Horsham were refused planning permission for a new ground tonight, reading their forum it looks like 6 years of hard work just waved away because of some cycling issues and nearby equestrian activities. Seems a real shame to me that yet another council don't see grass roots football and the benefits of what a new stadium and its amenities can offer its community. I know that if they go down this may probably have to be put on the back burner for a while but it really does make you wonder if they can survive this latest setback? I believe that they have to pay in the region of £1000 to hold a game at Gorings mead which is a massive amount to find for a club with an average gate of around 200 when they have players to pay too. I wonder if they'll appeal the decision?
All their problems are self inflicted, they took money for their old ground spent it, without having a replacement ground. And I would imagine unless an appeal is successful they might well fold.
why did they sell their old ground? did they sell because they were offered to much to refuse or because they were forced to?
Horsham YMCA should look to reduce what they charge if its their choice to charge that much otherwise they will find themselves without a tenant soon enough if Horsham fold. Dont know the situation there well though
It was a lovely ground. I was also puzzled as I think they sold it not long after their cup run. Can't really guess what happened to the money . Maybe they still have it but will have spent a lot I'm sure on ground sharing.
I was on the side just by the 18 yard line and saw it plainly. It was in the box, Sam was in front and the defender fouled him. About the only decision the ref got right all night.+
I think that unless you have outstanding support of the Council and key stakeholders, running a football club with ambition is very hard. Unless I am very mistaken, and this is not an accusation, the local council in Hastings has seemed to be rather reluctant to unequivocally support Hastings United. Obviously money is tight these days but just to say we support our local club in their passion to improve doesn't cost anything. I know we've talked about moving from our spiritual home to a purpose built stadium at Tilekiln and that never really got off the ground. I suppose it won't all the time we're in a rubbish league with gates of 300, we aren't important enough and it would cost lots of money. Wouldn't it be nice though to have 21st century facilities (including a 4G/5G training pitch!!!) to go with our legendary playing surface at the PF. Other teams have managed to do this - why can't we?

I think Steve has let the loss of all that hair effect his posting On the correct thread! 😂😂😂
It sounds like one of those debates that people will have to agree to disagree in the end Lenny. Are people reluctant to admit we had a bit of luck for a change? It's about time, I was beginning to wonder if we were subject to a gypsy curse or whether the Cole Warren Stand had been built on a Native American burial ground.
I see Horsham got a vital win last night against East Grinstead 2-1,which kept us in 16th place, with a very poor gate of 145.
Also Walton Casuals slipped up at home to Herne Bay 0-2 which also kept us 16th with an even worse gate of only 44.
I dont know how these teams manage to survive.
We must be the second best supported team in the league behind Guernsey.
Actually in the last week Adrian, Burgess Hill have moved into the second highest attendance spot with a huge rise of over 50% on their last season average and is now 352. They have had an incredible season so far so shows how attractive a successful side can be.
Just noticed that their supporters club offer is almost insanely good value! £15 to join then you get £3 off each league games cost for the season, blimey!

Without a doubt Dan that will be down to them getting over 1000 in for the Fa trophy game.
I think you'll find that they had a game back in September v East Grinstead where it was a £1 to get in or pay what you want type thing. They had nearly 800 on the day so that would bolster their average and probably not give a fair reflection. We are definitely the 2nd best supported in the league by some way and probably one of the best away supported in all Ryman leagues.
Well another excellent win for Horsham last night 3-2 away at South Park in front of another disappointing crowd of only 96.
Since losing to us they have won 4 out of their last 5 games, and are on the brink of escaping relegation, and lie just 5 points below us with a game in hand!
At the Worthing game the Worthing fans were chanting You're going down with the Horsham,That doesn't look very likely at the moment!
That's what should and usually happens when you get a new management team in place at all levels of football. Unfortunately we never seem to get that reaction to new managers at Hastings. Will Nigel get that same reaction? I have my doubts but lets see. Its certainly getting tight at the bottom with teams above us also getting dragged in.
Trouble is though, the table is so tight from about 7th all the way down to us. I think the teams in and above the playoffs will stay where they are now, but anyone below the playoffs could finish anywhere if it stays this tight.
