.
Obviously, from a distance, I have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. What I do see is dirty linen being washed in public, an apparent lack of dignity, and insults being traded. Not good. I also had a bit of a chuckle around apparent attempts by an individual to destabilise the club over the last 2 years - now that is funny. We teetered on the edge of the footballing abyss, had about 26 managers, 200 players, fell out with all and sundry, so we did a fair job of it ourselves without anybody else sticking their oar in. We now have a strong board, a proven managerial team and our prospects are bright. If Mr Rudkins doesn't want to be part of that, so be it. That's his decision, so move on. It is also up to the club as and when they communicate, and again, there has already been a massive improvement on that front. I believe we are in a good position to move forward so let's try and remain positive. One thing I will add - I believe that anybody who holds a position of responsibility within the club, whether that be football or supporters club, should be very careful, considered and reasoned when they make comments on this forum or on any social media.
The last past of Overthehill's comment above is absolutely right. I am very sorry to see Simon go. He deserved great respect for all he has done; but I know nothing beyond what is on this forum of underlying events. To comment in ignorance is folly at best.
