After the defeat against Chipstead we will now face another big test against HerneBay.jpg

The team from Kent are currently 6 in the table with already 26 games played and got 37 points. They scored 40 and conceded 45 !!

After a good draw against Merstham they suffered at home a big defeat against Three Bridges 0-6 and last game against Whyteleafe with 1-3.

Last year we won away 0-2 on 24-09-2013 ( goals Darby and Kelly ) and at home on 20-01-2014 we won 1-0, goal Kenny Pogue.

They play at Winch's Field   Picture

Oh yess, always look on the bright side, even at Hastings ! Think we all have to be positive despite the results. The glass is half full and not half empty. 2x a half full is.... full and 2x a half empty is... empty.

We are in a situation that we will need the points and soon and get away of the relegation zone. The lack of scoring goals is the main problem in the squad now , we seem to create the chances but are not 100% alert in front of the goal. Good to see Taser got another goal TaserHassan3.jpg

So, it will be a very interesting game between two sides who are struggling at the moment. Herne Bay has the advantage of getting a lot more points already but it seems to me that this is a chance for Hastings to turn things around !

Hopefully a lot of supporters will make the long trip and support the team , and that till the end.

Come on your U'sssss!

Great all round performance today not a weak link out there. I think we defended better than I've seen in many games, Tas took his goal well and had a hand in the second too having won a free kick, I thought Fraser Logan was sublime, a real engine in the centre of midfield making some good passing. Had to laugh at some of the suggestions from the Herne Bay supporters that their team didn't really try because they knew that they would loose the points because of the error in playing the suspended player, it certainly looked to me as if they were trying.
Good performance great result, well done lads.

Clearly this was another decent away performance taking our chances and giving little away. As others have said, we now need to get some consistency and put a run of good results together. We all hoped that Faversham was going to be the turning point but it turned out to be something of a false dawn.
No reason why we can't take maximum points from the next two games against sides now in worse form than us......which will set us up nicely to end Burgess Hill's unbeaten record. You can't beat a bit of seasonal optimism.
Have a good one everyone and let's hope for a better 2015 !

I don't quite understand Lenny The Lions quote when he said about Herne Bay playing a suspended player.

I mean did they know as the game went on that he should not have been playing or what?

Seems strange to me as these things are normally discovered some weeks on further down the line.

And were the Herne Bay supporters suggesting that they let us win the match?

I really don't understand.

The player they substituted within 8 minutes of the game was suspended for that game hence they took him off as soon as they realised. One of their supporters realised the mistake and said to one of our supporters that the Herne Bay players realised that regardless of the result we would of lost the points after a league meeting and decided to not put any effort in. That's not how I saw the game, in my opinion we thoroughly deserved the win and didn't see any lack of effort from Herne Bay.

What a suggestion that Herne Bay were not trying of course they were! This was a much improved performance from the U's. A lot of us did make the long trip Bert and this time it was worth it. Logan looks a good acquisition but jury still out on Robinson but a good all round performance. Looking forward to Monday, we need to keep momentum going with another win, make no mistake it will be hard against an unbeaten team. Best of luck to the lads! Be confident.
