New manager, or should I say manager reappointed is Nigel Kane, with Mark Stapley as assistant. Not a particularly inspiring choice but if he keeps us up that'll do for me. Thats how desperate we've become. Good luck to both.

Not particularly inspiring appointment. As I've said before we are just going around in circles. I think I would have rather seen Stapes in charge Or someone completely new, young and fresh although the argument will be 'tried it didn't work' .When he took over from Terry the football seemed to be more dull than ever and I'm just sick of this long ball rubbish and unfit, overweight players. Moan over!! Congratulations to him and particularly Stapes. They will have my full support for the rest of the season and let's hope the results and quality of football improve and quickly.
another not particularly inspiring from me. is this permanant or just to end the season? know he got promotion before but remember the football never that good when we got promoted. feel like no ambition in this. did anyone apply surly could not have done interviewing already. good luck to them but not excited at all
I said on here that our managerial merry go round had to stop. It hasn't. Back to another ex-manager - did he resign last time and what was the reason - I can't remember. I assume that people like Darren Freeman must have said no or they didn't come over very well at interview. I wonder how many applications we really had. We may just as well as stuck with Stapes until the end of the season - he's obviously a decent bloke with a passion for the club who had some influence over our improvement on Saturday. Sorry, but the Board appears to have made a very quick decision and I echo the above comments re ambition. Our only ambition now is to stay up and that's sad for our club. I hope and pray that the new manager can do something to turn us around and I wish him every success. I'm also going to stop suggesting fundamental change. Here was an opportunity. IMO, another chance wasted. Same old, same old...............
I am in favour of the club's appointments. Yes, it is conservative, but that is what is needed right now. The only objective in playing terms this season is for us to stay up. That is the simple reality. I have absolutely no doubt that Nigel and Mark will achieve that objective with the players we currently have, suitably motivated; plus two or three additions to strengthen the squad.
Longer term is another matter. All those who love the club must feel intense frustration and disappointment that not only have we not progressed and built upon the FA cup success of two years ago, but in objective terms we have gone backward. It is stating the obvious that a procession of managers is deeply damaging. It erodes player confidence, leaches money, and reduces the credibility of the club in the eyes not only of supporters but of potential sponsors. As others have said, the club needs to break that depressing cycle. Just appointing an exciting new manager is not the answer, given that three months or four months down the line history will very likely repeat itself and the club will find itself without a manager once again.
I am not opposed to the current board and I am not criticising them now. I am well aware of how difficult their task is. However, before next season, I suggest that the Board should very carefully consider just why it is that recent managerial appointments have failed. To put it all down to bad luck or incompatibility will not be helpful. The Board should consider just what can be done to give the present and any future management team a better chance of success. I have no knowledge whatever of the inner workings of the club or direct knowledge of the personalities involved. However, from the recent public comments by Dom and the club, it would seem that at the least there is a measure of tension if not confusion about roles and responsibilities. The manager needs to be absolutely clear about what is within his remit and what is not. This needs to be sorted out before next season's campaign, whether Nigel and Mark will be in charge for that, or someone else.
Well at the very least it was a quick appointment. The situation is hardly ideal is it. No doubting the passion of Nigel and Mark, but if local and passionate is the qualification to manage a football club then 250 people should have put their hat in the ring.
The most important thing is we get behind these two now and keep our club at a serious level.
Some questions though. Who is going to step up to Football Development Manager and Assistant or were these roles purely made to keep Nigel and Mark at the club to give them something to do?
And have we filled the managerial positions of U21 and 18s manager?
I try not to post on here now but I think Roger that you have overstepped the boundaries there . My opinion only but as a father wiith 2 daughters I'm not comfortable that a joke should be made of a very serious crime. Sorry - my opinion
There is an awful lot of over reaction on this forum but to use such a hideous crime as a description to how the club is run is stupid and naive. I'm sure it was not meant in that way and hopefully after some thought Roger will understand how many people may be offended by his comments.
Having discussed Bookworms comment, the majority of moderators have agreed that the comment was certainly distasteful and uncalled for. Therefore we have decided to ban Bookworm for three months.
Comments such as that cannot and will not be tolerated.
Agreed. Don't like banning people and we all step over the mark at times, but this is an extremely sensitive issue in the news at the moment and I think this forum can do without anymore controversy.

Well done lenny and all other moderators for there swift action I do agree with johnw regarding over reactions but I don't feel what was said was an overreaction as all have said that subject is very very raw at moment

Probably wasn't meant to be offensive but would certainly be so to anyone who had been a victim or knew someone who had been a victim of a devastating crime like this so not very wise to post it on a public forum.
Unwise to make an attempted humorous comment on this issue. Ched Evans would probably be annoyed with the comment as well as it makes the assumption he is guilty at a time when he is awaiting his appeal. However, we must be careful not to take ourselves too seriously on this forum and try to remember people should be allowed to express their opinion whether we agree with it or not.
Knowing what I do of Bookworm, am sure this comment was ill-judged rather than malicious, and I'd have preferred to see him given an opportunity to withdraw it and apologise rather than a ban.
But as one of very few women who contribute to this site (occasionally), I would just like to say how heartened I was to see the overwhelming response of most of you to this post in challenging the use of rape as the currency of casual "banter". Would never have had the Pilot Field down as a hotbed of feminism!
Now let's concentrate on getting three more points this afternoon. COYUs.
Totally agree with th above comments. Rape is not a subject that lends itself to humour. I think you misjudged the PF faithful Jen.
Lets get behind Nigel and the team and cheer them to three more points.
Jen- it's not a case of feminism - it's a case of standard values. Whether meant or not it is unacceptable and I find Tims argument of free speech puzzling , especially from a teacher. Of course we have the right to freedom of speech but some people seem to think that's a licence to say anything. Not acceptable in my view.
Pat sorry you are puzzled- I guess its it a matter of how you interpret Bookworm's comment. I took it as having a dig at the way the club is being run. If I thought he was condoning what had happened to the victim of this unfortunate incident I would have taken offence. Great job with the shears! Very professional!
My barber career is over Tim! Mind you - I was trying to shave Santa with a beard trimmer!! It always seems to be a dig at the club but a very unwise and poor way to do it. I'm all for free speech but I do worry when that seems to be a licence to say anything. I'm not sitting in judgement as I'm not perfect but I'm sure that in your profession you would instil those values into your pupils. Freedom of speech but not abused?
