I don't think I have ever been so pessimistic about our chances of survival in any of our previous relegation battles in the past. But that feeling is based on the last 90 minutes of football that I watched on Monday night....not the stats !
The encouraging news is that there are not too many games between teams below us at the bottom. In fact other than our games against Ramsgate and Horsham there is only one other fixture between the bottom five...and that is Ramsgate's game at Horsham on the penultimate Saturday. In theory then we could lose every single game and STILL survive. Personally I don't recommend that approach.
Despite having by far the most games to play, Redhill look to have a tough run in with games close together in the next three weeks against many teams in the top half. East Grinstead's final fixtures aren't much easier. Everyone in the bottom five is in pretty hopeless form at the moment so 43 points (even 40 points) may be enough to survive.
For us, clearly those games with Ramsgate and Horsham are top priority. Just two wins could do it.
I'm afraid wears clutching at straws here. The fact is based on our last few performances we are getting worse. I hope I'm proved wrong but after Mondays effort I can't see us getting another point let alone three . Boy am I positive today !!
