Don't think i have to remind all here on the forum that this is a very big game as we welcome
Sittingbourne is currently on place 17 in the table . Played 35 games and got 42 points. Won 12 drew 6 and lost 17. Scored 43 and conceded 58 goals.
The away game this season on September 16 we won 1-3. Goals from Cook, Ade and Pogue. Bankole played for us that game but is now in the squad of Sittingbourne.
Top scorers in both League and Cup games are : Jono Richardson and Hicham Akhazzan with 7 goals.
Their away results are better then the results at home; from their 17 away games they got 22 points. From their home games from 18 played only 20 points. From their last 6 away games they got only 3 points ( win against Whyteleafe ).
And we? After the trip and the loss against Guernsey where we should maybe had earn 1 point we are now up for a big test. Can we rely on the same commitment the players showed against Guernsey then we have a chance of winning this crucial game. Statistics show that we are doing not so bad at our defense. We are on place 9 in that 'table ' with 57 goals conceded. The problem lies in the fact that we score not enough; in that 'table' we are on place 18 with 47 goals scored.
Seeing almost all clubs who are next to us in the table are gathering points ( with maybe the exception of Horsham) we have to win this game. maybe the return of Sam Adams will give the team a boost. We need the points and hopefully a lot of Hastings supporters will visit the Pilot Field to give the team that extra support.
Think Bankole is also playing for them, least he was when I saw them play against Burgess Hill a couple of months ago. Need a bloody big performance otherwise squeaky bum time is well and truly on us.
Many recent games have had the 'must win' tag added to them. This one deserves it more than some. As NK has noted, if we beat Sittingbourne we are bringing them into the relegation dogfight whilst if we lose they are well on the road to safety and our position is that much more precarious. The more teams that are in the mix, the greater are our chances of survival.
Better performance today and no lack of effort but perhaps a tad fortunate to get a point in the end after a poor 2nd half performance and frantic last 5 minutes. Fantastic equaliser from Tyrell and a couple of great saves from Josh but we really have got to start taking our chances and starting the second half of games a lot sharper. Jack Mclean was a revelation on his debut and the first signing for a while that has really excited me.
Couldn't be more evident that we need a goalscorer than today.Chance after chance went begging today, especially in the first half.Very promising debut from Jack McLean in which he created many presentable chances.Unfortunately,he missed a very easy chance in the second half which would have been the icing on the cake.Still not sure where a win will come from in the remaining games, needless to say,I hope it comes soon
A game that could have gone either way. A point probably a fair outcome taking all into account; but I thought we should have been at least a goal up after a reasonable first half. We really switched off for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Sittingbourne took their opportunity and I thought we looked down and out. Our substitutions came later than I thought they should but they gave us more energy and their keeper made two outstanding saves before our deserved equaliser. Credit to Sittingbourne who kept pressing (Bankole had a good game and Jono a game long tussle with Ade); and they had a couple of very good chances (one ending in a great air shot!) and, as John says, they gave us a pretty torrid time at the end. Agreed, Jack McLean was outstanding, Ade battled away as ever, Ewan did not do enough, Sam Adams looked really out of touch.
So, not at all what we wanted, but it could have been worse. At the least, once we woke up in the second half we showed some fight.
Felt we just about deserved a win today and with more clinical finishing and, it has to be said, a bit of luck going our way we would have got it. Certainly made Jack my MotM today and a well taken goal by Tyrell....but rather too many "nearly" performances with people like Evan, Ade and Sam not quite firing. I see we inched up a place but, to be honest, nothing much changed as a result of today's games.
I'm sorry but I must have been watching a different game! Fair result? Just about deserved to win?? Sorry but if it weren't for an inability to finish we should have been three up at half time and added another courtesy of a one on one that we couldn't finish! Sittingbournes goal came from I think their second shot on target! Yes - a much better performance but our finishing cost us . again.
I think we are starting to create a number of chances but we really need to be converting those chances. A proven goal scorer is what we've been crying out for in a long time, I'd be taking a punt at getting some 7 day letters in to clubs who's strikers are sitting on the bench regularly it's got to Be worth a try surely?
I thought Jack McLean had a good debut, he ran his socks off, looked to be able to turn players well, and considering he was making the step up I think he could be very useful for us.
Hastings certainly had enough chances to win but we needed Josh and a few Sittingbourne misses at the end to get a point. Lots of endeavour from Hastings today with Sean driving the team on. Tyrell took his goal well-just wonder where he played when he scored all his goals for his university-was he playing as a centre forward?
This was a massive point for the boys so well done...could have gone either way and with 5 minutes to go we were hanging on for grim death. Pleasing to see that most of the teams around us lost points so a point gives us something to build on. Redhill are using their games in hand with little progress...unlikely to get anything mid week against champions elect Burgess Hill either...Horsham have now lost their last 6 games..conceding 9 in last 2 games without reply....win our next home game against horsham and recon we will be safe.....impressed with attendance of 400 being next to bottom of league...many clubs are in envy of this fan base talking to away supporters yesterday.
How we didn't win that one was beyond me! Don't agree with anyone saying that was a fair result. Should have won but overall nice to see positive attacking play from us. Love having 2 proper wingers, think Jamie is an absolute gem and a massive step up from Tas. Better but HAVE to keep that consistently going now
